appearance. the strong prosecutors say they have against her... and why the not to jump to conclusions. and after a high accidents on boulder highway... officials announce the changes aimed to make the road a drivers and pedestrians. this is fox5 news at 11. local las vegas. one teen dead, one in the third behind bars after trying to break into a home... i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. police say the homeowner is the one who shot them. fox 5's miguel martinez-valle is live in the yard where one of the teens was found. the owner of this home says one of the 17 year olds jumped over the wall of the house where he was shot to her yard... this is where she found her before calling the police... ... you can see the trail of blood he left behind in his struggle... police

transported him to umc. caritina vasquez de morales found a teenage boy hurt in her yard, so she called the police ... " the man was coming from the wall back there he was going to the front, we saw him bleeding... a lot of blood." de morales says the 17-year-old had jumped from her neighbors house into her yard, he had been shot and left a trial of blood behind... police say he was a part of an attempted robbery that happened around 11 a.m. in her neighbors house two 17 year-old teens were shot by the home owner, police are saying he was acting in self defense... " im not gonna rule out criminal charges, but obivously i have to say that if youre in your home and somebody breaks in you have the right to defend your home and your property and your family..." one of the teens died in the home, the other is at umc with critical injuries. the third, a 13 year old, is in custody... a man who claimed to be the father of one of the kids says he's told his son to stay out of trouble before...

" in the past six month i do believe there's been a rise in crime, theres been a lot of robberies." but metro isnt ready to connect the teens to those other robberies... " we are being told that they could be related to other break ins but i dont want to label them that they were doing this on a regular basis without having those facts." police again are saying the homeowner acted in self defense, and many neighbors have shared they would have done the same thing to keep their families safe... but some youth out reach groups still view

he kept trying to get inside. a victim was killed in another shooting earlier this evening. this happened around six, near charleston and pecos. metro says one person was shot, and later died at the hospital. police haven't said why the shooting happened, but they do say the suspect is still on the run. we will continue to follow this story and bring you more updates as we receive them. the woman police say ran down dozens of people with her car on the strip sunday night, made her first court appearance. clark county district attorney steve wolfson says there's a lot of evidence to go through in this case... including many high-quality surveillance videos. " it shows her traveling in traffic with many other cars. and for whatever reason, making a right turn onto a sidewalk where there were many people walking, and running over people. it's quite compelling, i think it speaks volumes for what she did." lakeisha holloway did not

metro says one woman was killed and at least 35 people were hurt. holloway's lawyer says she is distraught and on suicide watch. her blood tests are being expedited in this case... to see if there was anything in her system before the crash. " there are a number of things we have to consider other than an intentional act. so although it's tragic for everyone involved, this case is going to take some time. " holloway's three-year-old daughter, who was in the backseat during the crash, is still with child haven. the next court date is january 20th for a preliminary hearing. more people are visiting the growing memorial for those killed and injured in the strip crash. some of those paying respects are people who witnessed it... and were nearly hurt themselves. the woman came up on the sidewalk, just missed me, i was walking this way taking a break. "helena lanzetta" works at the hello kitty store as a character. she watched as dozens of people were hit, and her coworkers tried to stop the driver. lanzetta says as someone who works on the sidewalks, she wants to see barriers to protect pedestrians. a man already accused in a home invasion where a dog was shot... was arrested in a homicide. metro says 23- year-old de angelo mathews got in a fight with a man in the valet area of the paris hotel and casino back in may. police say he punched the victim in the head, and the man later died in the hospital. now, seven months later, they are connecting mathews to the crime. mathews is already jailed at c-c-d-c, in a home invasion case from august. you may remember this video... where three men shot a dog and beat up the owner. metro says mathews bound the owner with duct tape before robbing him. the dog recovered. metro police are looking for three suspects they say broke into a home near alta and desert foothills

department of transporation says they are also looking at widening sidewalks.. and adding more crosswalks and say they hope those changes will begin in 2017. a metro officer was hurt in a crash today... but he's expected to a fox5 viewer sent us this video on report-it. you can see the its roof on buffalo and smoke ranch. metro says the suv driver turned in front of the officer around one this morning. both were taken with non-life threatening injuries. police say neither drivers were impaired. "solar city" says it's making the difficult decision to leave nevada... after the state decided to increase rates for solar customers. the company says it agrees with customers, that solar will be too expensive in nevada. the public utilities commission approved a plan that would increase flat service fees for solar customers, while paying them 80 percent less for their unused energy. solar city says

education savings accounts. under a new nevada law, parents can use some of the money their children would receive from public school funding... to pay for private schools. the program is facing lawsuits from groups like the a-c-l-u, who claim it's unconstitutional for the money to go to religious schools. hutchison says parents put their kids in private schools, expecting to be partially reimbursed. but lawsuits are holding everything up. " it's very important that nevada parents and nevada who have students in the school system, know whether or not they'll have as a tool for their students, these education savings accounts. " hutchison says his firm "hutchison and steffen" hopes to have a court decision made by february. people may soon be able to show their support for gun ownership rights on their license plates... and help raise money for firearm safety classes. " more than half the people in clark county own firearms. and to be able to reach out and teach them how to store firearms safely and handle them safely will go

" the nevada firearms coalition is trying to get support for a new second amendment license plate. they received a specialty license plate from the legislature... but they have to raise a five thousand dollar bond to make it happen. the group also has to come up with a design, and it's having people vote on what they like. so far, the coalition has raised about half of the bond. if your headed home for the holidays, mccarran international airport recommends you give yourself the gift of time this season. "this is not the time of year you want to miss your flight. it's a busy season, a lot of our flights are booked. if you miss your flight, you may have to wait awhile to be rescheduled." it's a good idea to be at the airport at least an hour early... two if you're parking at mccarran. you'll want to keep any gifts unwrapped, in case your bag gets searched. and officials recommend knowing about the weather conditions from las vegas to your destination, because a storm in a different city can cause delays at any time.

a teenager is facing serious terrorism charges... for being a recruiter for isis. officials say he spent nearly two years using 57 different twitter accounts, to recruit new isis supporters. "brown says: "...time and time again when inappropriate things were posted twitter was taking his accounts down and time and time again he would you know revamp his name and put them up again." " federal agents found a bag loaded with weapons and survival gear in 19-year-old "jalil aziz"'s home. they say this suggests azil was preparing for an attack, investigators say azil arranged travel to syria to fight for the islamic state. he's also accused of posting the names and addresses of 100 active duty u-s military personnel. if convicted on terrorism charges, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. presidential candidate ted cruz is defending
