a couple doctors on the do's and don't for tonight. he joins us live from the welcome to las vegas sign... so les - what's the best advice? don't drink but that's not an option that many consider when visiting las vegas but especially on new years eve. according to yelp las vegas ranks third in the country for hard partying on new years eve. ahhh there is nothing quite like a party in las vegas but especially new years eve....but unless you are prepared there is a price to pay. first bit of advice from dr daliah wachs.....pace yourself don't start drinking at 6:05pm and be wasted by 8. one way to do that according to dr. d is drink water between the alcoholic drinks. she says it's also very important to not drink on an empty stomach if you are on an empty stomach, everybody's like uhh i'll get a buzz quicker because it will absorb faster

news.... as a suspect is shot by an officer this afternoon. it happened on golden cypress avenue ... near desert inn and cimarron. that's where we find fox five's abby theodros - with what led to the gunfire. we now know the deceased individual was a suspect wanted by us marshals. it is unclear at the moment what the suspect was wanted for but metro was responding to a request for assistance. if you look behind me you can see where police encountered the

fired. metro got the call around 2 today and have been on the scene since then. police are in the early stages of their investigation and have not identified the individual. we also do not know how the suspect ended up in this residential neighborhood but police say there is no threat to the public we are anticipating a briefing within the hour to get more information on what exactly happened. an arrest made... after a shooting at a doctors office how police say he ended up behind bars - after his accomplice was shot and killed by an employee and - a man comes across an intruder inside his own home - and

police caught the man they say robbed a local doctor's office and left his accomplice for dead in the parking lot. this is 43-year-old mario chism. a criminal apprehension team found him yesterday and took him into custody without incident. on december 16th, police say chism and 45-year-old veronica clay went into a medical office on charleston. they say chism was armed with a gun and pistol whipped the doctor. an employee inside was able to get out, get a gun from his car and was returning to the office when the two were coming out. clay was shot, fell to the ground and later died. chism took off. police say he was suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot when they found him. take a look at this surveillance video just released by metro police. you can see the car in the middle of the screen. police say they think the two people in the car

man outside a 24 hour fitness on tuesday. police say the victim parked outside the gym on rainbow at around 10 p-m but didn't appear to go in. at about 1 a-m this mid 2000's two door coupe with a rear spoiler was seen driving through. ten minutes later, the victim's car rolled onto a parking median... and the driver's window had been the man inside was shot. he died at the scene. a man is recovering after being stabbed by an intruder he found in his home. early this morning, metro police say the victim arrived home on twinkle star drive near craig and pecos to find the suspect inside. a struggle ensued and the homeowner was stabbed at least three times in the torso area. the intruder then took off and is still on the loose. the man was taken to the hospital in non-life threatening condition. if you have information on any of these crimes... call police or

police are looking into how a body ended up along a highway - after being found by a group of found along highway 160 near mile marker 22... on the way to jeff thomas says he was hiking with his kids, when they came across the body hidden among some rocks. " he did have an old nevada id, cash on him, grocery store savings cards, some cigarettes, a lighter. i turned that all over to police." thomas says there was an eviction notice with the body. the coroner has not yet released the person's name or the cau of death. jeb bush's presidential campaign plans to double the size of its paid staff in nevada. it's part of a strategy to gain traction before the caucuses. a spokesperson says the campaign has nine paid staff members in nevada
