? ? [ >> jimmy: that's what i'm talkin' about. hey! hot crowd. hot crowd tonight here. welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome. welcome to "the tonight show." this is it, baby. you made it. [ cheers and applause ] this is it. you're here. thank you so much, everybody. let's kick off the week. here's what people are talking about. big news over the weekend. on friday, donald trump agreed
10:38 pm
then on saturday, he called the u.s. treasury department and said, "i'd like to make a a withdrawal. [ laughter ] is that how this works?" [ applause ] get this. donald trump claimed that he decided to settle the trump university lawsuit so he could focus on running the country. then he went back to tweeting insults at the cast of "hamilton." [ laughter and applause ] get that out of the way first. did you hear about this? vice president-elect mike pence weekend and he was booed by people in the audience when he entered the theater. if the crowd wasn't mad enough already, pence waited until a a quiet scene to open up a bag of skittles. and you go, "come on, what is this guy doing? come on!" [ applause ] this is pretty interesting here. after mike pence was booed at "hamilton," donald trump tweeted that he heard that the show was, quote, "highly overrated." [ laughter ]
10:39 pm
actually tweeted a lot about other broadway shows as well. for instance, he tweeted, "just saw 'rent,' such a sad story. i teared up when the landlord didn't evict those kids." >> steve: wow. [ laughter and applause ] wow. >> jimmy: another time, trump tweeted, "can't believe i just wasted two hours watching 'hairspray.' only went because i thought it was about me." [ laughter and applause ] no, "hairspray." >> steve: yeah, it's a a different thing. >> jimmy: trump also tweeted, "just attended 'the lion king.' total rip-off of the movie. wtf, unol. [ applause ] finally, he tweeted, "wish i'd sat in the front row when i saw 'cats' because all i wanted to do was grab one of them. i can do it because i'm a a star." [ laughter and applause ] >> steve: wow. >> jimmy: see what i'm saying? >> steve: that doesn't make any sense. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: at least he's out there supporting the arts. >> steve: he's supporting the arts. >> jimmy: he's out there supporting the arts. >> steve: you know what? he paid for his tickets. god bless him. >> jimmy: meanwhile, former texas governor rick perry was set to meet with donald trump today and is rumored to be under consideration for
10:40 pm
a veteran of the united states air force and the former governor of the 12th largest economy in the world. but on the other hand -- ? [ laughter and applause ] actually, trump seems to be getting along surprisingly well with some establishment republicans. in fact, house speaker john boehner says he and donald trump are texting buddies. i'm sorry, tanning buddies. la i'm not wearing my glasses. on wednesday, at the white house, president obama will pardon his final thanksgiving turkey. i got to say, after all these years, i'm not sure he enjoys it as much as he used to. check this out. >> today, i have the awesome responsibility of granting a a presidential pardon to a pair of turkeys. we can't wait to pardon these turkeys. and with that, i think we are going to bestow the official pardon. the most powerful position in

responsibilities. this is not one of them. it is -- it is a little, uh -- puzzling that i do this every year. [ laughter ] >> oh, boy. >> jimmy: oh, boy. [ applause ] oh, boy, here we go. he may not be into it, but you know the turkey will go back to the farm and say, "hey, guys, you'll never guess who i just met. wait, where is everybody? [ laughter ] guys, i just met president obama." [ applause ] some more thanksgiving news, i read that 15 million americans will eat at a restaurant on thanksgiving this year. because when your family starts arguing about politics on thanksgiving, the first thing you think is, "we should be doing this in public." [ laughter and applause ] that's where we should be. and get this. the tsa just released a list of thanksgiving leftovers that you can carry on and others that you have to check.
10:42 pm
yeah. saying that you're allowed to bring turkey on the plane but not gravy. >> steve: wow. >> jimmy: yeah. which would explain things when you're at the airport security and you see a bunch of people chugging their gravy next to a a trash can. [ laughter and applause ] rules are rules, you know, you got to do it. hurry up. they're taking off, dude! and finally, i read about a a woman from california who is driving by herself across the country to visit every single costco in the u.s. so far, she's traveled 2,000 there you go. we have a great show tonight. give it up for the roots! 11:03 pm
suggested daisy, i was like daisy sudeikis and i was like, that's great. and then we -- then her middle name is josephine. my father's middle name is joseph. and i also have a great-grandfather named joseph. and liv had a great-grandmother named josephine so we -- we made it josephine. so now she has the same initials. i'm daniel jason sudeikis. my father. >> jimmy: you're daniel? >> yeah, yeah, yeah. but i --but -- but my mom -- >> jimmy: i didn't know that. >> i know. not a lot of people do. i mean it's out there. you know, it's out there. >> jimmy: now it is. >> it's on -- >> jimmy: big news. >> it's on facebook, which means it's real. >> jimmy: it's real. oh, yeah, no. are you sure? >> i don't know if you read the news. >> jimmy: no, i didn't know that. if it's on there? >> you know the original name for the roots? the rootsy tootsy fresh and fruitsys. >> jimmy: no, that's not true at all. >> i read that on facebook. >> jimmy: you read that on facebook? that's not true. so now she's daisy josephine -- she has the same initials as me and her grandfather, djs. >> jimmy: that's fantastic, that's great. and does she get to watch a a little bit of "son of zorn"? >> no. no she doesn't. >> jimmy: but i like it's a a cartoon but it's also live action as well. >> it's mostly live action, just me as a cartoon. >> jimmy: i love it, though. it's something totally different and i understand they
