underage... police say the teens will have an adult guardian with them during all questioning in the investigation. police are also investigating another deadly shooting... another homeowner turned the gun on a suspect. metro says sometime before 5 this morning, a couple inside a their condo on sahara and fort apache heard someone screaming and trying to break down the front door. a man in the apartment grabbed a gun and shouted warnings. police say the man in the apartment then called 9-1-1.. but before police arrived the man inside shot out through the door. he told police the person kept trying to get in so he shot again.. killing the man on the other side. at this time there's no word on who the victim is .. or why he was there. the woman accused of mowing down dozens of people with her car on the strip - faced a judge for the first time since the crash. lakeisha holloway stood in shackles - and didn't enter a plea during her brief court appearance this morning. she barely spoke and nodded to

she understood she'll remain in jail through the holidays - while both sides investigate the crash. it happened sunday night - in front of the paris and planet hollywood resorts. about 35 people were hit - and one person was killed. a defense lawyer discussed his client's mental state this morning. "well, she's distraught. i mean this is tragic for everybody involved. and as the days go by and the gravity of what happened sinks in, i expect that she's going to be a very difficult mental state." holloway's daughter was in the backseat of the car - but was not injured - and is now in county custody. holoway faces murder - child abuse - and felony hit and run charges. but - additional charges could be forthcoming. "probably attempt murder with use of a deadly weapon. we have a number of people who were injured. we do believe that this defendant acted intentionally in her behavior. if you

and run somebody over, that certainly qualifies as an attempt murder charge and that's what we are strongly considering." the judge set a date of january 20-th... for a preliminary hearing of the evidence. a metro officer was involved in a crash this morning.. as you can see in this report-it video sent in by a viewer.. an s-u-v ended up on its roof. this is on buffalo near smoke ranch. according to police, the driver of the suv turned in front of the officer. both the officer and the driver of the suv were taken to a hospital with non-life threateneing injuries. at this time police say the driver was not impared. a solar energy panel company says it's pulling out of nevada - following a decision from the state public utilities commission to move forward with a new rate structure they are joining cutomers - who say it's now too expensive - to have solar energy. fox5's abby theodros joins us live from the newsroom - with more on the loss of jobs and business.

it a "very difficult decision" but the only choice they have left. they say the state's decision to increase rates for solar customers is a flawed one that will impact customers and employees alike. john doe: we're two days before christmas and you know all these families are being impacted john - who asked to remain anonymous - says his holiday stockings are up and presents are wrapped- but a recent decision from the nevada public utilities commission has left him with serious concerns this christmas. it's an indescribable feeling when you find out you may no longer be employed due to the decision of other people john is a supervisor at nevada solar company and says his job is now in jeopardy after the comission approved a plan that would increase flat service fees for solar customers while paying them 80 percent less for their unused energy. nats car solar companies like "solar city" responded on wednesday by

in nevada. more than 2 thousands local workers now unsure if they'll have a job in the upcoming year. solar city says there are about 12 thousand existing solar customers in nevada - all of whom will be impacted by the decision. keely carlin of las vegas- just installed her panels this month - and says it's a shame she likely wont save any money. keely carlin: 18:07 im not pleased that i was trying to cut those costs and now they're either not going to be reduced or more depending how this plays out but for those like john who worry about their job ... he says this to the commision. john: i really wish that they would have considered thinking this through a little more and thought - about all of the lives and families this impacted nv energy would not comment on the commission's recent decision but they did say theyre currently reviewing the order to determine the impact it'll have on their customers. live in the news room abby

rollin in late this afternoon nate's in for ted tonight with a look at the holiday forecast now fox5 weather 24/7 it looks like despite some clouds rolling in through the night tonight and during the day christmas eve, it'll still be an above normal day. but things really start to change late in the day thursday. that's when the wind will start to pick up and the chances for a quick shot at rain , and maybe even a few snow flurries, depending on your elevation. the city itself isn't like to see much, if any, rain or snow - and eight of them pedestrians... this year alone. now - the nevada department of transportation says they're making changes on the dangerous

lundeberg is live on boulder highway - with more on the improvements we can expect to see over the next few years. ndot is investing a ----- into the project... it's going to be a six month project which will run through 2016 2017. some of the changes you'll be seeing is there will no longer be hard left hand turns... there installing a rapid flashing beacon and they're lowering the speed limit from 55 to 45 miles an hour. they're also looking at more sidewalks median enhancements and crosswalks.

n-dot says the money for the project is coming from the nevada state transportation board. each year - they give money to roadway safety projects and programs. gun owners - want to put their "second amendment" pride - on a nevada license plate what has to happen first - before that becomes a reality. plus - the surprise squad stikes again. who was caught off guard this time around - in time for the

lieutenant governor mark hutchison's law firm filed suit against nevada - to try and protect education savings acounts. the accounts are part of a recently passed law - that gives families choice in schools - based on needs and circumstances. however - the program is facing legal challenges - from groups who claim the program takes money away from the public school system. hutchison says he is representing families - who deserve to know if the money will be there or not. "they relied on the funding of the education savings accounts and so we're asking the court to expedite a decision and to give these parents the assurances and guanrantees that those savings accounts will be fully funded by february. " hutchison - whose law firm is "hutchison and steffen" - says he's hoping for a court decision on the matter by february. the push continues for a new license plate in nevada - to celebrate the second amendment.

firearms coalition says it has raised more than 15- hundred dollars for the effort - since the launch last week of what it calls the "drive the second amendment forward" license plate contest. the nevada firearms coalition asks that voters donate whatever they can when picking their favorite design - so that the creation of the license plate can come to fruition. each dollar donated on its webpage - counts as one vote. "it all depends if other plates, slots become vacant.they only allow so many plates at one time and they'll reevaluate and often drop plates that aren't popular and we want to be prepared so our plate is ready to go when that happens." the group says it needs to raise five thousand dollars - to make a "2-nd amendment" plate available. now fox5 weather 24/7 (( weather )) it looks like despite some clouds rolling in through the
