you are welcome to change the channel, to watch something that reflects your view and only your view.doesn't seem very useful now. let's get to know the people protesting and celebrating donald trump's victory. last night we began with those celebrating and tonight we end with people in the streets. this is from sky 9 as folks walk down through downtown denver in protest to donald trump. steve stager reached out to a conversation that goes beyond the slogans and the ch. aguelar will be at a protest called colorado united against trump which will make this statement confusing. >> i feel donald trump is the president of the united states and we are not contesting that in any way. >> reporter: what are you doing? >> we are fighting for our rights! for our beliefs. we are fighting for future policies. >> reporter: if she's not here to protest trump's presidency, what is she here for?

voice. we're here to have this stand and this grand right now. >> reporter: she is not a trump supporter. >> what really scares me is the stance that trump stands for. i'm a child of immigrants. for me to stand up was taboo. and that's what we're trying to break. >> reporter: but still, trump won the election tuesday night. we asked her why protest now? why not give the guy a chance to govern? after all, the country elected him. >> if you don't start somewhere or now, then it'll never happen. do you leave your dirty dishes in the sink all week or clean them now? we're going to clean our dishes. >> reporter: and she says everyone is welcome at tonight's event, even trump supporters. she hopes that everyone's voice can be heard. on election night, i encouraged all the people that said they could not imagine why anyone would vote for trump to have a conversation with a

a good people responded on social media with the f word. but as for not knowing anyone who disgeed with your voting choice, even colorado's campaign manager said they did have silent supporters. >> the trump supporters are your neighbors. probably when you put your trump sign in your yard came over to your house and knocked on your door and said, i thought i was the only one [ in a whisper ] >> they're not out there and publ s but they go to work every day like you do. they have kids that go to school. they are everyday working people. >> reporter: here's an idea. let's turn "next" into a place where these tough conversations will actually happen. trump supporters, clinton supporters, third party people, folks who didn't vote, talking for real. go along. keep the conversation moving along. calling our new segment

champa when police were looking for a man who shot someone and trying to get away. >> as i focused on the bus, i looked and there's a lady looking terrified. we're all pointing guns at the bus. i need to get her out of there! she opened the door and pulled her backseat open. no, no, no, this way! she says, there's a child back here. i said, oh, my gosh! >> officer torres said he had cover from a department of homeland security off do. they train on what to do. >> as soon as she pulled the girl out, i just grabbed her and ran with her. you know, shielding her. trying to get her back to a safe environment. >> reporter: like most in her profession, officer torres would rather do this any day than talk to me. because, you know, media. he says he loves his job even after 33 years of working in different

slogan but means something. he was caught on camera living it. >> i couldn't think of anything evaluates. >> reporter: for "next," anastasyia bolton. >> wily admitted taking a gun and shooting. denver is on the verge of allowing marijuana use in bars and coffee shops. voters were evenly split on this. measure 30 6,000 votes. the result could change. but it's leaning yes on this. the initiative would create a pilot program where businesses could apply for permits and people could enjoy their own marijuana on suit. best part of the day. is the a-line working? well, sort of. there's some crossing issues today. resulted in 20 polling place 30 minute delays. today's and yesterday's issues are unrelated to

january on the a-line. yesterday, there was a bad circuit board that needed to be replaced. and then a component on a track circuit -- i don't know what that means! -- but it had to be replaced. trash cans. spiffy! denver rolled out the new trash cans to measure how much people are throwing away. city is paying 6 1/2 million bucks for the new cans. they're being rolled out neighborhood by neighborhood. we heard of a few mishaps where the trash truck arm just jacks the whole thing into the trash but the issues don't seem to have reached a-line proportions yet. but if they do, we will come up with a new segment! did your cans get trashed today? aequat caughter laying claims to the -- a squatter laying claims to the entire city. >> and on throwback

instagram account is just pure eye candy. all these gorgeous views from arnold the city. and a lot of people are confused. that account is not run by the city of denver and nobody knows who is running it! somebody has been squatting on the instagram name for years. the city is trying to figure out who it is because of the confusion it's causing. this person calls the official mile high city account, even using the denver logo on the website. uh-oh! the city is cool about it a celebrity with a fan page. they accept that that person claimed the name first so they haven't filed an official complaint. for now they just want the city's official logo to come down. they're thinking of what to call the real account name. the real denver is one name they're kicking around. today 31 families

snowier months typically. well, it feels like springtime! even with that weak front that came through. i'm kathy sabine. i'm tracking a few showers that accompanies the second half of next week. not overly optimistic. we will see temperatures trend downward. for those panicking because there's no snow in the high country other than the what they're making at the resorts, i have some good news for you. we may break re they're making snow ashoka mukpo fast and h country. high pressure still in place. storm track to the north other than a 10-degree drop in temperature tomorrow. pretty quiet weather pattern will continue. 35 in the city tonight. areas of fog to the east of us. second dry front comes through tomorrow. we'll be in the 50s. then we warm up again into the upcoming weekend. sunshine, 70s in the forecast for the second half of the weekend into the first part of next week. high and mid-level clouds around the area.
