it accidental. fox five's abby theodros is live from the neighborhood near ann and simmons with what happened. police say the family member lived with the officer couple but apparently she was supposed to be out for the evening. so when they heard shuffling - they went down stairs and fired several rounds. this home was the scene of an investgation after police say an off duty metro officer fired a gun, and injured her relative. . sarah dozier, neighbor: we were just worried we didn't know who it was we didnt know if it was like somone tried to break in. unnamed officer the officer and her husband were both sleeping, when the who lives at the entered. the husband and wife both fired several rounds - striking twice. nats (talking) a neighbor who didn't want to go on camera says the neighborhood isn't that safe anymore - and the off duty cop was likely being cautious because there have been robberies i understand why the would need to feel like they have to keep their guns around with them because this area

meanwhile - bob irwin - the owner of "the gunstore" and academy instructor says the case seems very unusual and simply doesn't add up. looking at the recent case it appears that a police officer of all people should know to give some type of warning for firing at someone in their househopefully there are some other factors in the case we're not awar north las vegas if the couple gave a woman. however they say the interviews shooting - were enough to rule the "accidental." north las vegas police wanted to emphasize that they are not labling this case an officer involved shooting g and that it was in fact accidental. police say the relative who was hurt had non-life

we're learning more about the climber who died after falling at least a hundred feet at red rock. it happened around noon saturday near oak creek canyon. police say the climber was with two others... but their rope system failed as they were coming back down the canyon. he survived the before metro's search and rescue crew could get to him. police say high and the remote location effected their response time. crews had to set up ropes to recover the body. "my team when we were doing rescue of other 2 it wind prevented us from using helicopter immediately until it calmed down alittle bit. cold weather was hard on team as they tried to recover the subject." the coroner says the climber is 25- year-old brian tracy from washington state. police say he was not wearing a helmet. red rock search and rescue says some climbs look easy... but are more technical coming down. "a lot times its easier to get up than down and depending on climbing down you

"accidents are rare in recreational area. so we dont want this to scare anyone away. its beautiful area and we dont want to encourage anyone away." red rock search and rescue encourage everyone to always have extra food... water... cell phone... and g-p-s in case you get stranded. a driver and passenger were killed after their car slammed into two street lights. the crash happened 11-30 saturday night near charleston and mohawk street. police say the man behind the wheel was speeding when he drove up on the sidewalk... lost control... then hit the street poles. the driver and passenger died at the scene. police have not said if alcohol or drugs were a factor. a motorcyclist was killed in a crash.. near searchlight this afternoon.. that's about an hour south of las vegas. n-h-p says a group of three motorcyclists were on the 95 when one of them

"...when he opened fire, it was still very difficult to even understand...to comprehend what was happening. it was something that one does not expect to happen, and your mind very quickly goes into a lot of scenarios. but it was very horrific." vicki gardner was shot in the back while being interviewed by roanoke station w-d-b-j. a former employee of the station shot and killed reporter alison parker and photographer adam ward during the on-air interview. one of the bullets grazed gardner's spine. she spent weeks in the hospital to repair internal injuries. she plans to return to work next month. presidential hopefuls are back on the campaign trail -- after taking the holiday week off. fox's bryan llenas shows us how they're preparing

10. local. las vegas. a woman is being treated at a hospital after being shot by a family member who's also metro police officer. fox five's abby theodros joins us live from the north las vegas neighborhood where it all happened. north las vegas police were on the case and they say the evidence leads to an accidental shooting. we now know the injured woman lived with the off duty officer and her husband and has access to the home. but apparently the couple wasnt expecting her that night. they were sleeping and heard a noise which prompted them to go down stairs and fire their guns. police say the woman was shot at least twice. some neighbors in the area say it was likely an accident while others belive the story doesnt add up. many tourists trying to stay bundled up while enjoying the sights of the strip. some say they were surprised with how cold it was... but have found ways to stay warm during their vacation. "the casinos are pumping so much air: we've just been going from casino to casino." career and technical academy" are showing off their gingerbread villiage. they started the project way back in mid-october. in small groups - they each created houses for the village. as a class they used a hundred pounds of gingerbread... 80 pounds of different candies... and more than 250 pounds of powdered sugar. the cookie buildings are so detailed -- some even have gingerbread men and little candy snowmen outside
