this is fox5 news at 10. local. las vegas. dreams of a billion dollar fortune dashed for las vegans... unless you bought your ticket in chino hills california. i'm christine maddela. i'm elizabeth watts. california lottery officials say a winning ticket was sold at a seven eleven in the los angeles suburb. take a look.... people are mobbing the convenience store that sold the lucky ticket. the winning combination 4- 8- 19- 27- 34 and powerball 10 the odds of winning the record breaking jackpot were 1 in 292 point 2 million. the record breaking jackpot--- brought people of out the woodwork... buying tickets... were still waiting to hear about any winning tickets from other states... but for now lets check in with fox5's miguel martinez-valle who joins us in the newsroom with more on the last few hours of the powerball frenzy...

40 degree mark into the weekend and beyond. we will see another round of freezing lows into thursday with a start at 34. a man at the center of a more than six hour long stand off in north las vegas is in police custody tonight... the suspect... ricardo martinez live posted on facebook the entire standoff... fox 5s cyndi lundeberg talked to martinez' family. she's live outside his home... police tell me martinez dumped more than five gallons of gasoline in this home and barricaded himself inside... they think he wanted to set the house on fire. officers tell me it's so much gas, the air is poisonous and the family can't go back inside. during today's standoff, martinez was on facebook posting videos during the ordeal. take a look. facebook video: i didnt threaten anybody... i didnt do sh a visibly upset

martinez... made a plea to his family while showing a razor blade in his mouth ... johnny correa tells me he called martinez after seeing the disturbing posts on his friend's facebook page. johnny correa i was like are you okay and he said no i am not okay i cannot live like this anymore i said things will get better i said dont do this you will be alright correa says he was on the phone with martinez when north las vegas police showed up just after 1030 wednesday morning... aaron patty pio north las vegas police- we received calls about a disturbance in the 2600 block of st george our officers received information there was a potentially suicidal subject inside the home throughout the six hour long stand off... martinez updated his facebook... posting things like time to get shot by police... he asked police for information... talked to his family... facebook video: "to my family... argument . he has been relieved of duty without pay pending the results of the internal investigation. metro says burt was arrested back in 2011 on another domestic violence related case. we are now getting a look at the man-- police say is responsible for the first homicide of the year in henderson. this is daron clanton.... police say the 22- year-old killed his father kevin clanton on monday. according to the arrest report--- police say clanton shot his father after an argument. he told police kevin clanton got physical-- so he grabbed a gun-- and when his father started walking toward him-- he started firing-- unloading the entire clip. clanton now faces an open murder charge. a woman is dead after an early morning rollover accident. the accident happened on summerlin parkway--near the rampart exit. nevada highway patrol says stacey palmer was killed when she lost control over her vehicle and overcorrected... and drove onto the center median where the car flipped. palmer was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. n-h-p believes speed was a

it is election year... and come october all eyes will be on las vegas... as unlv plays host to the final presidential debate. "nats of the band " the university is working with the l-v-c-v-a to get the community pumped up for the political event. a new logo for the debate was unveiled. its slogan will be "let freedom ring." governor brian sandoval and other state leaders were on hand for the start of a yearlong effort highlighting our city's role. "we have this final presidential debate. it really puts nevada on the map, puts unlv on the map. i can't wait to make that impression. the final presidential debate is on october 19th... at the thomas and mack. middle school students across the state could soon have a technilogical edge. the state has inked a deal with an oregon based computer manufacturer... to implement the new nevada ready 21 program-- which integrates technology into every day lesson plans. so that students

"mark ruffalo: nevada is the testing ground of the utility industry to try and kill solar in the u.s. and heres where we have to stop it " the restructuring would cut the rate nv energy pays solar customers for generating excess power. since that unanimous decision from the commission, several solar companies responded with mass layoffs. some even stopped service in nevada all together. larry cohen, branch manager for sunrun in las vegas "now for sure there will be loss of economic revenue for each municipality because just one company alone has put in millions of dollars and my other competitors im sure have matched the same amount of money." cohen says he had to lay off dozens of employees. sunrun will stop nevada operations on march 6th. a couple groups opposed to the restructuring filed a petition to reconsider the changes. the commission has 40 days to grant or deny it. now fox5 weather 24/7, with chief

on fire. i talked to martinez' cousin tonight. she tells me martinez lived here with his parents and had been fighting with them. the family says that's what started the entire stand off... it began just after 10 this morning... police say they domestic disturbance... thats when someone told them martinez was inside with a gun... during the stand off martinez was updating his facebook page... one of his posts read time to get shot by police... another- 'what charges am i facing someone better give me the info' i talked to martinez' friend who tells me he was actively watching the facebook posts... and called martinez during stand off. " but because more than 130 members of congress missed the vote-- house speaker paul ryan wants to throw it out... and asked for a do-over. lawmakers agreed to vacate the vote, meaning it no longer appears in the official record. a re-vote is scheduled for the end of next month. the measure would prevent the president from lifting sanctions on individuals or entities in iran unless the administration certifies they are not supporting terror or building weapons. a lawsuit has been filed in the u-s against malaysia airlines for the

years ago. it is the first suit to be filed... and it was done in federal court in washington d-c by the sons of philip wood, who died in the crash. the flight was carrying 239 passengers and crew, the statute of limitation for filing a claim against the airline runs out in early march. more lawsuits on behalf of other families are expected in the next couple of weeks. bill cosby is not expected to be deposed in a defamation lawsuit next month... now that the comedian is facing criminal charges. lawyers representing the seven women who filed the suit... still hopes to depose cosby's wife camille on february 22nd. cosby was arrested on december 30th in pennsylvania for allegedly drugging and assaulting a woman insided his home more than a decade ago. the criminal charges are the first to be brought against cosby. former pro wrestler hulk hogan in court for his lawsuit against the gawker website for releasing a sex tape of him. he is suing for 100 million dollars-- for invasion of privacy.
