tonight we're getting a look at the man accused of shooting a metro police officer... this is 38- year-old teag fox, who was on the run for about five hours yesterday before police arrested him. besides a few traffic related cases ... the air force veteran doesn't have a criminal history in las vegas. fox5's miguel martinez-valle is live where the shooting happened with new information about the fox's arrest. metro tells us the gunfire exchange that ended with one officer in the hospital and fox on the run happened here, at this complex on south las vegas boulevard... and while the shooting led to the area around the incident being shut down... fox was finally located and

year veteran with he is expected to recovery. a suspect driving a stolen car led police on a short valley neighborhood. officers tried to pull the car over around 8-30 this morning near lamb and boulder highway... check showed the stolen the night before. the driver sped off... then got out of the car in a neighborhood and jones. the stolen vehicle hit parked outside a home. police say the suspect hid in a backyard... while officers set up a perimeter in the neighborhood. they arrested the suspect a few hours later. "good investigative police work. had air unit watching incident from eyes in the sky." paul e. culley and vail pitmann elementary schools were on lockdown while police were in the area. no one was hurt. a house fire kiilled a cat and

injured. it happened around 4-30 this morning at a single-story house near charleston and the 95. ten units from clark county fire department and las vegas fire and rescue responded after reports of an explosion. firefighters were able to put out the flames in less than fifteen minutes. a woman who says she lives in the home says she got away from the flames, but then a dog bit her. "one patient outside. went in got fire out extinguishing fire. found another burn patient inside. taken to umc." a cat was found dead in the home. firefighters stayed on scene while southwest gas worked on a gas leak outside. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire. the company that sold the review- journal to billionaire sheldon adelson is defending the transaction. the c-e-o of gatehouse media says the company had no intention to resell the

out of duty to its shareholders. mike reed says gatehouse didn't disclose the buyer due to a confidentiality agreement - and rejected the notion that the paper's integrity had been challenged. gatehouse is a subsidiary of "new media investment group" - and will continue to run the newspaper under the new deal. adelson is the sands corporation c-e- o... and a major republican party donor. under pressure from federal safety regulators - allegiant air is increasing training for pilots and dispatchers. the las vegas based company has been under scrutiny since july. that's when a plane operated by two allegiant executives who are also pilots made an emergency landing at a closed airport in fargo, north dakota... after one of the pilots told controllers he didn't have enough fuel to reach another airport. the f-a-a says its investigation into the incident closed in october with a "letter of correction" - which is not as serious as an enforcement

a follow-up letter this month. santa is pretty busy this time of year gearing up for christmas... but today he took a break to try and help put a stop to pedestrian related deaths. fox5's cyndi lundeberg shows us santa's mission. santa is taking a break from his sleigh... and hitting the streets of las vegas. friday saint nick spent his morning reminding pedestrians and drivers how to keep safe on roadways. authorities say this fall has been particularly deadly for pedestrians. our goal is prevention wed rather not have these fatalities we've had 52 since november 1st santa and his helpers from metro police... nevada highway patrol and the clark county school district were on hand passing out tickets for pedestrians crossing unsafely and drivers not yielding the cross walk to santa they saw the santa and just kept speeding officers were also looking for drivers passing in school zones.. speeders and cell phone users. cyndi lundeberg fox

democratic presidential hopeful bernie sanders takes the democratic national committee to court. fox's mike emanuel shows us why the vermont senator claims the party is showing favoritism to rival hillary clinton. vermont senator bernie sanders' campaign is fighting back threatening to take the democratic national committee to court. the d-n-c accused the sanders campaign of improperly accessing confidential voter information gathered by rival hillary clinton's campaign. campaign manager jeff weaver came out swinging claiming party leadership is actively favoring clinton. weaver says: "the individual leaders of dnc can support hillary clinton in any way they want if the dnc continues to hold our data hostage and

attack the heart and soul of our grassroots campaign, we'll be in federal court this afternoon seeking immediate relief." the sanders campaign fired josh uretsky - its national data director, and is blaming the vendor the dnc uses ngp van for dropping its firewall between the candidates' data. the sanders campaign has been suspended from accessing the system -- including its own information. weaver says: "information which is the lifeblood of this campaign we need our data which has been stolen by the dnc. the dnc chair strongly denied the charge of favoritism. wasserman-schultz says: "i can be quite certain that if the shoe were on the other foot, and the clinton campaign had inappropriately accessed sanders' campaign proprietary information, i am confident that is the decision they would expect from and it is the same decision that we would make." clinton campaign press secretary brian fallon said the data was breached "by sanders campaign staff in 25 searches by four different

into the sanders' campaign account." meanwhile, a new fox news poll reveals clinton has a 56-34 lead over sanders with former maryland governor martin o'malley at 2% among democratic primary voters. this comes the day before the third democratic presidential debate. in the new york times yesterday, frank bruni criticized "the invisible democratic debates", and wrote quote: "what a shamefully imbalanced primary season this has been... the democratic candidates have, in contrast, hidden in a closet." and a political analyst in the granite state says tomorrow night's debate should have limited impact. smith says: "i don't think the debate is going to be critical for new hampshire. first off it's the saturday before christmas - on a saturday night nobody's going to be watching this. people are going to be learning about it by reading the paper the next day rather than seeing the debate." emanuel on cam: the campaigns of sanders and former maryland governor martin o'malley have complained about the number and timing of debates - suggesting the party is protecting or hiding clinton. that might explain

frustration expressed by the sanders camp today. in manchester, new hampshire, mike emanuel, fox news the democratic debate airs on a- b-c tomorrow. it starts at five p-m pacific time. lawmakers in washington - join together to pass a landmark spending package - just in time for winter break.. "as we end the year, i think by any objective standard it's been a year of significant accompliment. and i want to thank the democrats who did cooperate." the one-point- fourteen trillion dollar spending bill will fund the government through next september. the senate joined the house in passing the measure that also includes about 700-billion in tax breaks - but avoids a government shutdown or default. "i'm not wild about everything in it. i'm sure that's true for everybody. but it is a budget--as i insisted--that invests in our military, our middle class."

the president left washington to meet with families of the san bernardino shootng victims - before heading to hawaii for a winter vacation with the first family. security is tightening up - at theme parks across the country. "they went through my husband's backpack, every possible part of it." after the san bernardino terror attacks... disney is taking new measures - including expanded security checks - to keep its guests safe at all its parks. now - sea world and universal studios are following the example... banning toy guns - including sales at gift shops. even costumes are being banned for anyone over the age of fourteen. "disney will get this right, they'll get the security right, they'll get the lines down, and good security done well, is very good business." so far this year - disney world in orlando is the most popular theme park in the world.... attracting an average of nearly 53-thousand guests per day. the federal government

tanning beds. an f-d-a proposal would restrict the use of sunlamp products at indoor tanning facilities to people over 18 years old. the agency is also proposing stricter safety regulations for adults - including a requirement that users sign a risk acknowledgment form... and said indoor tanning is a known contributor to skin cancer, including the most deadly form of melanoma. "the reality is, the fda really has almost no restrictions currently on tanning beds. states have some restrictions but there are no federal restrictions and the real problem is, we as dermatologists are seeing the effects of these beds" the indoor tanning association has previously accused the f-d-a of exaggerating the risks. one-point-six million children use indoor tanning beds each year. the united states and cuba are close to announcing a deal on travel between the two countries. a u-s official says the two countries have agreed to resume commercial

suspended air travel. the agreement is part of a decision to normalize relations between the u-s and cuba. right now - you're looking at rare drone video of havana. cuba's government is known for secrecy - and usually bans tourists and visiting journalists from bringing unmanned aerial vehicles into the country. foreign movies will be allowed in the country - and when they will be shown to the public. no reason was given for the delay. china has the second greatest number of movie theaters in the world - behind only the united states. a man in england is making money - off star wars helmets - that are as authentic as they come. andrew ainsworth designed and built the helmet back in 19-76 while the original "star wars" movie was being filmed in the u-k. he kept the molds - and later started making helmets from them... selling them for hundreds of dollars. but if you want to buy one in the u-s... you're out of luck. "star wars" creator george lucas sued ainsworth in 2008 for copyright infringement. ainsworth eventually settled with disney - who now owns "star wars" - agreeing not to sell the helmets in the u-s. one couple in minnesota went to see "the force awakens" thursday night - and got married.
