people lost their lives due to accidental gunfire, their teenage daughter was one of those people... and they hope to prevent other families from going through what they went through. obama "every time i think of those kids i get mad..." president barack obama says the executive actions he announced today arn't meant to take away peoples guns, like some are claiming, theyre meant to fight gun violence obama " and from every family who never imagined that their loved one would be taken from our lives by a bullet from a gun." the president invited survivors and the family members of victims of gun violence to his emotional announcement... in the crowd, a local family from henderson who knows the pain of losing a loved one to a bullet all too well... " i was the first person on the scene trying to administer cpr and it was hopeless, so you know i feel very passionatly about this." obama "if a child can't open a bottle of aspirin, we should make sure they can't pull a trigger on a gun." gun safety technology is just one of the points in the presidents actions, the plan also requires gun sellers to provide background checks and expands the background check system it adds more than 200 atf agents to help with the enforcement of gun laws already in place and gives 500 million dollars towards treatment for mental illness . the mohlers say for them this isnt a partisan issue, its personal, and they hope these actions and gun education can help prevent more deaths like their daughter's. the mohlers made it clear to me that they themselves are actually gun owners and they aren't at all against owning guns, but they

presidents actions are common sense and could help prevent more tragedies... also present at the presidents announcement the family members of those killed in the 2012 sandy hook massacre... some people have concerns after hearing president obama's speech today, especially when it comes to the costs that will come with new regulations. "the gun store" owner bob irwin says the plan makes it so all sellers have to get licenses. this includes hobbiests who may only sell a few guns a year.

the attention of celebrities. rapper "the game" posted about several officer- involved shootings on both instagram and twitter, and included the incident here in las vegas: "officers who shot keith childress 19 times for holding a cellphone they thought was a gun, are free." metro released some body cam footage of officers shooting 23-year-old keith childress. they say childress ignored verbal commands to surrender, and they believed his phone was a gun. metro also they believed his phone was a gun. metro also confirmed childress was not wanted for attempted murder as they previously thought. childress' family says they're honored people are taking notice of the case and getting the word out. they're planning a funeral for saturday in san diego. a 29 year old man is behind bars... for the first homicide investigation on 2016. police found "shawn lynn glover" yesterday, near lake mead and rancho. he's now facing murder and assault with a

charges. on new year's day, metro says glover got in a fight with the victim, "patrick fleming", and then shot him. this was in a gated community near centennial and lamb. there were several people inside the home, but no one else was hurt. witnesses told police the two men knew each other, and this wasn't a random act of violence. the couple accused of killing a man at a 24 hour fitness parking lot made their first court appearance. police say 27- year-old kyle staats and 19- year-old megan hippie killed neil gandler in his car, after trying to rob him. gym employees heard the gunshot, and saw his car had rolled on a median. hippie later told police she and staats were out stealing cars before the shooting, and she says staats is the one who killed gandler. the 15 day prelim was waved, and their next court date is january 20th. dozens of pedestrians died on valley roads last year. the state plans to spend millions of dollars to make the road safer to cross... but not for people. nevada is actually

14 million dollars on deer crossings... i just do not want my nightmare to become anyone elses reality this year two underpasses for deer will be built along highway 80... wildlife conservationists say the crossings save lives... throughout the country every 26 hits a deer with their car. there is also a significant public safety issue we have completed deer crossigns in northern nevada and its estimated 7000 deer were stopped from crossing interstate 80 wildlife conservatonists... say saving human lives and animal lives go hand in hand... if we can save human lives by protecting deer then thats a good thing but for bush... she wants the focus to remain on saving human lives first... i would never want anyone to experience the pain that i did those deer crossings are scheduled to be finished by spring 2017. governor brian sandoval also

the bundy-led protestors occupying government buildings in oregon say they're staying put. nevada rancher cliven bundy's son ammon is leading the group. some are calling him a hypocrite, after it came out that he borrowed more than a half million dollars from a federal loan program in 2010. bundy used the money to fund his valet fleet service. he explaines how this fits in with his stance against the federal government. " (ammon bundy, militia leader) "i believe that there are roles in which the federal government has to pay, right? and that was an sba loan and i took that loan and that was an effort in assisting the people in using their rights." bundy says he's not anti- government - and that he's only against what he calls "tyranny." the protestors say they are helping two ranchers convicted of arson. investigators and the f-b-i say for now, they'll wait out this situation, and they'll intervene if it becoems violent. some disappointing

triathlete fans... the ironman seventy-point- three silverman event has been discontinued in henderson. race officials made the announcement on the ironman facebook and website pages. they say they appreciate the efforts of the city, volunteers, and everyone who helps organize this race... and they encourage athletes to check out other events. ironman didn't give a reason why this was canceled. the silverman has become a popular annual event each fall in henderson... attracting thousands of athletes. a u-n-r student at the center of an end-of-life court battle that received national attention, has died. a family lawyer says 20-year-old "aden hailu" passed away monday at saint mary's hospital in reno. the attorney says she was still on life support when she died, and the family was told respitory failure was the official cause of death. her father has been fighting the hospital in court for months, saying as long as there was a chance hailu was alive, she should be treated. he lost a bid last week to delay brain wave tests
