a fight continues in a reno courtroom, over whether a 20- year-old woman is legally dead. a judge granted a reno hospital permission to conduct brain wave tests on "aden hailu". the unr student had abdominal surgery back in april, but never woke up. hospital officials believe these brain tests will prove she should be removed from life support. her father

there's a chance hailu is alive, the hospital should continue to treat her. a ruling in the case is expected january 22nd. the nevada gaming control board has gambling regulators paying close attention, to developments from the las vegas review journal sale. the paper was recently purchased by sheldon adelson's family... and executives originally refused to identify the new owners. officials with the gaming control board say they regularly monitor gambling companies, to make sure they don't do anything that discredits the state. the agency also says there's nothing prohibiting a casino owner from buying a newspaper. people are getting a head start on their 2016 fitness goals, by signing up for gym memberships. over at orange theory fitness, staff members are confident their new members will stick to the new routines past january. killer whales at its san diego park. the theme park filed the suit in san diego superior court today. it says the california coastal commission was outside its authority when it made the ruling on breeding in october. the commission endorsed a 100 million dollar expansion of seaworld's orca tanks... but this came with a ban on breeding and selling the whales. seaworld says its whales aren't a part of coastal or marine environments, so they can't be part of the commission's jurisdiction. the company also says plans to expand the tanks are on hold, and it may divert some of that 100 million dollars to another attraction those tiny microbeads you see in face soaps and body scrubs, will be a thing of the past here in america. president obama signed the "micro-bead-free waters act"... which phases the use of the tiny beads in consumer products. the beads are great for exfoilation... but they act as sponges for toxic chemical pollutants, and become a snack for fish. and people who
