metro police are releasing a few more details about friday night's police shooting in front of the bellagio.. including the identity of the man they say started the incident. and there's hope on the horizon for anyone who was already a solar customer before the puc changed the rates.. details on what might be about to change. this is fox5 news at 6. local. las vegas we begin with breaking news at six.. a local high school teacher arrested for having sex with a student. i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. according to the attorney for jillian lafave, the valley high school teacher was taken into custody at the school on the 15th. she's charged with a sex act involving a 16-17 year old. court records show the criminal complaint was filed today-- and that she is out on bail. the clark county school district says lafave is suspended without pay... and they will provide more information tomorrow. a woman is dead and police have a

being held after officers were called to the city's second homicide of the year. fox five's elizabeth watts live near civic center and owens on east ferguson avenue with more on what happened today. officers found the woman's body around ten this morning at a home on ferguson avenue... near civic center and evans. the suspect was in the area.. and police were able to arrest him. police say there may have been a domestic situation between the suspect and victim... but have not said how they are related. there were several people inside the home when it happened -- including children. no one else was hurt. "there were lots of neighbors in area as well happened during day so if anyone did hear or see something come forward call police or stay anonymous with crimestoppers, 385-5555" police say they have been called to this home in the past. police ask that any neighbors

something to call police or stay anonymous with crimestoppers. reporting live ew ffn llv. metro police respond to two crashes today involving pedestrians. the most recent was on las vegas boulevard in font of the mgm grand. it happened just before noon. police say a driver hit a took off. the person was taken to umc .. no injuries. earlier this morning .. a driver hit a man crossing wheelchair on edna avenue -- near desert inn and jones. police say the pedestrian was taken to the he is expected to police believe the driver was not impaired. edna was closed for nearly three hours while police investigated.

people on the causing an officer-involved identified. police say the suspect is khaleal black. they needed help identifying him over the weekend. black was arrested friday night... after police say he aimed a firearm at people near the bellagio fountains. officer george smith confronted black... but he did not listen to the officer's commands to surrender. the officer fired his gun at black but missed. a bystander was grazed in the leg. another bullet went through a man's clothing... but he was not hurt. black was arrested for several felony charges. police say officer smith has been with metro since 2005. he's assigned to the tourist safety division area command. he will be on routine paid administrative leave during the investigation. police say a briefing has not been scheduled yet. angry solar customers packed a p-u-c meeting today to make their voices heard... some are asking for the p-u-c to to reconsider metering rates altogether... others are pushing for

for those who already have solar. fox 5's cyndi lundeberg joins us now in studio with the latest twist to the solar debacle. the public utilites commission met today initially to talk about whether or not to grandfather in existing solar customers to previous rates.... the p-u-c decided to hold off on a decision until february 8th. however n-v energy on the other hand sent us a letter... and they're proposing just that... it now has to be approved by the p-u-c. 'you lied and its wrong" dozens of people packed into the public utilities comission meeting today. 'this is about whats right and whats wrong' solar customers asking the p-u-c to reconsider their decision to hike solar fees... and slash net metering rates approved earlier this month. you will not look in the mirror and say i am responsible and i am taking apart of the a huge defrauding of the american people during that meeting at town square, solar city called a meeting to talk about the very same thing. but those discussions were put on hold after word came that nv

be challenging the grandfather clause. promises made should be honored and i hope you take those into consideration at the hearing, customers pleaded with the p-u-c to stand up to nv energy.... some said they paid upwards of 60 thousand dollars for solar panels.. and now cant pay back their loans. and youre saying to us screw you we dont want you anymore we can do what we want and we can the puc's decision has forced the three largest solar companies in nevada to leave... today they said they would put forth a proposal to grandfather in customers to their previous rates... we were lied to in just the past few days lawyers... and the bureau of consumer protection sent these letters to the p-u-c... urging them to allow for more time in considering the grandfather clause for solar customers. those pushing for more time say it hasn't been long enough for everyone to respond... the p-u-c moved to go forward with their meeting.. and will revisit the

clause february 8th. n-v energy is also involved in a class action lawsuit. the suit includes nearly 15- thousand solar customers. metro police confirm to fox5 the case against singer cris brown has been suspended. the department sites insufficient evidence.. but could be reopened if the police department receives additional information. police say on january second, a woman claimed she was hurt in an altercation involving brown the palms. the victim said she was attending a party inside a hotel room, and place over a cell tried to take a picture of brown. unlv students pledge to stamp violence and sexual assault on campus. it's part of a national anti- violence initiative called "green dot". the jean nidetch women's center at unlv is leading the campaign. students pledge their commitment to take part in bystander
