that line from jack nickel son as the joker got stuck in my mind during the campaign. i thought it made sense in one way. he was taking the joker's advice. modern political campaigns have become full of, well, crap that needed cleaned out. the sort of ignorant middleman between the candidate and people's votes they're after. the next week it's going voters are waiting for someone on high to tell us what they care about. hilary clinton's is the latest and greatest in campaigning. whether you think trump is a joker or a superhero, voters saw they were getting an unfiltered candidate. people found him to be ah thent particular. it -- authentic. it was clear he was running his campaign. there's a lesson for anyone there involved in the process, those of us in the news business.
8:49 am
learn from this week's result. if you go to my twitter, i've got a link, you can check it out. i also write about the fact that in the republican party trump and his ground swell were able to win the nomination while the democratic party was able to stamp out bernie sanders. >> both parties have ignored that part of their base. it's the bernie sanders phenomena and the democratic party and it's the donald trump phenomena in the republican parties. both parties are going to have to deal with this. how it plays out, i don't know. whether or not an actual third party movement can develop and be a realistic challenger and competitor to the other two, i don't know. but i guarantee you, it's not going to be business as usual, it can't be.
8:50 am
their peril. this populous national movement is real. the only thing it has never had is a leader. it's got one now. that's a huge wake-up call. >> t that trump won with these kinds of margins when hardly any polling was predicting this means that there's something else really going on and i think people are really upset. i think the level government is a lot higher than we think. and i think those of us that are left to this need to wake up to that. what the bernie sanders people were saying, we need to pay attention to, and that is going to become the sole of the democratic party for the near future.

the extreme things. >> my right to be sexually harassed, my right to be sexually assaulted for equal wages, for reproductive rights, those don't matter to america. and that's disheartening and scary and it's a similar feeling in communities of color where it doesn't matter whether you demean a judge or whether you want to build a wall or you point out certain immigrant groups and target them. there's been an acceptance of anti-woman, anti-immigrant, anti-people of color, according to tonight's results. >> another theme we heard was uncertainty. republican george brockler told us he had to vote for trump. he has more

don't really know. so much of this campaign has been about personality and about character and about negativity towards one another. we really haven't had a lot of in-depth discussions about policy. and about philosophy and political idea yolg. we really haven't had a lot of conversation about that. we're going to know a lot more about this guy who is going to become the most powerful person on this planet. >> that's going to do balance of power. we'll see you here on sunday. . a lot to digest. moving forward, the broncos take on the saints in new orleans. >> "game day live" post, michael show us how important it is.

strong, they need this win. >> yeah, i think the broncos got the saints at the wrong time. new orleans starts off the season 0-3. the broncos are struggling and that's why and i know you disagree with me, i think this game is absolutely crucial. i don't think they can fall to six and four. i know it's not an afc game and conference, but they have to right this wrong especially with the way the raiders and the chiefs are rolling right now. >> i don't think this i game. i think the broncos can get smoked today and still be okay because i think the best news of the week, which doesn't help them this week, is that coming back after the bye. >> all right the afc west, maybe you need this game for the afc west, but i don't think that's all that important to this team right now. what they need to do

bye, then they have the chiefs, jacksonville, tennessee, they'll be 9 and 4. they'll be all right. >> i'll agree if they lose this, but i think it's a big -- i think it's a big deal. we're going to talk a lot about trevor sim yon and drew brees coming up in "game day live," but let's talk about the running backs because the broncos have to get back on track. >> there's a lot of mismatches work against the broncos. the runn the new orleans saints last week albeit against the 49ers rushed for 247, the broncos gave up 218. that's with three neil downs against the raiders. that is huge for the broncos if they want to have any chances to control the saints' running game. >> guys, we'll send it back to you. >> certainly a lot to talk about. thank you.
