took to the streets late into the night-- voicing their displeasure with our country's new president elect. this is video we took from from sky9. there's still no word this morning on just how many people were out-- but from what we know today-- no one was arrested and the protests remained peaceful. the demonstrations started in the evening over at the state capitol and moved down the 16th street mall. around 10 p.m. protestors got on auraria parkway near i-25 between pepsi center and the campus fired pepper balls out to direct the crowd away from the interstate-- but didn't fire them at protestors. people we spoke to say they just want their voices heard. while it's not exactly clear what protestors are

trump supporters have their opinions. they say the demonstrations are irresponsible. protestors also took the the streets in boulder last night. at last check things did not get violent but according to the boulder daily camera-- protestors did block streets at some points during the night. no arrests were despite all of the division being shown through the protests-- donald trump is moving forward with the job. he spent his first day in washington since being elected-- meeting with the president and promoting a smooth transition. n-b-c news correspondent edward lawrence breaks it all down. this morning he is waking up at trump tower planning more for the transition.. including looking over possible cabinet choices. today in washington-- president obama will honor our nation's veterans by paying tribute at the tomb of the unknowns. as part of the annual tradition-- the president will lay a floral wreath at the tomb at arlington national cemetary. mister obama will also make some formal remarks thanking veterans as well. this will be the last veteran's day ceremony of president obama's term in office. with the emotions - following the election - still close to the surface, signs of unity are also there - and especially powerful. 9news reporter dan grossman found that to be the case - in aurora- at fox hollow elementary's annual veteran's

man who hit and killed colorado state trooper jaime jursevics is moving forward today. eric henderson was drinking before, during and

brooklyn's - near sports authority field, before hitting jursevics on i-25 near castle rock. he's serving 8 years in prison. a lawsuit filed by jursevic's husband says the bar served henderson even though he was visibly drunk. that is against colorado law. still 9news legal expert scott robinson says these kinds of lawsuits are not unusual and are often successful. the bar has chosen not to comment on the case. the man who police say opened fire -- killing one person in downtown denver this week remabe charges. denver police say 20 year old steven wiley shot at two people on champa street - near the 16th street mall. they say he and his girlfriend tried getting away on an r-t-d bus-- but they were able to stop them. 30 year old nathaniel simpson died. the second victim is still recovering. wiley is also facing first degree assault charges.. a man sentenced to life without parole for his part in a murder case-- will be freed after nearly 20 years behind bars. according to the

lawyers for giselle gutierrez- ruiz were ineffective during his 1998 trial. he was 17 when he was convicted of first degree murder. he was driving when his passenger shot men in two different cars in adams county. one man was killed. the investigators who helped arrest gutierrez ruiz and the wife of the victim petitioned for his release. continues to poor in today following the presidential election. now japan's prime minister is making a trip to the u-s. the concerns the country says they have now just ahead. plus the slender man attempted murder case--is back in a courtroom today. the arguments a judge is expected

donald trump-- he and japan's next week in new york. the country is dealing with concerns over whether-- trump will make good on his promise to pull out of the trans-pacific partnership or t- p-p. it's a 12 country alliance to counter the economic clout of china. japan's defense minister also says the country will not pay more for 50 thousand u-s troops based there. during his campaign trump called out countries for "freeloading" off american resources. the uncertainty trump's election could bring to foreign partnerships is prompting protests around

the british prime minister spoke with the president-elect thursday. but we don't know if he has spoken to the german chancellor yet. the president of france, however, said that european leaders may have to stand up to a president trump if necessary. the case of two teens accused of attacking a friend and nearly killing her are set to go in front of a judge. the case has come to be known as the slenderman case. they were 12-years old when they are accussed of attacking a friend to please a fictional horror charte slender man the two are now both 14 and they're charged as adults in the attempted murder case. they have already pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease. reports from several psychologists will be among the issues considered in court today. the canadian poet, songwriter and artist - leonard cohen passed away. he was 82 years old. according to a statement on his facebook page-- there will be a memorial in los angeles - in the near future. his family has not

lowes and other stores across the country are being recalled today. kichler says more than 70 thousand krystal ice flush mount ceiling fixtures are involved. they were sold from april 2015 through june 2016. the halogen bulbs sold along with the fixtures can get too hot posing a fire hazard. kichler says or get full refunds depending on how old their homes are. a deal for verizon communications to buy yahoo could be in jeopardy following new revelations about a cyber attack. yahoo admits at least some employees knew a state-sponsored hacker got access to its network after a cyber attack in 2014. the company says it first discovered the breach-- which affected data from at least 500 million users, in august. the admission means verizon
