and just a few hours ago - clinton was across town making her case to a crowd of around 400 people at a grass roots anthem. highest priority si making the economy work for everyone. which means more jobs and higher incomes - but also finding a comprehensive way to support families and create an avenue for them to get ahead. the presidential hopeful also talked about her plans to invest in infrastructure, creating incentives that will encourage businesses to hire locally and the importance of combatting climate change. take a listen to what a local clinton supporter had to say about the former secretary of state's plans.. terri bothwick, nevada:"she really seems to have a comprehensive idea of wha hte nation needs to be going forward and plans for a wide range of topics" clinton also talked about a comprehensive plan to fight terrrorism which includes depriving isis of terrirotry

putting the finishing touches there is a lot of security here. obviously a very high profile event so along with secret service -- tsa is here to help with metal detector screening and we also saw a couple of k-9 units patrolling the floor. this dinner is a chance for the presidential candidates to make one last push in their campaigns before the caucuses in february. nevada will be the first western state and the third state in the country to make its voice heard in the democratic presidential primary. tonight guests will enjoy a three course meal -- market salad -- heritage chicken -- and cheesecake for dessert. they'll start letting people in around 6 and at 6:45 the speakers will begin. reporting live -- rachel moore fox five news. local. las vegas.

left sun city anthem's rally today, she sat down with us for an interview you'll see only on fox5. i had a chance to talk to her about nevada's increased political presence in the 201 election. "nationally we hear a lot about nh and ia, but talk about the importance of nv in the presidential election. i think nv is critical bc is it is the state in the west, one of the first 4 to make their views known ab who the next president should be. it's a diverse state which is especially attractive to me bc i think it's representative of many other parts of america. the enthusiasm is building. i'm thrilled with what i'm hearing about people really paying attention, want to be a part of the process. and do you think, especially this presidential election, nv, and particularly lv is known for casinos, entertainment, but we've had a lot of political focus in

"we're more inclusive. we've seen the candidates step up and go into neighborhoods that they usually don't, i

event with marco rubio at a cuban restaurant.. i think republicans are in a great position to show that we hold nevada." armstrong pointed out that other republican candidates like ted cruz and jeb bush, also speak spanish. referring to brian sandoval, armstrong says another part of our state's diverse political makeup comes in having an hispanic republican for governor. metro police are responding to non-injury crashes again. back in 2014 the department stopped responding to crashes where nobody was hurt - because they didnt have enough officers. but now theyre getting ready to hire more cops. fox 5's ophelia young has more on the new policy and what you should remember if and when you get into a wreck. "engine" more cops - "siren more responses - starting with non- injury crashes. in 2014 - metro couldn't afford more traffic officers and stopped responding to less serious crashes. "with reduced manpower over the last couple years when responded to accidents officers

long periods of time." after the change - the number of responses to crashes in 2013 - which was 23 thousand, dropped by half the next year. response time was faster but for some noninjury wrecks - citations weren't given - making it difficult to hold drivers accountable. as sheriff joseph lombardo promised - they're now able to respond to more crashes now that the department is getting more funding. but they're still encouraging drivers in fender benders to think twice about calling - if they feel they don't need help from police. if youre in a small crash - they ask you to call 311 instead - "the other party has their information insurance cards drivers license can you do a name exchange." if the accident is serious - call 911. "if there is major damage or any type of injury or that drivers are impaired traffic officers will complete a full investigation." metro says the

responses to traffic collision will no doubt spike - but they hope the increase wont affect response times to severe emergencies. they say this also benefits drivers in small crashes who just want get on with their day. the man accused of shooting a metro police officer says his life is being threatened inside jail. "i've had my life threatened in here by police officers." teag fox told the judge today that police are threatening him inside the clark county detention center-- and that is life is in what he calls 'immediate danger.' the judge told fox she could put him into protective custody... but recommended he address the issue with his attorney. today the defense asked for more time to review evidence. fox plans to plead not guilty at an upcoming preliminary hearing. police say officer gregory sedminik is expected to make a full recovery - after being shot in the arm and upper torso. on a car, who
