" city sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style... in the air theres a feeling of christmas."
10:01 pm
fremont street isnt the typical holiday celebration... especially for those trying to earn a buck. " so they come, i type the information in... whats your talent? youre a dancer? a singer? an acrobat? gymnastics? musician? whatever. i put them in i get them out on the street get them ready to do what they want to do..." more than 3,000 visitors were in las vegas last december, so for some fremont street performers, working through christmas means more money in their pockets. " yea its pretty busy on christmas day... its either that or go sit at home... i'd rather be out here..." street experience is open 24 hours, even on christmas eve, and some of say they often work long nights to make enough home... " you know take until 3, 4, o clock in the morning... sometimes i just i starve a little, its hard to say but its true... sometimes i go to sleep hungry." but they say the holiday spirit this time of year makes working a little more festive... " its fun, its busy, its chaotic, its all of the above, its the holiday."
10:02 pm
shops on the street are open until midnight, and while booth workers told us most of the last minute shoppers came earlier in the week, theyre still expecting to sell some gifts tonight. " its pretty cool, i like the energy out here... fremont street is a pretty great location, especially for the stuff we sell and the customers we have." in a 24-hour city like las vegas, many people have no choice but to work through the holidays... but for those who's job is entertaining others, fremont street gives them a place to spread their christmas cheer... " soon it will be christmas day" freemont will be open the rest of the night, many of the performers and workers we talked to today said they would be back here to work tomorrow as well... live, miguel martinez-valle, fox5 news. local. las vegas. the fremont street experience
