and soldiers are patroling mccarran as we holiday.. many extra troops are coming to town. plus ... new details about the driver accused of driving through crowds along the strip.. what drug test results show was in her system. breaking news tonight along highway 60 on the way to pahrump. i'm christine maddela. i'm elizabeth watts .. john has the night off. the nevada highway patrol confirms someone found a person's body along highway 60 near mile marker 22... this is near the top of the highway over the pass.. near mountain springs. right now metro police is investigating ... we're told it doesn't appear to be a traffic related death .. but it's too early to say for sure. we'll keep you updated on this breaking news thhroughout the night on fox5vegas dot com .. and later on forx5 news at 10 and 11. the countdown is on! there's now less than 30 hours to go until 2016 and the beginning of the biggest - and best - firework show in the nation.

planning will pay off tomorrow night from the rooftops of seven casinos on the strip. that's where we find fox 5's ophelia young, getting a behind the scenes look at the final preparations. a whole year of planning in 8 minutes and 18 seconds... over 50 pyrotechnicians on 7 roofs all day today and tomorrow. tomorrow night is the moment they've waited all year for. "this is part of the finale its what we call titanium salutes.' the finale - in his hands now - up 2 hundred and 80 feet on midnight new years eve. the day before - henry herman carefully places every one of these firework shells filled with black powder in their rightful tubes and wires them to a panel. "the wires might get tangled in another wire might pull it out of the panel little things like that."

count down theyre hoping to hear the whole strip countdown lauching the fireworks in unity... reporting live ophelia young fox 5 news local las vegas the people in charge of setting off the fireworks also said drones flying near the show can be dangerous.. they are also illegal. metro says if they see anyone flying a drone within five miles of the airport will be warned first .. and then can have their drones confiscated. for metro and other law enforcement .. keeping partiers safe tomorrow night is job number one! and to help with this effort .. nevada army guard soldiers will be on hand at mccarran. around 40 soldiers will help make sure mccarran is safe should anything happen.

help... cpt. sabastian balint / 72nd military police company, nv national guard "if they see anything out of the ordinary, talk to national guard, talk to metro, the best way anyone can help is to say something is they see something suspicious." earlier this month, governor brian sandoval also approved the request form clark county to have one hundred additional national guard troops on hand to help. metro police also have a few dozen more guard members supporting their efforts over the next couple days throughout the valley. major roads along the strip will start closing down around 4 tomorrow afternoon. at 5, freeway on- and-off ramps will be shut down and will start re- opening around 3:30 a-m new year's day. remember there is a 6 p-m curfew for anyone under the age of 18. if you are going to the strip tomorrow night... you might be happy to hear the monorail will be running all night. for the first time .. the monorail will continue service through the night and through new year's day. ingrid reisman / vp, las vegas monorail company

holloway had a large amount of metabolites in her system which is a primary y dicator of drug use. holloway's metabolite level was at about 24 nanograms per milileter - which is a number high enough to indicate that she used the drug within hours of the crash. carrison: somewhere between 3 and 6 you can say that you're under the influence of marijuana when you're tested for that. doctor dale carrison with university medical center is talking about whether or not the amount of drugs found in lakeisha holloway's blood could mean she was under the infulence. dr. dale carrison, umc: it may mean something they may not mean anything. it's very difficult and there is no real medical consensus on when you're under the influence or not. in a statement from clark county district attorney steve wolfson .. he writes the amount found in her bloos does not change the charges he's filing against her. carrison went on to say there is no concrete scale to determine the level of use or if drugs played a role in this deadly crash - but there is one thing the toxicology report shows... carrison: we know that sometime within the last 12- 24 hours she did in fact smoke marijuana she had a large amount of

metabolites are only there if you have acute use. her metabolite level - or the level at which the drug is processed by your body - was about 24 nanograms per milileter. i spoke with a local toxicology expert ... and this shows she used the drug within hours before the crash. regardless - officials have called holloway's actions intentional and say the results of the toxicology test will not change the initial charges filed. holloway is charged with murder with use of a deadly weapon, child abuse, neglect or endagnerment and leaving the scene of an accident. defense attorney joseph abood says the levels are low and don't prove holloway was impaired in any way. her next court date is scheduled for january of next year. the fbi is now offering a 5- thousand dollar reward for anyone providing information leading to an arrest and conviction of a possible local hate crime. bacon was found on the door handles of a las

degree murder charge. metro says he approached two people last night - at an apartment complex near swenson and twain. following an argument - he returned hours later .. approached them again - and stabbed one of them - just before one in the morning. a security guard caught him and held him until police showed up and arrested him. bill cosby has been charged with sexual assault. the actor and comedian had been accused by dozens of women of rape and assault, but this is the first time charges have been filed. cosby appeared in court earlier this afternoon. steve nannes has the details about what happens next. (kevin r. steele, first assistant district attorney) "we are here to announce today charges that have just been filed against william henry cosby." after years of allegations and accusations from dozens of women... bill cosby has officially been charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault, a second degree felony. cosby appeared in a pennsylvania courtroom on wednesday. he did not enter a plea.

one million dollars, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for january 14th. pennsylvania district attorney kevin steele says cosby established a relationship with andrea constand, a staffer for the temple university women's basketball team. constand says she came to see cosby as a mentor and a friend... until the night in question. (kevin r. steele, first assistant district attorney): "mr. cosby urged her to take pills that he provided to her and to drink wine. the effect of which rendered her unable to move, respond to his advances, and he committed aggravated indecent assault upon her." today's charge stems from information obtained in depositions from a 2005 civil suit filed by constand. that suit was settled confidentially....but the deposition was unsealed in july. (eric guster, criminal & civil trial attorney) "that gave prosecutors enough evidence to go forward. they read cosby's deposition, they read where cosby said he penetrated her." in that deposition, cosby admitted

nevada casinos have slot machines to be thankful for when it comes to earnings in november. revenue rose almost 8-percent from november of last year.. bringing in more than 944-million dollars. downtown las vegas was the big local winner ... up 25-percent from last year. the strip was also up .. about 5 and a half percent. a gaming control board analyst says the timing of month also helped.. it started on a sunday and ended on a monday.. meaning revenue from a bit of october was counted and none of it rolled into december. christmas came late for a local family.. but given what happened to them a few days ago ... this was a blessing. this family of three lost everything in a fire three days before christmas. their neighbors duplex had a fire that spread into
