southwest of the epicenter. young children are among six people killed in a school bus crash this afternoon in chattanooga, tennessee. the bus carried 30 fife students from kindergarten to 5th -- 35 students from was found mangled around a tree at the scene. 23 students were taken to the hospital. the bus driver is cooperating with them. there are counselors and cap -- chap chaplains on staff. we'll continue to update this story throughout the evening. thanksgiving kicks off the busy time of the season that hasn't gotten off to a good start. the same system is expected to bring rain that will mix with snow overnight into tomorrow. that's the outlook for denver and across northeastern colorado. it's good news but could make

70. that's where i only will we be dealing with the heavy mountain snowfall, but also some blowing snowfall, too. keep that in mind if you're taking off late tomorrow, tomorrow or even wednesday. the storm system is starting to already roll into southwestern colorado bringing rainfall to starts of the low lying valleys, a little snow to the san juans, we're seeing some popping up across the front range mouns an isolated shower possible in denver but not much. it won't be until tomorrow morning, 4 a.m. we kick off with rain, but that quickly switches over to snowfall by about 6:00, 6:30. if you're heading out on the road, you'll have to deal with that. luckily the storm system is a fast mover out of here by tomorrow evening and we will be well on our way to a decent looking thanksgiving holiday. we'll go over the watches and warnings, let you know how much snowfall i'm anticipating in the high country and i'll look

by . e hundreds of workers threatening to strike at chicago's o'hare international airport say they will make good on their threat after the thanksgiving weekend. the strike is set for next tuesday and it's part of a bigger national movement. most of the group works for private contractors at the airport including baggage land hers, cabin cleaners, janitors and wheelchair attendants. the workers want $15 an hour and union rights. a business management professor workers need the public support which is why they're waiting to strike after the holiday rush. >> it's primarily symbolic and there's where you're getting to one of the interesting issues here which is what does the general public feel about minimum wage and the rights of workers? >> organizers have protests across the country calling it a

will also walk off the job on that day. a man accused of killing a single mother of three nearly a decade ago is going on trial a second time. jury selection in the retrial of lester jones began today in grand junction who is with killing paige burgfeld. it wasn't until 2012 when a hiker discovered her remains 30 miles southeast jones' lawyer said there is no physical evidence connecting their client to the killing and said one of the other men could have killed her ruled out by investigators. the first jury could not reach a unanimous verdict. about. they have been arrested over and over again, people in and out of denver's jail system. tonight 9wants to know how much the top 10 most arrested people cost taxpayers. jeremy jojola is here with a preview of his investigation

four police officers shot in three states within a 24 hour period. authorities say in at least two shootings the police officers were targeted. one of those officers, a san antonio police detective, was killed. police in san antonio say they arrested a suspect in the shooting of 50-year-old detective benjamin marconi. they believe 31-year-old otis mccain ambushed marconi in his squad car writing a traffic ticket yards from police headquarters. the gunman pulled up behind >> absolutely a target. i feel the uniform was a target and the first person who happened along was the person that he targeted. >> in st. louis an officer has been treated and released in the hospital after being shot twice in the face by a gunman who pulled alongside the officer's car and opened fire. police call that an ambush. the suspect was later killed in a police shootout.

lamar, 45 in leadville. the winds have shifted to the east, northeast at 10 miles per hour, can't really feel the wind in the backyard which is fine with me. we're in the low 50s. the winds will kick up again as the storm gets closer, especially tomorrow afternoon. in the northeast they are getting slammed with winter weather and we're just watching. the center of this storm is rotating in across the four corners and pushing into the front range overniin that's when we'll see the heaviest snow. right now heavy bands across the san juans through telluride, box canyon, along i- 70, mainly a rain/snow mix and a little snowfall coming down into parts of the foothills, nederland through evergreen, maybe a little rain toward conifer. tonight temperatures flirting with the freezing mark, cooler in northeastern colorado and up

winds kicking up from time to time. i don't anticipate the showers to move in after midnight, really about three or 4 a.m. there's the -- 3 or 4 a.m. there's the storm that rolls in tomorrow and right out. on the backside we'll watch cooler air pour in. we could watch some of the stronger storm bands roll into eastern plains as the storm starts to push out tomorrow afternoon. a slew of winter storm warnings and watches conditioning for the front range mountain areas above 9,000 feet there's 4 to 10 inches possible, for the central mountains 6 to 12 and about 8 to 14 for parts of the san juans, especially the western san juans. the west of the night quiet in the metro area. the snow is going strong. overnight into tomorrow we start to see some rain 4:30, 5 5 a.m.

cold air. it switches to snowfall, but it doesn't last long. by 2:00 the rain starts to push across the eastern plains, clear skies and a cold night tomorrow. the winds will kick up as this front pushes through, 15 to 20, possibly 35 miles per hour. by tomorrow evening everything quiets down. about 43 degrees. we'll look at 1 to 3 inches of snowfall in the metro area. the higher amounts will be to the south and west. highs reaching the 30s and 40s, some spots maybe 50s in anticipate as much snowfall for you folks. this storm is a one hit wonder out of town by wednesday and thursday. we have that little cooloff in time for the thanksgiving holiday. the winds kick up. maybe we could look at another 60-degree day next weekend. perfect for maybe setting up the holiday lights. one of the best known quarterbacks in the nfl wants to join the broncos. >> it's time to find out if the feeling is newspaper.
