just before noon today when he responded to a domestic violence call. that's when an individual opened fire striking him in the armpit area. police are saying the officer is "lucky" to be stable and that the repercussions of the shooting could have been worse. he's doing ok. he was lucky. i mean he was unlucky for the factr that he was shot but hes lucky that he's doing ok . and police have yet to release the name of the wounded officer but we do know that he's married and has a son in town who visited him here at umc following the shooting. police also added that while the officer is in a lot of pain - he is expected to make a full recovery. since arriving at the hospital earlier this afternoon - police say the officer has undergone a cat scan and is receiving the necessary treatment to make a full recovery. reporting live from university medical center...

for the very latest on the shooting and manhunt - stay up to date at fox five vegas - dot com. the first charges in the san bernardino shooting have been filed. "enrique marquez" the friend and former neighbor of the "syed farook" - is accused of providin material support to terrorists. the f-b-i says he purchased two of the rifles used in the attack that happened just two weeks ago.... in which farook and his wife killed 14 people. "marquez" told investigators that he had no prior knowledge to the attack - but admitted to buying the two a-r-15's. he also admittied to plotting an attack in 20-12 with "farook" that they did not carry out. "if he is telling investigators that he purchased these weapons because he felt that if farook did it would draw attention or that he couldn't pass the background check, he is essentially a straw purchaser."

marquez also faces immigration charges for a sham marriage. he and farook's brother are married two sisters from russia. president obama spent the morning with his national security team at the national counterterrorism center. he received an update on the san bernardino investigation - and told americans that at the moment - there is no specific or credible information about an attack - but urged vigilance. the president said the united states is doing what it can to keep the country safe.
