this is fox5 news at 6. local. las vegas within a few hours - and miles of each other .. two of the most powerful political figures in the nation are campaigning here in the valley. one of them was president -- the other wants to be. i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. we have live coverage from both donald trump's rally at the south point .. and an upcoming rally by bill clinton. that's where we begin.. with fox 5's cyndi lundberg at advanced technologies academy on vegas drive near rancho. tonight we can expect to hear former president bill clinton highlight hillarys past and attacking bernie sanders... it's interesting because for a while clintons campaign never mentioned sanders... but now the vermont senator has an eight point lead ahead of her in iowa... rally was held. les what was trump talking about today. with the primary season about to begin and trump's poll numbers still strong the crowd donald trump worked the crowd and they ate up everything he said there is a long way to go beore the republicans choose their presidental candidate but you can see and hear that donald trump smells victory. no matter where we go we're all the same no matter where we go it this it's people they love this country. his first targets thursday were opponents jeb bush and senator ted cruz. trump talked about how bush has spent the most amount of money and is in last place in the republican polls while the person who has spent the least himself is at the top. then he set his sites on cruz. he looks like a nervous wreck he's going down. he had

moment and he blew it. on the job front trump talked about huge trade deficits with countries like china. he then talked about jobs heading south to mexico and to other countries jobs that used to belong to americans we have political hacks negotiating with china, vietnam, with japan with mexico with all those countries making a fortune off our stupidity. as president trump again said a wall will be built along our southern border and reiterated that he is not opposed to immigration i want people to come in but they have to come in legally on obamacare trump promised to get rid of it and will create a new program that will as he said make sense. at one point during his 40 minute speech a heckler stood up but she was drowned about by the crowd and led away by security. trump also praised law enforcment and asked some metro officers to come up on stage and the crowded just kept

center. after closing arguments wednesday... a jury returned with a verdict today. they found 59- year-old otis holland guilty of 17 felony charges, including child sexual assault, lewdness, and conspiracy to destroy evidence. multiple women testified that they had sex or sexual contact with the former pastor at the united faith church in henderson when they were teens. holland denied wrongdoing and his defense attorney suggested that the accusers concocted stories about being abused because they thought they loved the pastor and were jealous of his adult relationships - including with other women from the church. we are going to go home tonight and we are going to go home tonight and sleep in our beds. we are going to sit down as a family and we are going to have dinner together as a family. this isn't breaking us this isn't broken us. it's only made us stronger and we're going to move forward as a family, which is how it should be. it's always how we wanted it to be, but

some rough roads to get there but we are def there and we are going to continue on. holland faces life in prison with his sentencing scheduled for march 16. new charges were filed against holland yesterday. a special prosecutor in the case says it involves a victim younger than ten years old. he also says holland had the victims film themselves. nevada regulators have given final approval for the off-strip casino- hotel chain station casinos to go public, again. the gaming control board and the nevada gaming commission approved the move today. the business will be publicly traded under the new name, red rock resorts inc. brothers frank fertitta the third and lorenzo fertitta will maintain a significant stake. station owns or partially owns 21

vegas area, california and michigan. the company was previously publicly traded .. but went private in 2007. nevada regulators may consider grandfathering' existing rooftop solar users into old, more favorable rate structure. commissioner david noble submitted a draft order yesterday calling for reconsideration of the "grandfathering" issue. the commission is expected to decide next week whether to proceed with noble's proposal. commissioners applied the rate hike both to future and current customers using net metering, the process of selling excess solar energy back to the utility. enrollment in the nevada health insurance exchange is topping numbers from the same period last year. federal officials say nearly 78- thousand nevadans have signed up for a plan in the enrollment period that began november first. enrollment closes at the end of this month. the statistics are better than last cycle, when about 5-thousand fewer nevadans signed up. a carson city

proposed ballot measure to gradually raise nevada's minimum wage to 13- dollars an hour can move forward. the judge sided with minimum wage hike supporters and ruled the petition language doesn't need to be changed. opponents included las vegas and reno-sparks chambers of commerce. opposition lawyers said they're not sure whether they'll appeal. the intersection at lake mead boulevard and sloan lane on the valley's east side is much safer tonight. as of this morning ... a new traffic signal is active at the intersection. clark county commissioner marilyn kirkpatrick flipped the switch on the new lights. for a few days .. the lights will blink red at making this a 3-way stop. once drivers are used to seeing them, the county will activate the rotating lights. marilyn kirkpatrick / clark county commissioner "there's 25,000 vehicles that currently travel down lake mead every day so any time you have that volume of course you're going to have situations so this is really making sure you can slow down the traffic that's coming and be sure that

nearly 16 million blood donations are collected in the u.s. each year - helping people on their road to recovery. but what happens when your four legged friend needs the very same service? fox5's abby theodros tells us about a clinic offering blood transfusions for cats and dogs and their latest call for action. nats roger the boxer is a bit of a local celebrity at the vet emergency and critical care unit in las vegas. nats every couple of months he makes a trip to the clinic to help a fellow pup in need. samantha raymond: he has been donating for almost two years samantha raymond

and says she first heard about animal blood transfusions when her last dog was in dire need of the service following a medical procedure. following the transfusion process - she knew she had to pay it forward. raymond: im so glad that we can help others i cant imagine how i would have felt if my last dog could not have gotten the help that he needed from another dog i think its a great program. and im so happy to do it. the program is the las vegas animal blood bank and it gives animals in the valley access to life saving blood products. however- for all the good work that the clinic does - they're is one minor problem... kelly tantalo, technician supervisor: since we are supplying for all of las vegas - on top of ours - the demand is pretty high. so right now we have several blood donors currently but we need a lot more so we're definitely looking for quite a few tantalo says that on a daily basis the clinic conducts several blood or plasma transfusions - assisting cats and dogs with anything from trauma cases to general
