"early today" starts right now. >> iright now police are on the hunt for a suspect in the murder of a san antonio police officer.

fatally shot in broad daylight. he was making a routine traffic stop when this vehicle pulled up behind the detective and the driver got out and walked up to the detective's window, and shot him twice in the head fatally. >> in my opinion what we know right now this was nothing short of an assassination of a police officer. he happened to be wearing the wrong colorers. blue. person of interest seen in this photo and they don't believe he has any relationship with the original motorist pulled over. san antonio officers were advised not to make traffic stops alone and ordered to call for back up instead. and the suspect is considered to be armed and dampgerous. the ambush attack happened sunday when a suspect pulled

face. it was unprovoked with the officer merely sitting in traffic. the 46-year-old is in critical but stable condition. he's expected to survive. they say he's a married father of three who has been with the department for 20 years. this morning police officers are ordered to travel in pairs as they use helicopters and s.w.a.t. teams in the search for the suspect who drove off in a silver car. it was a nonstop meetings for president elect donald trump as he met 21 different cabinet members at his new jersey golf club. he met a former school chancellor of washington d.c. also rudy giuliani, todd ricks and retired general, james mattis.
