sheriff joe lombardo says she told a valet at a hotel to call 9-1-1 .. saying she thought she had hit people along the strip. at a morning news conference .. clark county district attorney steve wolfson laid out the charges she's now facing .. "we are going to start off filing charges of one count of murder with a deadly weapon, we will also be filing additional charges as the information flows to our office. the other charges we're considering are a multitude of counts of attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon, child abuse and neglect, which pertains to the toddler which was in the back seat of this vehicle, as well as the felony count of leaving the scene of an accident." we have live team coverage from the strip tonight .. and begin with fox five's ophelia young in fron of paris with details of what happened in this deadly

crime scene markings still here show all four tires of the vehicle were on the sidewalk. here in las vegas - 24 year old lakeisha holloway is believed to be the deadly driver. in oregon where she's from - we learned she was a mother trying to turn her life around. in a video fox 5 found of lakeisha holloway speaking about her life - she explains she grew up with an alcoholic mother - she was kicked out of her home - homeless - she managed to finish high school - go to college. that was three years ago. police are still trying to find out how she ended up on the strip sunday night - the las strip was quote a place she did not want to be - lakeisha holloway told police - so much so - witnesses says she gassed her 1996 oldsmobile down the sidewalk

"some jumped on her car and ran up to the window trying to get it to stop but she didn't" holloways three year old daughter was seen in the back of the car. according to statements - holloway hopped on the sidewalk not once - but twice before leaving the scene. with a flat tire holloway ended up about a mile away at the tuscany. "she parked at that location exited her vehicle left her toddler within the vehicle and contacted the valet parker and advised that she had ran over some individuals on las vegas boulevard and requested the valet parker to call 911." in the report - holloway tells police she was trying to rest in her car in the garage of where they believe was planet hollywood - but got kicked out. why she snapped -

"she didnt appear to be distressed due to her actions thats the best way i can describe it" the suspect -a very different lakeisha holloway we're finding in this video - "..." from a program which she was recognized for being a role model. now holloway faces murder with a deadly weapon - and likely more charges as the investigation continues. the child is safe with protective services. meanwhile we did ask police for any video - police say they are reviewing a myriad of cell phone and survellance footage - which they plan to release later. reporting live...

sunrise hospital took in 13 patients. five are still there. four of them are in fair condition.. one in good. many of you may remember a similar incident that happened 10 years ago just a few blocks away. in 2005... three people were killed and a dozen more were injured when a 27-year-old man drove a stolen car into a crowd of people on the strip. stephen ressa told police he thought the people on the sidewalk in front of bally's looked like demons when he drove onto the walkway. in 2007 -- he pleaded guilty to 13 charges and was sentenced from 52 to up to 520 years in prison. during this morning's news conference on the crash .. the sheriff also talked about security for new year's eve on the strip. "obviously its america's party happening in two weeks. we're doing everything we can to ensure

over the weekend .. local teachers agreed to a new contract with the clark county school district. the "clark county education association" announced they voted to support a new agreement on saturday. the two-year contract has salary pay increases and adjustments. it also has an increase to c-c-s-d health insurance.

been protesting the past six months -- demanding a fair salary. the next step is for the c-c-s-d board of trustees is to vote to ratify the contract in the new year. construction students take their skills outside the classroom to give a food bank more pantry space. more than twenty students at east career technical academy built cabinets for three square. the group delivered and installed the fifteen of them -- complete with adjustable shelves and crown molding. it will help the food bank store more donations. the school's construction teacher says it's a great way for students to learn about using their talents to help others in need. closed captioning will resume shortly the security of our nation's infrastructure a long-time concern for the administration.. and now two reports reveal a history of foreign cyber attacks on the u-s. the main one from iranian hackers. the report in the wall street journal reveals they broke into the control system of a small dam less than twenty miles north of new york city. the bowman avenue dam is used for flood control.

a 32-year-old lifetime ban on blood donations from gay and bi- sexual men. but major restrictions will limit who can donate. the the food and drug administration says it will replace the blanket ban with a new policy barring donations from men who have had sex with a man in the previous year. while the one- year-ban has been criticized by activists it matches policies in other countries, including australia, japan and the u-k. gay rights activists said the new policy is a "step in the right direction," but falls short. the landscape shifts in the republican race with one low- polling candidate dropping out and others hanging in hoping to surge. fox news senior political correspondent mike emanuel has more from washington. graham says "today i'm suspending my campaign for president." south carolina senator lindsey graham throws in the towel.
