standing by their actions. the man who was shot and killed is 23 year old keith childress... he was visiting his uncle in las vegas... an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to show up for court in arizona... his family says that doesnt mean he deserved to die. "drop the gun drop the gun whats to drop theres no weapon so whats to drop there sno gun in his hands the family of keith childress watches the last moment of the 23 year olds life... the family says they asked they see the entire video but the police department said no... the video released to the public shows just before shots were fired by police... we are actually completely outrage on december 31 metro police sayjust after 2 p-m they were called in to assist in trackng childress.. metro says childress missed his last court date and they believed he was on the run... they were told he was wanted for attempted murder... metro says they were also told he might be armed... it was reported to metro by the us marshals that the

family tells fox5 they still have more questions than answers, even after they watched the video. childress' funeral will be this saturday in san diego california. the man found guilty of a deadly shooting and fiery crash on the las vegas strip in 2013 is officially sentenced. "in this particular circumstance jury sentenced you to death for first degree murders of mister bolden, sandra wusmond, and mr. cherry." ammar harris was formally sentenced to death. back in november -- a jury decided on the death pentalty after deliberating for two hours. three people were killed in the crash. harris joins more than seventy inmates on death row in nevada. police arrested two suspects in connection to a homicide outside a 24-hour fitness last week. 27-year-old kyle stats and 19- year-old megan hippie face first degree murder

robbery with a deadly weapon charges. staats was also charged for possession of a stolen vehicle. an arrest report shows hippie admitted to officers she was with staats looking for cars to break into in the early morning hours last tuesday. police say staats saw a man sleeping in his car outside the gym parking lot. staats got out of the car with a gun and shot the man one time... before they drove away from the scene. detectives were able to track the suspects after receiving a tip. staats and hippies were arrested over the weekend. new video a suspected drunk driver accused of causing three separate crashes near downtown earlier today. a witness captured the video on a cell phone -- and it shows the woman resisting arrest. fox five's rachel moore spoke to witnesses. rachel ll: the suspect parked at this auto max parking lot, and when police arrived, they struggled to arrest her. one of the officers threatening to shoot her dog if she did not get out of the car. officer: get out of the car! suspect: no! no! you're looking at

recorded by a witness. the woman is suspected of driving under the influence and causing three seperate crashes. she pulled into the parking lot of auto max on saint louis and fremont. you can see the officer struggling to pull her out of the car as she resists arrest. he slids of her shoes and tugs on her sweatpants. officer: get out of the car! i'll shoot your dog! suspect: shoot me! police say the woman may have been the cause of multiple hit-and- run crashes monday afternoon. witnesses first reported her white pickup truck striking a pole at an undisclosed location. about 15 minutes later, another report of a white pickup was called in. this time, the truck hit a sedan near pecos road and stewart avenue. then a few minutes after that and about a mile away, several cars were involved in a hit- and-run crash at sahara avenue and lamb boulevard. witnesses say was caused by a white pickup truck. the woman finally parked at the auto max. ariel lopez: i went to approach her thinking it was customer, but i saw that she was passed out. so i tapped on

because of bad weather. the plane then lost power and went down in the desert area.... just south of st. rose parkway. no one was injured. a driver crashes into a "payday loans" center. it happened just before five p-m on flamingo and eastern. no word on if anyone was hurt. the race is on for the white house. democrats are working to gain support from voters with nevada caucuses a month away. nevada senator harry reid held a press conference to talk about the importance of our state's caucus. he says he fought hard to bring it here so the east coast would not control the fate of the nation. senator reid also says democrats are strong with minority voters... so it's important to be one of the first states to caucus. with emmy award winner john huck. christine maddela. and weather 24/7 with chief meteoroligist ted pretty. this is fox5 news at 10. local. las vegas. 250 members of the national guard here in nevada....are starting a one year deployment in the middle east. an activation ceremony was held today for the 17th sustainment brigade. as fox5's les krifaton shows us.... for many of these national guard members - this is their first deployment. on behalf of a grateful state and nation we are proud of you and thankful for your service for nevada governor brian sandoval attending and speaking at the mobilization ceremony for members of our nevada national guard was an honor it just makes me burst with pride. the men and women of the 17th sustainment bridgade and nevada national guard going off for a year to defend our freedooms and defend of our country. the governor joined

families and friends at the mandalay bay events center to say goodbye to the 250 men and women from our national guard who are deploying for a year to kuwait. they will also support operations in jordan, qatar, united arab emirates and iraq. this is his second deployment and it's his birthday too and every year he's been in boots second deployment for staff sergeant lawrence magee nearly 70 percent of the sustainment brigade will be going to a war zone for the first time. if that isn't enough stress these civilian soldiers who work among us when not called for active duty will be away from family for a year. how are you going to deal with this? i don't know annvi fuller's husband lee says they will rely on today's modern technology to make that one year a little easier to handle skype, phone calls whatever we can do for sergeant benjamin alworth who is on his first deployment getting to serve his country is something he's been wanting to do it's something i volunteered for you know and i'm

waiting is the hardest part. while the waiting is the hardest part, the national guard also recognizes that the families being left behind are as important those heading to the middle east, especially the children. they were asked to come down to the floor to take part in the ceremony. the commander of the 17, col. vernon scarborough said it best as the ceremony closed the the deployment officially got underway. i know i speak for everyone here in the 17th when i say thank you to the families, thank you for the employers, thank you to our leadership for standing beside us when we go through this. our motto is victory through endurance and we will be victorious, thank you very much these national guard members are joining some other nevada national guard who are currently deployed as military police in the middle east. they were deployed last year. among those being deployed today is the brother of fox5

there will be more than 200 democratic caucus locations in nevada - which takes place saturday february 20th. the republican caucus follows on tues february 23-rd. two ranchers who inspired a standoff with federal officials... in oregon over the use of government- owned and controlled land -- in the pacific northwest have surrendered to police in california. nearly two dozen armed protestors took a stand at the remote malheur national wildlife refuge near burns, oregon. in support of dwight and steven hammond-- who were convicted of setting fires in 2001. the pair say they did it to reduce the growth of invasive plants and protect their property. but prosecutors say the hammonds set the fire to try and cover up poaching. dwight and steven hammond are set to serve out an additional five years in jail after already serving time. : "i'm going to prison for five years for 127? seems
