snowless days -- and a 24 hour temperature drop of more than 60 degrees. denver's first snowfall of the winter season. from clear skies, sun and record high temperatures -- to a winter wonderland. snowflakes replacing the leaves on sidewalks -- and morning drive. pretty to look at -- but not so pretty to drive through. a driver's nightmare this morning -- icy roads... good morning. corey, cheryl, and gary here with you. meteorologist belen de leon joins us. belen -- the snow is over in denver and just finishing up in the high country right now...

extra time to de-ice the places. they tweeted there were also equipment issues with that de-icing process. . multiple airlines had delays -- but united was the longest. fly-denver dot-com says some united flights were even canceled. when president- elect donald trump was just candidate trump trying to win the election over democrat hillary clinton -- he made several promises during his campaign. but within days of winning the election -- he's already backpedaled on some of them. historians say the amount of core domestic policies he's now backing away from is unpresedented. among the vows he's re-evaluating or scrapping -- appointing a special prosecutor to investigate clinton, placing a ban on non-citizen muslims, totally abolishing the affordable care act, and bringing back u-s coal-industry jobs. he's also softened on some positions -- like social security

making the rounds on capitol hill -- first speaking to members of the republican leadership conference -- and then key democrats. one of those democrats -- house minority leader nancy pelosi. she says they spoke about how they can work together on issues like infrastructure and child care. and that pence is a great help to the president-elect. when meeting with republicans -- pence stopped to pose for a selfie with the entire g- o-p leadership conference. he also met with house speaker paul ryan behind closed doors -- about the transition of power. the new york city police is dealing with a new security challenge -- protecting trump tower.

the president-elect lives in the penthouse. today -- mayor bill de blasio and the police commissioner will talk about their plans to protect the building -- and the president elect. forget the lights of broadway, the empire state builidng, lady liberty... trump tower has quickly become one of the city's most popular backdrops now... for selfies. since the election -- a ton of people have packed the sidewalk with selfie sticks in hand. deputies are hoping you can help them name this man -- who they say committed a horrible crime, setting a man on fire. that victim does have serious injuries now -- but is alive. adams county deputies aren't giving much details about it. except that it happened on november sixth -- near east 58th ave and washington street. they tell us he was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a 'cross fit

stoppers at 720- 913-stop. you don't have to give your name, you could get a reward. robert dear -- the man who killed three people at a planned parenthood -- will spend another 90 days in a state mental hospital. a judge ruled thursday-- dear should undergo another mental competency evaluation based on a report from the state psychiatric hospital. he's been there since may. his next time in court will be in february. that's when a judge decides to either send the shooter back in for more treatment -- or say stand trial. dear made more anti-abortion outbursts in court thursday -- as he has done in previous hearings. the owners of an apartment complex near mile high stadium are accused of putting asbestos into the air -- during broncos games. the overlook at mile high apartments were under renovation during the 20-14 playoffs. court documents say asbestos could have been released in the area -- which is within walking distance of the stadium. if it's proven true -- willmax capital management could have to pay 500-

or more. the company's director, john "tom" williams, could serve a year in prison and pay a 100-thousand dollar fine. one colorado town devistated by the flood in 2013 - is getting a new water treatment plant today. the town of lyons, honewell, and project partners built the new plant. the other plant, had damage, outdated components, and was expensive to operate. leaders say the new plant has new energy-efficient equipment. it should cut downgr least 40-percent -- and reduce operating costs by more than 133- thousand dollars. anyone hiking the scenic thompson divide won't have to deal with oil and gas development. officials have announced they're cancelling 25 leases for drilling sites there. the energy industry objects to the decision though -- saying the government went back on their contracts. interior secretary sally jewell also says she thinks the decision to limit such oil and gas wells on pristine federal land will hold up under donald trump's new administration.

and dry creek from c-dot. so far conditions are still a little slick in some areas. so be careful this morning. happening today -- a minnesota police officer charged with killing another man at a traffic stop will have his first court appearance today. officer jeronimo yanez shot and killed philando castile when the victim said he was carrying a handgun. he did have a permit to do so -- and prosecutors say he only told the officer about it. never actually pulled it out. the whole thing was caught on video. yanez will be arraigned this afternoon. despite family members stepping up one by one asking to be allowed in the courtroom during dylann roof's competency hearing -- a judge is

order to keep the accused charleston shooter's hearing closed will still stand. victims' families called upon the judge to change that -- arguing they had the right to be present at every hearing. others say they don't understand why the issue wasn't brought up until jury selection had started. after months of ignoring a civil lawsuit filed against him -- bobbie kristina brown's ex-boyfriend will have to pay 36- million dollars for her wrongful death. he was deemed le her death in september -- when he failed to appear in court. brown -- the daughter of whitney houston -- was found unresponsive in her bathtub in atlanta in january 20-15. she was in a coma for six months before passing away in hospice care. she was 22 years old. j-p morgan chase is paying out 264- million dollars for bribing the chinese government to get contracts. but they won't face prosecution for it. the settlement claims j-p morgan offered to hire family members of high ranking

government workers. some weren't even qualified. in exchange, the bank would get lucrative banking deals in the country. as apart of the agreement, the bank will avoid criminal bribery charges in what's called a "nonprosecution agreement". wells fargo is losing business after its recent phony account scandal. the bank says new customer accounts dropped 44-percent in october from a year earlier. account closings are also on the rise and half the amount of people are applying for credit c reputation took a hit when it was discovered bank employees opened up 2-million accounts without notifying customers to meet sales goals. does your child want to learn a trade rather than get a degree? you may want to consider sending them to a public college. new government documents show those with trade certificates from public schools tend to land better paying jobs. average earnings from public school goers was 9- thousand dollars more than those with for-profit certificate programs. a lot of students

themselves in the french wine. this resort hotel has been marking the day with a wine bath for the past eleven years. people there were served all you can drink wine while in the bath -- for about 27-dollars. people in france celebrated the day as well -- where the wine is actually made. tourists are drawn to the event -- including a visitor from new york. are waking up and bundling up.
