this is fox5 news at 10. local. las vegas. this is fox5 news at 10. local. las vegas. three teens involved in an attempted robbery on the west side of the valley... what they didnt know is that the homeowner had a gun... i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. police say the home owner shot two of them in self defense, the third teen is now in police custody fox 5's miguel martinez-valle is live in the yard where one of the teens was found wounded... one 17 year old died during that attempted robbery, the second was found hurt here in this yard... he jumped over the wall of the house where he was shot ...and according to this homeowner he then tried to leave her yard but was kept in by the locked gates... you can see the trail of blood he left behind in his struggle... police eventually found

transported him to umc. caritina vasquez de morales found a teenage boy hurt in her yard, so she called the police ... " the man was coming from the wall back there he was going to the front, we saw him bleeding... a lot of blood." de morales says the 17-year-old had jumped from her neighbors house into her yard, he had been shot and left a trial of blood behind... police say he was a part of an attempted robbery that happened around 11 a.m. in her neighbors house teens were shot by the home owner, police are acting in self " im not gonna rule out criminal charges, but obivously i have to say that if youre in your home and somebody breaks right to defend your home and your property and your family..." one of the teens died in the home, the other is at umc with critical injuries. the third, a 13 year old, is in a man who claimed of one of the kids says he's told his son to stay out of trouble before... " in the past six month i do believe there's been a rise in crime, theres been a lot of robberies." but metro isnt ready to connect the teens to those other robberies... " we are being told that they could be related to other break ins but i dont want to label them that they were doing this on a regular having those facts." because the suspects of the underage metro says their guardians will be allowed with them during the

police are investigating another deadly shooting that happened early this morning at a condo near sahara and fort apache. police say just before five a-m a couple heard someone banging on their front door and screaming. the man grabbed a gun--- shouted a warning... and called police. when they arrived... the man says he shot through his door... at the man outside because he kept trying to get inside. caught on camera. police are looking for a group of people who broke into a valley home earlier this week.... take a look.... police say two women and a man... rang the doorbell at the home near alta and desert foothills drive. when no one answered-- they went into the backyard.... and broke into the house. police say they also tried to get into another home in the area. if you recognize these suspects-- you are asked to contact crimestoppers at 702-385-55-55. the woman police say intentionally crashed into a crowd of people on the las vegas strip was in court this morning. clark county

steve wolfson-- says the vido of lakeisha holloway is very clear. " i have viewed many of the videos. the video evidence is quite compelling. i'm very happy the quality of this video is superb, so the video evidence at some point in time will be presented to a court. " holloway stood quietly, shackled. one woman was killed and nearly three dozen more injured in sunday night's crash. holoway faces murder - child abuse - and felony hit and run the d-a said additional charges are likely pending the test. the d-a asked for those results to be expedited. " they will charge her with what they believe is nevada law, but just because she's charged doesn't mean she's guilty. there's all kinds of possibilities and we have to make a determination on what happened here. one woman who works as a character on the strip says she was nearly hit.... "there was people jumping up in the air trying to hit the lady's windshield trying to stop her. i get scared when i'm working out here. especially on these low curbs and low sidewalks." helena lanzetta works as hello kitty.... she says the situation was frantic.... and she watched dozens of people get hit... she says the city needs to put up barricades-- in order to keep people on the strip safe. a metro officer was injured in an early morning crash. it happened on buffalo near smoke ranch. according to police, the driver of the suv turned in front of the officer. both the officer and the driver of the suv were taken to a hospital with non-life threateneing injuries. boulder highway is one of las vegas' most deadly stretches of road... this year alone 14 people died... eight of them were pedestrians. today the nevada department of transportation announced their plans to make this area safer for both drivers and

fox5's cyndi lundeberg tells us more about the coming changes. 19 year old kannette brock walks boulder highway everyday and says often times she's fearful for her life kennette brock- 00:07:26:27 what just happenned on the strip could happen here and people are even going faster here theres not a close space from light to light so they can really just go as fast as they want brock isn't alone this year alone 8 pedestrians have died along the busy stretch of roadyway... wednesday the nevada departemtn of transportation released plans to do smoething about it. first they'll be lowering the speed limit from 55 miles an hour to 45 near galleria drive... they'll also be adding flashing lights to cross walks to let drivers know where pedestrans will be crossing... tony illia dept of transportation - 01:00:17:10 weve had boulder highway on our sights for a number of years now for pedestrian upgrades beginning in 2016 we will begin implementing those the project will take about six months to complete and will begin early 2016.

employees from texas station were serving up a christmas feast to those who have served our country. employees from the casino.... visited veterans village to say thank you.... 175 veterans were able to enjoy the tradition holiday dinner with all of the trimmings... the volunteers say.... this is just one way they can give back. "it's an honor for us. it's very humbling. we appreciate so much the sacrifice veterans and their families have made for us and our freedom. christmas and you know all these families are being impacted john - who asked to remain anonymous - says his holiday stockings are up and presents are wrapped- but a recent decision from the nevada public utilities commission has left him with serious concerns this christmas. it's an indescribable feeling when you find out you may no longer be employed due to the decision of other people john is a supervisor at nevada solar his job is now in comission approved increase flat service fees for solar customers their unused energy. solar companies like "solar city" responded on wednesday by ceasing solar sales in nevada. more than 2 thousands local workers now unsure if they'll have a job in the upcoming year. solar city says there are about 12 thousand existing solar customers in nevada - all of whom will be impacted by the

for a new plate supporting second ammendment rights... called drive the ammendment forward... gave the group a specialty license plate... but in order to meet the criteria for the plate-- they have to come up with a design and raise a five thousand dollar bond. and in just one week-- the coalition has half of the money members of the coalition say... the all for a good cause. "the one thing i'd like to point out to everybody is the money from these plates is going to fund firearm safety and education. we hear so much about firearms issues and this money is going to go to to training to help people be safe with the firearms. chanted... as dozens of state patrol and bloomington police officers stood outside several entrances, blocking anyone from getting in. police said no one was hurt and no property was damaged. their goal is to draw attention to the police shooting death of jamar clark in minneapolis last month. the mall closed eighty stores early, despite it being one of the busiest shopping days of the year. "it was nerve- wracking and i told her we're gonna get here early and get it over with and get out." " protestors also tried to shut down the minneapolis-saint paul international airport today. a minnesota judge is considering filing a restraining order against black lives matter organizers a new trial date has been set for the freddie grey trial against officer william porter. earlier this month-- the judge declared a mistrial. analysts say porter's testimony may become more important during a retrial. " brown says: "even if you put porter up there you've already in his own trial said he

credibility is suspect."" porter was charged in the death of gray back in april... along with six other officers. gray suffered a fatal spinal injury while riding in a police van after his arrest. porter's trial is now set for june 13th. a new ruled has has been issued for airport security screening. t-s-a screeners can now force anyone to go through body scanners, even if they want to opt out. before the change, passengers could choose a full body pat down instead of the body scanner. a t-s-a spokesperson says the scanner does not store personal information and improves threat detection for metallic and non-metallic objects that a pat-down might miss. the change comes amid heightened secutyri concerns about terror plots on commercial airlines. serious terrorism charges tonight for a teenager who -- the government says... has been a serious recruiter -- for isis. fox's rick leventhal has details on how the teen was using social media to spread his message .

aziz was not your typical 19-year- old, living with his parents in harrisburg, pennsylvania... he did spend a lot of time on twitter... but his posts were sinister... in support of isis. during a search of his home, federal agents say they found a tactical style backpack in the teen's closet... a "go-bag" containing five loaded m-4 style high capacity magazines, a knife, survival gear and a ski mask... suggesting aziz was preparing for an attack. brown says: "law enforcement and the joint task force isn't going to wait 'til it gets to a point where our action will be too late. so we're going to intervene at a point where concerns are raised to a point where we think there is a threat against the public." according to the federal indictment... aziz spent nearly two years using at least 57 different twitter accounts to recruit others to join isis... arranging travel to syria to fight for the islamic state... and spreading hateful rhetoric, including posting the names and addresses of 100 active duty u.s. military personnel. in january (2015), the feds say aziz used one of his accounts to tweet "kill all kufar", meaning infidels or non- believers... three weeks later, the feds say aziz tweeted
