america are paying tribute to doctor martin luther king junior today. his life's work is a part of our daily lives. schools and public buildings are named after him... as well as a national memorial in washington, d.c. today - las vegas held a parade in his honor. band playing it's the 34-th annual martin luther king junior parade in downtown las vegas. people were lined up along fourth street for hours today watching locals celebrate dr king's memory and dream. victor loveless /

joseph cernik/visiting from denver::: "baggage lines are insane just making it through from denver was nuts almost everybody on the plane coming here for different conventions." joseph himself is here for the shooting hunting and outdoor trade show- or the shot show. its the biggest of fourteen different conventions las vegas is host to this week. the shot show will bring in 65 thousand people from about a hundred countries. bill brassard/shot show:::: "from all over from europe they come in from asia." this is the shot show's 15th year in vegas - they knew it'd be busy. available so i had to stay in a different hotel than my colleages were all kind of spread out." the international builders show is the second largest convention in town this week - attracting another 60 thousand. mary white/visiting from denver:: "we actually had ours booked and we couldnt bring any more people along because of the show because it had sold out." from boarding the plane "i had to sit in the middle seat which you know nobody likes." to dinner reservations - it's noticeable more crowded on the strip. it's just week one - and visitors are saying the more the merrier. "this city seems to be set up to adapt for these things. you got the convention center and everythign so i think the city will handle it just fine." conventions are big business here in las vegas the aria recently announced plans to expand its convention space.... leaving its "cirque" show - zarkana - without a home. southern nevada. in one crash, troopers believe a man walked into highway traffic before he was hit and killed by a semi-truck. this happened this morning on the southbound side of the i-15 near the jean exit... causing

travelers. the man was hit before just before ten... forcing emergency crews to block at least one lane of traffic for several hours. the driver of the semi stayed on the scene. and a woman who stepped off a center median and into the path of an suv was hit and killed last night. it happened on sahara and las verdes, between valley view and arville. police believe she stepped off the center median and into the eastbound travel lane as a 79-year- old man driving a 2000 isuzu rodeo approached. she was hit and later died at umc. a flurry of political activity between washington and iran this weekend. the u-s and other world powers lifting economic sanctions on tehran after the u-n nuclear watchdog determined the islamic republic complied with the terms of a nuclear deal. soon after... iran and the u-s swapped prisoners in what the administration says is a separate event. fox news senior foreign affairs correspondent greg palkot is in germany - with

three americans freed by iran this weekend are safe in germany. pastor saeed abedini, former marine amir hekmati, and journalist jason rezaian receiving medical treatment at a u-s military hospital. rezaian speaking with his brother for the first time in eighteen months after his release. rezaian says: "..he sounds pretty strong, he sounds good, hopeful really all together, which is great. i think it's gonna be work, but i think he's gonna get better." iran freeing the americans in exchange for seven iranians detained in the u-s. the swap occurring the same day washington and other countries lifted economic sanctions on tehran. the obama administration insists the two moves happened independently of each other. secretary of state john kerry defending the swap, which is being widely criticized by republicans. kerry says: "..we enforced the law we put them in jail we also kept the sanctions in place and then we lifted them when the terms of the agreement were met and we thought it was appropriate to

home." meantime... the iranian president met with the international atomic energy agency chief after the organization determined tehran fulfilled the tes of last summer's nuclear deal, which triggered the sanctions relief. the two agreeing to strengthen cooperation between the islamic republic and the i- a-e-a. amano says: "..there will (be) no discrimination to iran. there will not be particular treatment to iran either." community and some just took advantage of the day to relax. fox5's les krifaton was up at the lee canyon resort where today plenty of people were enjoying the chill by skiing and snowboarding. there were plenty of people who took advantage of the day to get out onto the slopes and have a little family or me time in the snow. the traffic getting up there didn't seem to discourage many people we've already had more snow than all of last season and that alone was enough to drive people by what looks like the thousands up to mount charleston on this holiday. once they manourvered through the traffic and it was busy throughout the day as you can see from this video it was time to have fun. beautiful day beautiful weather crowded but a lot of fun. for the ski resort operator these are the best of times because its been a while since all of their trails have been open.. there have been some trails that have finally opened this season with

been open in a couple 2 or 3 seasons. and our die hard snow lovers can't seem to get enough. i like it. from skiing to boarding to even tubing was running at almost maximum capacity and that alone along with the great ski conditions charged up everybody. how many runs you've done today. three -four. connor bracken was more than ready to spend the day away from the classroom and on the ski hill but his preferance is to board. it's way easier. el nino have been very good to the ski resort so far and we still have a few more months ahead and more snow forecast we'll be really excited if that happens . snow just makes everyone happy so we'd l;ove to see more people were enjoying sledding and that mess of broken sleds and plastic items people used to slide on the snow

for the eighth year in a row ... dozens of n-v energy employees are giving back. today is not only martin luther king junior day - it's also a day of giving. three square distributes tons of food each year to organizations around the valley. one of them is the "backpack for kids program" which gives foor in backpacks for local studetns to take home on the weekend so they have something to eat. doug cannon / nv energy "last year we did 5,040 bags, where you load food into backpacks and food for kids so they can have food on the weekends when they don't have the school lunch program otherwise available to them." nv energy had 90 employees on hand today filling backpacks .. all of them doing this on their own time. students from core academy... doing their part on the "day of service". they paid a visit to the salvation army... to help those less fortunate today. the students served meals... and handed out care packages... filled with day-to-day items... for those struggling to make ends meet. it's the second year in a row that core academy
