reconsider disqualified candidates and pay a ten-thousand dollar fine. a spokesman says the department didn't know it was breaking the law. while more than 40 states have rules keeping law enforcement agencies from hiring non-citizens -- colorado does not have that restriction. this man is now the new leader of the f-b-i unit in denver. calvin shivers is now in charge of the denver division -- which is responsible for both colorado and wyoming. he's been with the f-b-i since 19-90 -- i's chief of the violent crimes against children in washington d-c. he's replacing thomas ravenelle -- who was transferred to d-c. we now know the names of the two people who lost their lives in a house fire -- a mother and her 33- year-old son. the denver post reports -- 56-year- old janelle vargas died the day the fire broke out wednesday morning -- while her son gabriel died over the weekend. the fire happened at a home on east seventth avenue. investigators say

say though officials in europe are disrupting any plots. a 7 point 4 earthquake off the coast of japan is causing tsunami's. the epicenter was off the coast in the pacific ocean -- about 180 miles north of tokyo. people in the nations' capital felt the quake. so far there are no reports of anyone killed or injured. and the u-s pacific command says there hasn't been any damage to u-s installations in japan. a community confused and heartbroken this morning -- after a school bus packed with 35 children -- flipped and crashed into a tree in chattanooga, tennesse. it happened monday afternoon. 24 of the children -- ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade -- were rushed to the hospital. five children died. police questioned the bus driver --

overnight. investigators have a warrant to take the black box out of the bus -- as they try to figure out exactly what caused the deadly crash. the man who police say shot and killed an officer - is saying he was angry when he committed crime -- and just lashed out. san antonio police say otis mckane is accused of gunning down detective banjamin macroni while he was in his patrol car outside of police headquarters. the 31-year-old is now charged with capital murder. mckane says his anger stems from several custody battles -- and he says quote 'he lashed out at someone who didn't deserve it.' president obama is handing out his final round of presidential medals
