live from las vegas. your only choice for live local news right now. with emmy award winner john huck. christine maddela. and weather 24/7 with chief meteoroligist ted pretty. this is fox5 news at 5:30. local las vegas. the nearly month-long standoff between the government -- and armed occupiers of a oregon wildlife refuge - turned deadly last night. the protesters include members of the bundy ranching family - here in southern nevada. they were taken into custody - after a fellow militia member was shot and killed - during a confrontation with federal law enforcement. reid binion has more. officials say it started with a traffic stop, and that finicum and bundy's brother - ryan - refused to the bundy ranch claimed on facebook that finicum "had his hands up and was shot 3 times." officials.. haven't commented much beyond saying it's not clear who fired first. ryan bundy suffered minor injuries -- finicum died at the he had been one of the most outspoken members of the armed group... ...that took over the refuge earlier this month to protest federal land policies. a carson city judge has overturned a conviction of "driving under the influence" - for a nevada assemblyman. the nevada appeal reports the judge found that a blood test wasn't admissible evidence against democratic lawmaker richard carrillo. the decision was based on a crime lab technician's testimony that she didn't control all stages of the blood test that found carrillo's blood alcohol content was above the legal limit. deputies say carrillo was found asleep in the driver's seat of his car last february with a loaded gun in his pocket - after leaving a bar near the capitol during the legislative session. the ruling cancels out penalties including 42 hours of community service and 800- dollars in fines. a recent at&t upgrade is causing some 911 calls from cell phones in mesquite... to be rerouted to las vegas. the spectrum of st. george reports that when at&t recently switched from 3g to 4g lte...
