the dow jones industrial stock market topping 19,000 for first time in history. it jumped up earlier today past 19,000 then dropped back down. in the past couple minute, it rose. with the one point drop, we know the markets go back and forth. the point of this is, this is the first time we've seen hit go above 19,000 or hit 19,000. experts analyzing this saying we're in transition from interest rate driven market to earnings driven. expect a lot of talk about this throughout the day giving you a look at the markets, good news on that screen. thanks for joining us for 9 news at noon. it's beginning to look a lot like november. this is what hit should look like in colorado. we've been starned -- been starved for snow. now we have got a lot. this is frisco a couple hours ago. matt shot it for us.

delight everyone coming to ski or snow board. looking at it gets us in the holiday spirit. we like seeing this. it's been so long. pull out your ice skates. the. rink in sky line park in southwest denver is now open. celebrations taking place downtown, started an hour ago. the rink is free if huff your own skates. if you don't, rent them for $2 or donate a book to children's hospital colorado and get skate rental. she is ready to go have fun down there belin, this is so nice to see snowfall, snow rinks. we've been overdue for stuff like this. >> you said well, it looks like november. >> this is what it's supposed to be. we were feeling like august still. >> it's funny that last time this -- last tuesday i should say we were close to breaking a record high. here we are today with rain and snow early this morning.

like they're in the 20s. rain and snow earlier this morning might have made for a wet morning commute. here's that rain and snow now. it's mainly along i-25 out in the eastern plains. here in the city, it has died down. light snow showers falling in the foothills on the eastern plains. rain and snow bands out there as well as northern colorado near fort morgan. they're getting in on snow now. sterling is on theme of the state where they have rain right now. for us, we're done in the city. left over now with clouds and strong winds. see flags moving right side of our studios. winds strong e.g. on the eastern plains a. long i-25 gusting up to 20 and 30 miles per hour. that's making our temperatures feel colder. cloudy skies start to clear up this afternoon and evening. when that happens, our temperatures are really going to get cold.

rescue mission. it's the annual thanksgiving turkey distribution. all players helped to give out 2500 turkey and food boxes. good thing they've got big muscles to give out thousands of the turkeys. the positions include boxes, potato, turkey, thanksgiving goodies. just awesome. broncos aren't stopping there. super bowl champs had to extra mile. now they're headed to the thanksgiving meal for the salvation army. a bus filled with elementary school kids crashes into a tree. five children have died now the bus driver is facing charges. sarah has more on the investigation. >> the scene of a bus nearly

reminder of the children that died after the bus driver went off the road. >> three deaths, those were third grade. one was kindergartener and one was first grader. >> he is charged with five counts of vehicul reckless driving. >> of the 37 elementary school students on board, 34 were rushed to the hospital. several are still fighting for their lives in desperate need of blood. it's why local blood banks are asking for volunteers to help meet the need. people in the community are coming out in droves to support. >> the most unnatural thing in the world is for a parent to mourn the loss of a child.

thanksgiving. even for the ntsb it's personal. >> we send our condolences to parents of children. my daughter rides a school bus everyday. i understand that. we'll do everything we can to try to prevent this from happening again. >> investigators have a warrant to remove the black box from the bus as they try to determine what caused this tragedy. nbc news. >> such a sad story. president-elect donald trump unconventional as a candidate is again. he announced plans for first 100 days. i want the next generation of production and innovation to happen right here on our great homeland. >> the president-elect vowed swift action in six areas by executive order. they include withdrawing from the transpacific trade deal

it involves time and red tape. trump also says he will impose a five year ban on executive officers becoming lobbyists. he touched on all important topic of immigration. >> i'll direct the department of labor to investigate all abuses of visa programs that undercut the american worker. he'll go to thanksgiving with his family. the state department is asking you to be extra careful. isis and al qaeda could be planning terror attacks in europe. we get more from the information center with 9 news reporter colleen. >> they say there's focus on upcoming holiday season. this is not what you want to hear as you prepare to go on a holiday vacation to europe.

sometimes we don't think things could happen. these are credible threats over here. they want you to take this seriously. the state department is advising festivals, outdoor markets where attacks could come with no or little warning. terrorists could use a wide variety and non conventional weapons. because of this advisory, security will be tight as you're traveling. they say be prepared for additional screenings, unexpected disruptions. they say this special advisory ends on february 20th, 2017. obviously that's three months away. a long holiday travel season ahead of us. they're just asking you take this seriously, be extra aware of your surroundings. they have this issued for europe at this time.

. hi everyone. have a wonderful tuesday. it looks different than a week ago when we were close to breaking a record high. looks different from 24 hours ago. our temperature difference is about 24 degrees from yesterday around this time. and it looks different. snow in colorado. especially in the high country. we have awesome pictures from our viewers. jeremy swanson took this picture at they got three inches in past 24 hours. in fact, aspen and snow mass is expected to open november 24th. they're going to have limited mountain use. still, hey, that is a win. the big winners winners is the san juan mountains. 17 inches of snowfall in the past 48 hours. a basin, loveland, breck 1 to 3 inches. travel advisories in the high

area. statewide snow pack is at 40%. give it time. we still have to endure snowiest months out of the year. temperatures 39dia, winds 23 miles per hour. the temperatures feel like they're in the 20s out here in the backyard. our temperatures around 33 degrees. we're done with rain and snow along the urban corridor. here's what's happening. the center of the storm system is out towards kansas. we're on the back side of it. we still have rain and snow showers out in plains. lingering showers in the mountains. the winds is what we have to contend with now in eastern colorado. gusts up to 30 and 40 miles per hour. those winds will be improving through tonight as the storm moves further and further way. temperatures now in the 40s and 30s for much of the state. 29 ledville. your highs today in the low 40s. in the mountains, temperatures in the 30s. here's a look at your future cast. as i mentioned, we're done with rain and snow.

plains, after 3:00 p.m., you're done with wet weather. lingering snow showers this afternoon near the divide. overnight, across colorado we're done with rain and snow. skies start to clear. temperatures get really cold. tonight 25 will be your overnight low. temperatures across the state will drop to teens in some spots in the high country. for tomorrow, going to be warmer, high of 56 degrees. another cool down on thursday for thanksgiving day. it will turn windy that day. on friday, h back to 60s on saturday. that's not going to last for long. we'll have another small chance of showers sunday with high of 46 degrees. a reminder this friday we'll be lighting the lights at city and county building of denver. temperatures will be around 48 degrees at 6:00 p.m. we hoping make it out there. i have been practicing my songs. i'll be singing out there cheryl and corey will be hosting along with me.

most are 5:00 or 6:00. the obama administration says physical force should not be used as punishment in schools. if you're surprised schoolings still do things like paddling, you're not alone. john king sent a letter to state leaders today. in that letter, he calls corporal punishment harmful and ineffective. he says it's often disproportionately applied to students of color and students with disabilities. this type banned in 28 states. there are 15 states that allow corporal punishment. seven others don't expressly prohibit it. it's one thing for kanye west to have an outburst. he's known for those. when he went on a ranted -- rant during the last show and cancelled part of his tour, they started to think something was not right. he's in a los angeles hospital

than the benefits. experts say the unnecessary surgery can affect thyroid function. is your child's school too dusty? a study from boston's children's hospital finds it might make their asthma worse. dust samples were taken at inner city schools. allergies were low but undetectable. mouse allergens were associated with lower lung function increased asthma symptoms. a little music training can make a huge difference for kids with adhd. it looked at kids that underwent mri scans and took music lessons for nine months. the new mri scans showed changes in the brain. they had increase in fiber connections. prior research linked adhd and autism to decreases in fiber

kids can have high blood pressure. researchers say a lot of kids are not getting the proper treatment from doctors. the children's hospital of philadelphia studied this issue. researchers looked at the health records of 400,000 kids with abnormal blood pressure readings. less than a quarter with high blood pressure have been diagnosed. of those, 6% were getting medication for high blood pressure. experts say uncontrolled high blood pressure can ire
