broncos were going to win out right. sports books like the westgate superbook were filled with super fans on sunday..hoping wishing and waiting that their team would make it in to superbowl 50. nats in the afc championship the broncos beat out the patriots who were a three point favorite going into the match. superbook vice president jay kornegay is a denver native and says the win benefits him two- fold. jay kornegay: majority of the tickets and majority of the money came in on new england. believe me the books really needed the broncos this first game. knocked out a lot of parlays going to the second game and the second game it doesn't really matter. kornegay said that about six of every seven superbook bettor that wagered on the afc game put their money on the patriots. many of them left the sportsbook with their wallet a little lighter. jason liberato, patriots: it's sad but theres always next year. and we're the patriots. cant say we're not winners. well they weren't this time around and neither were the cardinals. ath: how are you feeling? christina hayden, cardinals fan from glendale az: "i mean right now? do you see the score? not so good" that was about three quarters into the nfc championship game against carolina. in the end - the panthers who

walking in and out of traffic. an officer confronted him in front of the bellagio. police say the man did not obey commands to surrender. an officer fired at the suspect but missed. a bystander was grazed in the leg. he's in good condition after being treated at u-m-c. another man's clothing was hit... but he was not hurt. the suspect was arrested for several felony charges. this is the first officer-involved shooting of the year. anyone who knows this man or has information on him should call police or crimestoppers at 7-0-2-3-8-5-55-55. a motorcyclist is killed in a crash with a semi-truck and car. it happened around 11-30 today on the i-15 and valley of fire highway near moapa. that's about 45 minutes outside las vegas. nevada highway patrol says the motorcycle rider rear-ended a semi. a mazda was in the other lane next to the semi. troopers have not said how that vehicle was involved. witnesses told them two motorcycles had been racing.

released the cause of the crash. a vacant apartment building used by squatters catches on fire. it happened around 8-30 this morning near sahara and industrial. people living in the area say they heard an explosion before seeing heavy smoke. firefighters were able to control the flames in thirty minutes. las vegas fire and rescue says it started downstairs. a medical oxygen bottle exploded... and the fire spread through the electrical wires. no one was hurt. the estimated cost of damage is 150-thousand dollars. two other vacant buildings in the same area caught on fire last november. those apartment units were also being used by squatters. it's been a warmer sunday than usual... with some winds moving in. les is here with his first look at weather. a couple of fast moving systems will continue to affect our weather the

happening around the valley this week. today -- they're was one at galleria mall. it's to prevent any shortages for blood banks hardest hit by the storm. blood use spikes as treatment and surgeries are put on hold or rescheduled. it helps cancer patients... babies... and burn victims. "united blood services" asks that donors give to help fill the gap. you must be 17 years old... weight at least 110 pounds... and in good health. "we also need to supply our local hospitals here. so with one donation you can save up to three patients lives. you are making a difference." "were asking people to take one hour out of day to come down and donate." there are donor centers around the valley. you can find "united blood services" locations on charleston... craig... and sunset. you can make an appointment... but walk ins are always welcome. a new memory care community will help those in our valley with alzheimer's and dementia. the "ronald reagan memory support suites" officially opens tomorrow. it's on the corner

today -- fox five got a tour of the facility. the project was done by las ventanas of summerlin. they say this will be the only non- profit memory support community in the valley. staff will create a home-like environment between the sixteen units. "our caregivers take on best friend approach where one of things when someone moves in we ask 100 things about somebody, we get to know what makes them tick what they like. what they did in previous life. about family. so as they go through we have something we can bond with them." the facility was named after former president ronald reagan -- who was diagnosed with alzheimer's in 19-94. digging out after the storm. how folks are working to open things up in time for monday on the east coast after a powerful storm dumped several feet of snow. and how many flights were delayed or cancelled putting extra stress on travelers as a result of all the snow. plus -- it was sports galore at the las vegas

millions on the east coast scramble to dig out after a massive winter storm over the weekend. at least seventeen people were killed... thousands of flights were grounded... and traffic was shut down in several large cities. chris welch shows us the clean up being done to prepare for the work week. all along the east coast the diligent hum of digging can be heard... nats and scraping.. nats and of course plowing... crews trying to clear roads. cities like washington, baltimore and philadelphia are working to get metro, train and bus services up and running ahead of the monday morning commute. (mayor jim kenney/ (d) philadelphia) this will be a long- term plowing and cleaning operation. hundreds of people worked around the clock and they will continue to do so. in new york -- even though the travel ban has been lifted and buses and most trains are operational-- officials are still urging residents to stay off the roads. (governor chris christie/(r) news jersey) and so we've really done very well in this storm, and we have no concerns about flooding or damage from flooding any time soon. drivers in at least three states stranded for hours during the peak of the blizzard. while the storm has moved on - officials warn we're not in the clear just yet. (governor larry hogan/(r) maryland ) "it's still very dangerous and there's some, some of our highways look great, it's down to pavement and you might be cruising along at 50 mph and then you're going to hit snow and we're going to have some accidents. we're lucky with no fatalities. we want to keep it that way." in washington, i'm chris welch reporting. the winter storm put a damper on travel plans for those flying out over the weekend.

member of the westgate. the westgate recently spent $13 milion in rennovations to their facility and are expecting even larger crowds for the big game. to national headlines now... there are several leads in the manhunt for three escaped inmates in california. these three men broke out from maximum security jail in santa ana on friday. police say they crawled through a plumbing tunnel... rappelled off the roof... and cut through half inch steel bars. they also used a makeshift rope of towels and bed sheets to reach the street four stories below. the men were facing charges of murder... attempted murder... and kidnapping. "the public should expect the worst if they encounter them." police have not said if they had any outside help... but there was some type of jail incident that caused an inmate check to be delayed by an hour or more. there is a 50- thousand dollar
