left and martin o'malley supporters sprinkled in the middle. tonight was an opportunity for all three democratic presidential hopefuls to make one final campaign push in the silver state before the caucuses in february. nevada is the first state in the western region and he third state in the country to let it's voice be heard in the democratic presidential primary. each candidate spoke for close to a half hour -- reiterating the messages they've been touting since hoping on the campaign trail. tonight secretary clinton governor o'malley criticizing nevada's public utilities commission for crushing the solar energy industry. and senator sanders promising he would raise the minimum wage to $15-an-hour. before the presidential candidates took the stage -- four democratic candidates for the fourth congressional district warmed up the crowd --followed by congresswoman dina titus. and then u.s. senator harry reid made some comments before introducing the candidates. reporting live -- rachel moore fox five news local

before tonight's dinner, the democratic frontrunner sat down to an exclusive interview with fox5. i think nv is critical bc is it is the state in the west, one of the first 4 to make their views known ab who the next president should be. the hearing for a man accused of shooting and injuring a metro police officer.... has been postponed.. because evidence is still being collected... but teag fox did tell the judge-- he wasn't safe. " i'd like to say i've had my life threatened in here by police officers " fox led police on a six hour manhunt after shooting officer gregory sedminik last month.... when the officer responded to a domestic disturbance call at the emerald suites near pebble and las vegas

expected to be okay. fox's hearing has been rescheduled for the end of the month. tonight a veteran police officer with 15 years on the force is off the job... after getting busted for drinking and driving. the metro police department is giving us very few details about what led to the arrest of officer dave denton... fox 5's cyndi lundeberg... joins us now live from newsroom to we know so far... denton was off duty when he was arrested... fox 5 requested his arrest record... and the police report associated with a crash he may have been involved in... metro says it'll take a few days to get both. what we do know is officer denton was arrested... and booked for driving under the influence. officer dave denton was arrested tuesday morning... and booked for misdemeanor d-u-i. las vegas metro would not comment on if this was dentons first time driving under the influence. d-u-i attorney jerry donahue says denton could face stiffer penalties because he's an officer. police officers are held to a higher

supposed to be enforcing the law not breaking it denton was arrested on tropicana and decatur tuesday morning.... metro says that incident report wouldn't be ready for a few days. in clark county there are almost two thousand dui arrests every month its kind of common it happens frequently las vegas metro police department tells fox 5 denton has worked for the department since june 2001... they said they wouldnt talk on camera about the case. ive never represented a police officer generally cops dont make this mistake donahue says we shouldn't automatically assume denton will be found guilty of d-u-i. the breath machine is not very accurate they have an arrest quota they do no have a convicton quota so if you admit to drinking youre probably going to jail even if its one beer at a ball game two hours ago

when officer dave denton might be in court... they said they were unsure. we also asked to see his personelle file... but metro denied our request. reporting live cyndi lundeberg fox 5 news local las vegas. metro says they will release officer dentons arrest record... and the details of what led to his arrest in the coming days. he is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. metro police are reinstating a policy they did away with two years ago. they will once again be responding to non-injury accidents. "we at the las vegas metro police department feel by adding this service we will enhance traffic safety. we want to remind citizens in the community that it is their partnership with us making streets a safe place. " the department says drivers can still swap information if they are in a hurry... and encourage drivers who are in minor fender benders to contact 3-1-1 rather than 9-1-1.

injury crashes. in 2014 - metro couldn't afford more traffic officers and stopped responding to less serious crashes. "with reduced manpower over the last couple years when responded to accidents officers were tied up for long periods of time." after the change - the number of responses to crashes in 2013 - which was 23 thousand, dropped by half the next year. response time was faster but for some noninjury wrecks - citations weren't given - making it difficult to hold drivers accountable. as sheriff joseph lombardo promised - they're now able to respond to more crashes now that the department is getting more funding. but they're still encouraging drivers in fender benders to think twice about calling - if they feel they don't need help from police. if youre in a small crash - they ask you to call 311 instead - "the other party has their information insurance cards drivers license can you do a name
