it's the 34-th annual martin luther king junior parade in downtown las vegas. people were lined up along fourth street for hours today watching locals celebrate dr king's memory and dream. victor loveless / watching the parade "martin luthor king was a very special man, he tried to unite people to stop the violence, stope fighting, can we all get along and i guess when he died it kind of subsided, not like it used to be when he was living." anne browne / watching the parade "you could feel the excitement, all the kids and the anticapation, it's a fun great event, family event." carrie dillard / watching the parade "it's keeping his dream alive, it's what he always wanted, the table of brotherhood, that's where we're at now." there were some politics in today's parade .. including a giant bernie sculpture. many enjoying a mountains today. what they found was the magic of people were

thousands. fox5's les krifaton fought the traffic and managed to get to resort that looked like it was running at near- capacity. yeah people managed to book ahead for activities like tubing which was sold out again today. it's been a banner year so far at lee canyon. this isn't something you see often heading up to mount charleston especially the last few years where snow conditions were not the best. but this is an el nio winter and the conditions on the hill couldn't be better there have been some trails that have finally opened this season with the snow we've got that haven't been open for 2 or 3 seasons. the resort has already has more snow than it had all of last winter and that has our winter weather enthusiasts charged up. meantime down the road where

women who live near major highways - could be more likley to have fertility problems. that's due to the pollution from vehicles. researchers followed more than 36-thousand women over a decade... analyzing the air pollution and traffic exhaust near their homes. women who lived within a tenth of a mile of a major roadway were eleven percent more likely to experience fertility issues - compared to those who lived further away. the authors of the study say more research is needed

a search is underway in northern california.... for a ski instructor - missing since friday. police say it's possible... that he's still alive. crews are trying to track down "carson may"... near a mountain that's seen recent avalanche activity - at the "sugar bowl" ski resort - about an hour west of reno. that's where may's cell phone was last traced. the weather has been so tough... even helicopters had to turn away from the area. "we ordered up 2 helicopters one from the national guard, they actually tried to make it up here and they hit a wall a ceiling of weather they couldn't make it past. chp tried to make it up as well they weren't able to pass in." dogs are being used to sniff out anyone trapped beneath the snow. may's brother is also a ski instructor - and said to be searching the mountain on his own. the national guard is arriving in flint michigan... as the town copes with an ongoing water crisis. on sunday alone - troops visited five thousand homes to provide free bottled water and filters for families. state officials as the town copes with an ongoing water crisis.

girl has been asking for donations instead of presents for christmas. this year... she decided to use her money to buy pet food for animals in need. kent erdahl has the story from denver. love is never in short supply... when kyra dooley is stocking the shelves... (nats - "...it's exciting.") exciting becau even though it's mid-january... (nats - "here's this." "alright!") these are kyra's christmas gifts... and if you couldn't tell... she's pretty proud... it all started when she asked santa for donations to help pawsco, a denver non-profit that rescues and fosters dogs... (nats -"and cats too." ) ...and they also collect dog and cat food, which is what kyra set out to buy with those donations. dooley says: "i thought maybe 50 or 60 bags." but it turns out 12 hundred dollars will buy a whole lot more than that.
