family... the family tells me they are just absolutely devastated... keith childress was shot by police on december 31st on gilded crown court... he was in town visiting from arizona... there was a warrant out for his arrest.... his family says that shouldn't have been a death sentence. "drop the gun drop the gun whats to drop theres no weapon so whats to drop there sno gun in his hands the family of keith childress watches the last moment of the 23 year olds life... the family says they asked they see the entire video but the police department said no... the video released to the public shows just before shots were fired by police... we are actually completely outrage on december 31 metro police sayjust after 2 p-m they were called in to assist in trackng childress.. metro says childress

they believed he was on the run... they were told he was wanted for attempted murder... metro says they were also told he might be armed... it was reported to metro by the us marshals that the weapon was in the car and childress was wanted for attempted murder the attempted murder charge turned out to be false metro says childress was hit 5 times... after not complying to more than two dozen officer commands.officer s believed he had a gun... it was really a cell phone. when they demanded for him to put down his gun he didnt have one so its not that hes disobeying its that he didnt have anything to put down yes hes not listening to commands but hes not running hes not threatening metro says of the two officers there is only body camera from one... because the other failed to enact his. the video released shows childress crossing the street... after that because of the body cameras position a lot cant be seen. in mondays press conference they say they opened

childress turned towards them... after 2 minutes childress advanced on sgt bohana and officer walfrod and sgt bohanan said do not walk towards us do not walk towards us there is absolutely no justification for anything that happenned at least at most use your stun gun you use your taser the family says they've sought legal representation... and are demanding to see the shooting of keith childress in its entirety. we need to have legal representation because of what all the stories that have happenned you saw the video they admitted it was a mistake to know that iwas for absolutely no reason to know that his children are now fatherless for abosultely no reason we are at a loss for words the family tells fox 5 the funeral for keith childress will be held this saturday in san diego california. they say after watching the police video they continue to have more questions than answers. reporting live cyndi lundeberg fox 5 news local

the two officers involved in the shooting were sergeant robert bohanan whos been on the force for 18 years... and officer blake walford whos been serving for one year. the man convicted of shooting a man and causing a fiery crash on the strip in 2013 was officially sentenced today. in this particular circumstance jury sentenced you to death for first degree murders of mister bolden,

" a jury gave ammar harris the death penalty back in november. three people were killed in the crash. there's a little more than 80 people on death row in our state. the last execution in nevada was in 2006. police arrested the two people they say killed a man outside a 24 hour fitness. kyle staats and megan hippie were arrested over the weekend. they're both facing first degree murder charges and attempted robbery with a deadly weapon. . last tuesday, gym employees heard a gunshot, and found neil gandler dead in his car. police had some surveillance footage to work with, and they say hippie had talked about being involved in the they were able to car, and say she removed the spoiler in hopes recognize it. hippie told police she and staats saw gandler and attempted to rob him at she told police

police believe a woman suspected of causing three seperate crashes in the valley was driving under the influence. in cell phone video captured by a witness you can see the woman resisting arrest as an officer struggles to pull her out of her truck. fox five's rachel moore spoke to witnesses at the scene. rachel ll: the suspect parked at this auto max parking lot, and when police arrived, they struggled to arrest her. one of the officers threatening to shoot her dog if she did not get out of the car. officer: get out of the car! suspect: no! no! you're looking at cell phone video recorded by a witness. the woman is suspected of driving under the influence and causing three seperate crashes. she pulled into the parking lot of auto max on saint louis and fremont. you can see the officer struggling to pull her out of the car as she resists arrest. he slids of her shoes and tugs on her sweatpants. officer: get out of the car! i'll shoot your dog! suspect: shoot me! police say the woman may have been the cause of

run crashes monday afternoon. witnesses first reported her white pickup truck striking a pole at an undisclosed location. about 15 minutes later, another report of a white pickup was called in. this time, the truck hit a sedan near pecos road and stewart avenue. then a few minutes after that and about a mile away, several cars were involved in a hit- and-run crash at sahara avenue and lamb boulevard. witnesses say was caused by a white pickup truck. the woman finally parked at the auto max. ariel lopez: i went to approach her thinking it was customer, but i saw that she was passed out. so i tapped on her window to see if she was ok. she didn't respond. witnesses say a black pickup truck followed her into the lot. auto max employees called police. nader niroomand, witness: i was scared. i'm going to be honest. i was scared, and i called 911 immediately and the dispatcher was asking me to shut off the truck. in the video the officer drags her out of the car and pushes her head into the asphalt when other officers run to help arrest her. the command that she stop resisting arrest. nader niroomand, witness: i'm glad she got here and she

local las vegas. faraday's arrival to nevada is expected to have an economic impact of around 55 billion dollars over a 20 year span. google is expanding its online service that makes it easier to judge the costs of installing solar panals to nevada. "project sunroof" uses the eye-in- the-sky google earth images to calculate how much shade covers a rooftop. it also looks at weather patterns, industry pricing, and available subsstidies. the program launched earlier this summer, and is now available in our state. nevada energy regulators will meet this week to decide whether to hold off on new rates for solar power customers. last month, the p-u-c voted to change the service rates, and reduce the amount the utility company pays to buy back power. a standoff between armed protestors and the government continues in oregon... with the bundy family in the thick of it. what happened today during the demonstration. and what a bodyguard for the family tells

armed protestors in oregon say they're standing up to the federal government and are refusing to leave the wildlife refuge buildings they took over. the group is lead by ammon bundy... who was involved in a standoff last year against the government over his father's land. he and the other protesters are supporting ranchers dwight and steven hammond. the father and son were sentenced to

burn spread to u-s government land. bundy says this case is a result of a failed land grab by the government. "(ammon bundy, protester) "we've definitely made a statement, but statements aren't good enough. we intend to go to work and assist the people of harney county." " the hammonds turned themselves in today, but protestors say they're in this for the long haul. we spoke to a body guard for the bundy family who is in oregon now. he says all the protestors have done is walk in, put up their tents, and addressed the issues. " we're here to ensure this can be done peacefully. none of us want anything. first of all, let's clear up that, i do not want violence . i want this to be done peacefully . we want the land restored back to the people. " last april, the bundy family was involved in a standoff here in nevada, after federal land was shut down to round-up cattle. protestors came from around the country to support the bundys.

caucuses are next month... and democrats are reaching out to nevada voters this week by bringing all of their candidates to town. hillary clinton, bernie sanders, and martin o'malley will be here wednesday. nevada senator harry reid is hosting a dinner for them. he says he'll make a decision on who to endorse after the caucus. reid called donald trump and marco rubio "anti- immigrant", and stressed how important the hispanic vote is. " hispanic vote important, asian vote important,, african american vote important they basically go to the democrat. dont think there's a reason any minority should vote for the republican candidates. " the republican national committee responded to reid's remarks, saying republicans have been building relationships with hispanics for years. the democratic caucus takes place saturday february 20th. the republican caucus follows on tues february
