happened in boulder county this year. a semi truck hit the cyclist near the area east of 28th and arapahoe last night. boulder police are working to piece together what happened.. this public service annoucement on distracted driving was released by the colorado state patrol on friday morning... the same morning trooper donahue was hit and killed on the side of i-25 while assisting another accident. it's the third csp trooper death in the last 18 months... we thought this is a perfect time for a refreaser course-- on the rules of the road. we sat down with csp and castle rock fire- the department that unforunatly has resonded to several of these tragedies recently... we wanted to know what they are seeing out on the roads when it comes to drivers, and what we can do to help tho today -- special patrols by several agencies will be out looking for

agencies will be out looking for drivers not obeying that "move over" law. douglas county deputies say one truck driver didn't follow that rule... and ended up killing state trooper cody donahue last week. his funeral is tomorrow. the search for a missing highlands ranch family has ended in the worst way. police say they found a mother and her two sons dead... in the family van... a day after they disappeared. the bodies of jennifer laber -- and her two little boys, adam and ethan , were in the van parked in a loading bay at what once was a sports authority. the 36-year-old's husband first

police are now trying to figure out how they died. what they do know...is -- there are no suspects -- and no threat to the public. a denver police officer is now cleared in the shooting of a 17- year-old. a shooting that was partially caught on the officer's body camera... corporal jeffrey heinis was checking out reports of an armed carjacking when he came acorss the teen back on august 16th. the 17-year-old never pointed a gun at the officer -- but heinis says he was worried the suspect would carjack someone else if he escaped. the teen wasn't killed from the gunshot -- and has plead guilty to felony menacing charges. someone who students should be able to trust is

assault. jefferson county deputies arrested p-e teacher michael bueno yesterday morning -- after finding him with a 17-year-old runaway at her family's cabin in pine. bueno teaches at west jefferson middle -- and coaches at conifer high. president-elect donald trump and mike pence will head to the v-p elect's old stomping grounds today. the two leaders will travel to indiana -- where pence was the governor -- to make an announcement about the carrier the air conditioning company was planning to shut down the plant and move it to mexico. but after making a deal with the president-elect -- they're keeping about 800 jobs there in indianapolis. there haven't been many other details about the agreement. but it looks like state tax incentives are behind the announcement, but we don't know the details. the green party is now trying to get a recount in michigan. former presidential nominee jill stein has formally filed that request but some republicans are accusing her of illegally coordinating with hillary clinton. wisconsin

worked with clinton to raise seven-thousand dollars for recounts in three states. stein's campaign manager says she's not coordinating with any other campaign though. the complaint says clinton is the only person who could benefit from a recount.

slopes? keystone is kicking off the new month by allowing kids to ski free today. it's the start of the resort's colorado family ski month. the whole month will be filled with family-friendly activities. so today-- anyone 12 and younger can ski for free. despite the slow start to ski season -- hotels say it hasn't impacted any bookings at the resorts. the denver post reports 'stay aspen snowmass' says bookings ar as strong as they've ever been for vacations around christmas and new years. they say they got a number of calls especially after launching a black friday lodging deal. last year the state had a record 13- million visits to the ski resorts. we'll see how they do this year. if skiing and snow isn't your thing --

tacoma, washington police are mourning the death of an officer. a suspect killed him while the officer was responding to a domestic violence call late last night. police say no one else was hurt. they rescued an eight-year-old and eleven-year-old from the home where the suspect was holing himself up. officers say that suspect is still in the home. the officer was taken to the hospital -- where he died. police still haven't released the

while on the job last week will be laid to rest today. wayne state university officer collin rose's funeral will be today. a suspect shot and killed the 29-year- old officer on the university's campus in detroit last wednesday. hundreds of law enforcement officers are expected to be there. thousand of u-s veterans will give those on the front lines of the dakota access pipeline protest a rest. some two-thousand vets -- who are part of the group veterans stand for standing rock -- will take over those front lines the veterans say they want to call attention to how law enforcement has violently treated the protesters. they plan to set up camp on sunday. the protestors are trying to stop expansion of a oil pipeline near the the ashes of fidel castro are on their way from havana to the late leader's final resting place -- the city of santiago. the 500 mile procession started wednesday -- tracing in reverse the route castro and his rebels took after overthrowing the government in 19-59.

the country's capitol will be aglow tonight -- when the first family lights up the national christmas tree. it's the 94th annual pageant of peace ceremony. many performers will join the first family to ring in the holiday season. including james taylor, kelly clarkson, garth brooks, and trisha yearwood. president obama welcomed four nobel prize winners to the white house wednesday. but singer bob just as he he wont' be at the award ceremony in sweden. dylan was awarded the nobel prize for literature -- but it took a while for the agency to even find and give him the award. reports say kanye west is out of the hospital after checking in a week ago for exhaustion. t-m-z and e news report the rapper is now home with his wife kim kardashian and their two kids. west checked into the hospital on the 21st -- after days of erratic and angry behavior. he abruptly cancelled the rest

need to get out of the cold and head somewhere warm? starting today -- volaris will launch it's first nonstop flight from denver international airport to monterrey, mexico. the city is about 150 miles southwest of the texas border. about eleven- thousand people traveled between denver and monterrey last year. and another first in the skies -- frontier airlines is making its first trip to cuba today. the trip began for

from miami to cuba will get there around five this evening. we spoke to some people who started their trip from d-i-a. jack lopez says he's excited to meet his extended family that lives there. american airlines made the first trip earlier this week. it's the first time the u-s to cuba in about 50 years. 51-thousand square feet, four stories, and 51 rooms... town leaders are excited for the new hotel coming to downtown parker. but some people who live there don't share the same enthusiasm. the opposing views,

has been trying to sell their current offices to help develop mainstreet more. but there's some pushback over the plan they've come up with. mars development company wants to put a 51 room... 51 thousand square foot building on the site. it'd have shops and restaurants on the lower floor... some people are worried mainstreet is getting too big... others we spoke with think it's great.
