separate crimes. 'll tell you what they're accused of doing. and a live report from carson city. fox5 is there for the legislature's special session to ensure a billion dollar plant makes it's way to the valley. we start with breaking news tonight... police are investigating a robbery and possible shooting in ??? i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. you are looking live at the scene near charleston and rancho. police say there was a possible shooting. homicide detectives are on scene. we will bring you more information as soon as it becomes available. people are asked to avoid the area. breaking into houses -- tying up and severly beating the homeowners -- then stealing their property. three men are indicted on 46 felony charges including sexual assault. i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. police arrested the suspects connected to a series of home invasions that happened over the summer in the southwest part of

moore is live from metro headquarters describing in detail how they attacked their victims. these home invasions happened over a five-week span back in july and august. and police say they targeted mostly senior citizens -- and at least one of those home invasions involved sexual assault. imagine that you're at home, with your family, watching tv, making dinner, and all of a sudden the door to your house gets broken in. that was the chilling reality for several southwest valley homeowners this summer. police say 42-year-old wilbert knight, 28-year-old brandon black, and 23-year-old quincy williams were indicted for multiple home invasion charges. around late july, early august, in the early evening hours, police say they broke into homes, sometimes masked. they used zipties to restrain their victims, seriously beat them with handguns and revolvers. these aren't easy cases to solve, because the crimes

of times, phsyical evidence is not left behind. but in this case, detectives were able to gather clues from the scene, and after collecting dna evidence, metro identified the suspects by the end of august. the other thing that helped out, and is always a help for everybody in the community is sometimes we have neighbors that are keeping an eye on the neighborhood and they see something that just doesn't look right, and that gets reported to the police. two of the suspects are being held in federal custody because of previous felony convictions. back in 2006, black was convicted of felonies involving carjackings, and in 2012 he was convicted of felony for being in posession of explosives. and williams was convicted of second-degree robbery and escaping police custody in 1992. but district attorney steve wolfson says these current charges are brought against them for committing some of the worst crimes he has ever seen. if my office has anything to do with it, and it does, they will not see the day of light, or the light of day i should say, for a long, long time. coming up at 11 --

unusal with this case. but for now -- reporting live -- rachel moore fox five news -- local -- las vegas. one of the indictments handed down to all of the suspects is first- degree kidnapping. if convicted the men could face life in prison. one person is dead after a fight at a valley apartment complex this afternoon. metro police say just after noon officers responded to calls at an apartment complex on harmon and boulder highway. when they arrived they found a man stabbed in the chest. police say the man who died... and the suspects were squatters and did not live at the complex. 'the fight escalated where a person was stabbed we believe that occured in the second floor apartment' police say they are now looking for a white blonde woman about 30 years old... and a black man about the same age. the man was last seen wearing a red and white striped hat...and red pants. anyone with information is asked to call crime stoppers. a clark county school district employee is accused of

with the help of his brother. police say the information technology employee-- gordon goujon-- was supposed to be transfering the tablets from jesse scott elementary school to another school to be re-imaged.... but the transfer was never made. police later traced three of the stolen ipads to a pawn shop... and were able to connect them to gogoclaims he didn't know they were stolen. police say gordon goujon will be held accountable. "due to the fact that he was in the care and control of 40 ipads he worked for i.t. for the school district we were able to charge him with the theft of all 40" gordon goujon has been placed on leave with out pay. district officials say he passed the school districts vetting process and has been working with the school system for about two years we now know more about a custodian--- arrested for performing private sex acts inside a classroom. school police say michael skelton is facing numerous charges

altering food, water or medicine and open and gross lewdness as well as destruction of property. according to the arrest report-- police set up cameras after a teacher-- at dondero elementary school found bodily fluids on her desk... and on other property. he was seen on the surveillance video in her classroom and later admitted to performing sex acts. skelton is due in court tomorrow. police want to make sure people are safe on the roads this holiday season... and are cracking down on impaired drivers. they have a d-u-i checkpoint set up at charleston and arlington... that's just west of nellis. police say they see a high volume of alcohol related accidents in this area. the checkpoint will be running until three a-m. metro's last d-u-i checkpoint was november 18th, at paradise and tropicana. out of the 59 hundred cars that passed through the checkpoint, 19 were arrested. metro police and in north las vegas.... are asking the public for help

of burglaries. police say the suspects break into the businesses between midnight and four a-m... and break the glass of the front doors or drive through the window. the suspects are in their 20s... with short hair and goatees. they have been seen in a small white s-u-v or station wagon. if you have any information.... you are asked to contact crimestoppers at 702-385-55-55 for the second time in two weeks an inmate has walked away from a jean conservation camp. take a look-- this is mary mitchell. the nevada department of corrections says she was discovered missing from the minimum custody facility last night. she is serving time for grand larceny. theft and burglary. mitchell is 5 foot four.... bown eyes and brown hair and has multiple tattoos. anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call 9- 1-1. last tuesday another inmate walked away from the pioche conservation camp... he is now back in custody. state lawmakers have allocated

million dollars to test thousands of backlogged rape kits. "with not testing these kits, we have sexual assaulters and rapers roaming the street. being able to do this, we will bring them to justice, and victims who have been sitting waiting for justice for a long time " across the state 75 hundred sexual assault evidence sitting in police years. 63 hundred are in las vegas alone. the money includes one point dollars from a settlement this summer with jpmorgan chase in a debt collection practices case toward the rape kit effort. funding is also coming from the u-s justice department and based sexual elimination program. brian sandoval called for a special session today to talk about the deal with electric car maker faraday future. fox5s miguel joins us now from

ended. the senate bill for the faraday future deal has just been presented to the senate session ... the bill deals with tax abatements a few hours ago the assembly was given their bill to look over which deals more with workforce programs ... after hours of anticipation and months of negotiations bills involving the deal with faraday future have been handed to law makers, now its their turn to look them over and see if they feel this is the right deal for nevada... assembly bill 1, was presented to the assembly around 7:30 pm. it deals with higher education programs preparing people for the jobs created by faraday and also requires workforce training programs to have a diversity action plan.

we have an update to the breaking news we brought you at the top of the hour... one person is dead after a robbery... and shooting at a doctor's office you are looking live at the scene near charleston and rancho. police say they were called around 7:15 for a robbery... when they arrived they found a woman in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. they say the doctor, an employee and a patient were in the office at the time... there were two suspects... male and female. police believe the deceased-- is one of the suspects. the other suspect is on the run.

republican debate of 2015 is officially in the books. thirteen candidates squaring off in two separate debates. republican candidates focusing on the number one concern for voters... terrorism. and throughout the night they took plenty of shots at one another. analysts--- saying their were several standouts... for potential voters... front runner donald trump... came out swinging...new jersey governor chris christie and senator ted cruz-- who has been picking up steam in the polls. and donald trump and jeb bush came out the gate-- swinging. (nats) police officers stood side by side in long lines -- as protesters approached. crowds gathered in the street. but the family of freddie gray and the city of baltimore urge calm. (baltimore mayor/stephanie rawlings-blake) "if some choose to protest they must peacefully demonstrate. that is their right. but i also want to be very, very clear about any potential disturbances in our city. we are prepared to respond". gray died after being transported in a police van. william porter was the first officer out of six tried. prosecutors argued porter ignored gray's pleas for help. they also said porter did not buckle gray properly into a seat belt and did not follow police policy. porter's defense said the opposite. arguing standard protocol was to not use seat belts. the jury considered the
