>> i've heard people say i'm the bee whisper. >> and she's the queen of bees, but no older than a princess. the girl with no fear. 9 news starts now. >. the cu buffs keep big title goals alive. today they got one step closer to making this year a dream season. they took on washington state at folsom field with a win. it's the f teams have played there in more than a decade. we'll take a closer look in sports. >> and a big night for csu. they're out in on track for a title, but the season ends making history. they played the final home game ever at hughes stadium. more than 6 million people have attended games there, and we were there with the last fans before they turn out the lights for good.

lights are turned off for the last time after the last game ever to be played at hughes stadium. there have been tributes before and during the game to the history of the place. a stadium that the rams have called home since 1968. >> i'm going to totally miss hughes. >> reporter: it's not easy leaving home. >> does anybody else in the university world have this? i think no. >> reporter: the place where memories are made, and family comes together. >> share share food, and we have such a good time together. >> reporter: through 49 seasons, 261 games, empty seats were filled at hughes stadium. >> middle section, almost to the top, row 57. right underneath the banner. >> reporter: john was a freshman 27 years ago. >> it's one of those things where, um, doing an interview here [ laughter ] >> reporter: he's been hanging around ever since.

have more fun facts about the old hughes stadium online at www.9news.com. a semi truck driver in the hospital tonight after this crash in sterling. police say several people reported the driver speeding and driving recklessly this evening. when officers arrived they found the truck crashed into an old aaron's building. the truck went straight through the building and part of way out the other side. the driver was pulled out and seriously hurt. police say speed was probably a factor in the crash. they're possible causes now. law enforcement plans to stay at the scene of the crash overnight because the building is not structurally safe. a head's up, arapahoe road and i-25 will remain closed until monday morning. today they worked to demolish the i-25 bridge over arapahoe. they'll have another full day of work ahead tomorrow. they plan to reopen the road by 5:00 a.m. monday morning before the morning rush. planners said shutting it down for a full weekend was easier

so called screen robbersable convicted tonight. the three burst into a bank last november wearing scream masks, and ordered customers and employees to the vault at gun point. the trio fled with $50,000, and afterward kicked in the door of a nearby home, shot the owner several times and stole his sanders. they crashed the van and assaulted a mother and daughter in the parking lot while trying to steal their car. nd a school bus at the nearby bus depot. richardson was arrested six days later. mason was arrested in january. fort collins police arrested two men on suspicion of murder. early this morning they found a man dead inside an abandoned building, several people were using the building as a shelter they say. the 30-year-old and 38-year-old are both charged with first- degree murder. police have not released the name of the victim or the cause of death.

the nation's most advanced weather satellite began its mission this afternoon. the 1 billion dollars goes-r satellite is aiming for a 22,000-mile high orbit, hurricaning out the faster asks -- churning out the fastest and sharpest pictures of hurricanes and tornado. it was built here in colorado, and an instrument on board the satellite was built at cu boulder. did not disappoint. today people in minnesota shoveled out from two feet of snow in parts of state. it caused hundreds of crashes and at least three deaths on the icy roads yesterday. it also caused power out annals impacking about -- outages impacting about 4,000 residents. >> >. and another colorado ski resort has the runs ready to go. breckenridge opened for the first time in season just in time for the thanksgiving

speak with the president-elect. >> romney is said to be considered the record secretary of state, but he did not answer questions about whether he would consider joining the trumpation. the cast of hamilton delivered a strong message to vice president elect mike pence who attended last night's show in new york. after the final curtain, one of the actors thanked pence for coming to the show, and then said the diverse cast was alarmed and anxious the new them. president-elect trump called the comments ahasment in a tweet -- harassment in a tweet and asked for an apology, but the actor said it wasn't harassment. >> and a social media strategist from los angeles is behind a so-called operation trump cup, asking donald trump sum porters to order under -- supporters to order under

protest or boycott. he said if the restaurants refuse, the customers should record it and share it online. starbucks said its ordering system has rarely been abused or taken advantage of, and they don't require employees to write or call out names. the facebook ceo has a plan of attack against fake news on social media. after the election he released a statement saying fake news on the site did not influence the results, butno facebook previously relied on users to report inaccurate or fake stories. now facebook is planning to improve fake news detection, make it easier to report false news, label stories as false, and crack down on ads with misinformation and work with journalists to fact check systems. nearly 1.8 billion people around the world use facebook,

just hop on the ski lift and take turns. they officially opened up their resort today. breckenridge opening up, so really exciting, and nice to see mother nature helping out some of the local ski resorts. temperatures today around the state still cool with the snow cover on the ground. 45 degrees at dia. even cooler up there in sterling at 39. low60s in lamar, 60s in eagle and leadville, and cool toward the western slope. tonight near the airport about 34, going with skies. the winds coming out of the southwest at 11 miles per hour, look at that wind chill, 25. so maybe still heading out the rest of the evening, grab the coat tonight. it's quiet across the mid section as high pressure has been building in. there's the storm system pushing through our area on thursday. now onto parts of great lakes and pushing into new england for tomorrow. across the western slope, rain showers coming in from the west coast into seattle, portland,

this storm makes its way into colorado late tomorrow night, at least in the mountains before hitting the metro area monday night into tuesday, and already you can see a couple little light snow showers nudging into the state's border. tonight teens and 20s in the mountains. here in the metro area we'll be in the mid-30s in greeley, and 20s across eastern colorado. few clouds out there, but man, if you live in the foothills i will notice the gusty tonight. in fact, they're going to be peaking around 30 to 40 miles per hour overnight. that's really when i think the worst is to come. tomorrow morning, 9:00, 10:00, still around 30 to 40 miles per hour. not too bad across the interstate. by 10:00 p.m. tomorrow evening it quiets down, but not for long because once this next storm system moves in tuesday night or monday night into tuesday, the winds yet again will be kicking up around the foothills and here in the metro area too.

mountain wave cloud developing, so i'm thinking more clouds than shine for the sunday afternoon across the i-25 corridor throughout the day. by 6:00 some clearing going on before more push in ahead of the next system, and look at it, the rain and snow already rolling in toward the san juans. to enjoy the next 24 hours. dry, mild temperatures, but the system will be barreling in. the strong cold front ushering in not only the cooler temperature, but decent snow fall in fact we have a winter storm watch. not into effect until tomorrow morning, but it will last for the flat tops, the grand valley through tuesday. 8 to 14 inches of fresh powder, great news for the ski resorts. tomorrow here in town it's more like springtime. low 60s. any of the snow will melt al way. partly to mostly cloudy skies

in 14 years. the buffs needed a win to keep the pac 12 championship hopes alive. taking it in from in close, game tied up at 14. the buffs went into the break though down 17-14. down but certainly not out. cu started the second half the way they started the first with a score. untouched touchdown, buffs on top 21-17. again, washington state retook le back. touchdown number three. he had a rushing touchdown hat trick, 28-24, colorado back on top. on top to stay thanks to another touchdown on the ground, lindsey would not be stopped. time for the largest crowd, 49,000 to rush the field, buffs win 38-24. aaron matas has more from boulder.
