live with the latest from police metro police say a man and a teenage girl were shot and are in critical condition... they have reason to believe those involved knew each other and this was not random. crime scene tape cordons off homes in a gated summerlin community for hours... around 4:40 wednesday morning there was a shooting inside a home on garden glen way.. officers arrived to find two victims suffering gunshot wounds... they were rushed to umc. detectives started processing the scene and worked afternoon... officer michael 23:41 our detectives additional evidence looking for additional to this crime. taken off by the time officers arrived.. a gun was found lying in the grass in street... this gun was crime.. one neighbor walking her dogs through the park during the day says her crime alerts show her home invasions are up in the area... unrike weding /lives nearby 5:47 its so scary its such a nice neighborhood you know everyone

clark county assessor property records... the home is owned by janeen hinden- and the hinden family trust- and was christmas eve. luxor hotel guests are now allowed back into their rooms after a suspicious substance evacuation this afternoon. they were asked to leave after room service discovered the suspicious substance..which was found not to pose a threat. fox 5's ophelia young is in front of the hotel and ophelia - were told it was a liquid. right but police wont tell us what the liquid was or what else was found in that room. all we know is they've deemed it non-hazardous. here in front of the hotel - valet is still shut down as firetrucks stand by in case anything happens. so the scene is not completely clear yet - but yes three floors that were evacuated - the

reopened for guests who four about 4 hours this afternoon - were asked to stay out for their own safety. for the meantime - im told luxor is saying sorry to evacuated guests with free exhibit and spa passes. guests i've spoken with says it wasnt the hotels fault and there was plenty to do here on the strip anyway.

metro says they will let us know - if this turns into a criminal investigation. police in north las vegas need your help tonight finding a missing and endangered man. 50 year old thomas branklin was last seen on when he dropped his wife off near mlk and carey. branklin's family says he suffers from seizures and needs his medication. he's described as being 6-foot-one and around 160 pounds. he was wearing a long sleeve blue shirt and blue jeans. branklin was driving a silver mercedes with nevada plates. if you think you have seen this man ... call north las vegas police. two people are to to save a woman heavy smoke could be seen town coming from

washington and rancho. when firefighters arrived just before nine they found thick black smoke and flames coming through they located a woman who they of good samaritans. "a passerby was house and says he saw really black smoke coming out of the house, turned around and said he saw a lady sitting in a chair in a back yard inindated with smoke. him and another gentleman lifted her over the cyclone fence and brought her out to the street and he says about that time flames started coming out the windows." the woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. she told firefighters that she woke up to smoke. at six, what she told firefighters she did last night that may have contributed to the fire. a dog died in a fire that started in a backyard shed. clark county firefighters were called to this mobile home near christy and lake mead at around

a local 5th grader is honored during a lunch assembly today... after saving his friend who was choking. two weeks ago gabriel wallace and his friend kyle sucalidto were eating lunch. kyle started to choke on rice... and gabriel sprung into action the hemlich it saved his life. i feel like i always really knew it or i just saw from tv me i thanked him a bunch. today... steve schorr.... the school's name sake and the clark county fire department honored gabriel with a hero award.... along with a vip pass to shark reef for the both of them. toss to weather we'll see highs in the mid-70s through

the sheriff says he believes the first deputy was shot - quote - because he was wearing a uniform. today's tragedy shares similarities to the shooting of two police officers here in las vegas nearly two years ago. they were attacked while eating lunch at a ci-ci's pizza the city of ferguson, missouri is facing a legal battle with the federal government. the justice department is taking the city to court - because it failed to accept an agreement improving the way police and courts treat poor people and minorities. city officials - citing the high costs - voted to amend the agreement. the tentative agreement was reached last month, after the d-o-j found ferguson police were discriminating against black citizens. ferguson's mayor says amending the agreement is not too much to ask. the field of republican presidential hopefuls is dwindling. at the same time some candidates are getting the shot in the arm their campaigns desperately need. kristin fisher has more from washington after spending more than seventy days

from the vandenberg air force base in california. the rocket is carrying a payload for the national reconnaissance office - one of the country's intelligence agencies. this is the u-l-a's second launch this year - and its 105-th successful launch since the company was formed in december 2006. today - the united states got one step closer to a true driverless car. regulators have long insisted the vehicles still need an actual driver - someone who can take control by grabbing the steering wheel and slamming on the brakes. this week - regulators gave google the go- ahead to build a car without any of that. no steering wheel. no accelerator. no brakes. states can still pass laws that require vehicles to have those things - but federal regulators have opened the way for - perhaps - faster development of truly driverless cars. google for years has been telling safety regulators that its self- driving cars are safer than cars driven by humans. they are still

school student claims a new prom dress code unfairly targets female students. prom tickets go on sale in two weeks, but students at ceres high must first sign a prom contract agreeing to leave the prom if dressed inappropriately. leigh martinez spoke to a student who says she wants school officials to lighten up. this is the dress that almost got nada abdo kicked out of last year's prom. "you can barely see through the black, but i was still told to cover up." this is what the dress looked like on her. she says ceres high school makes students sign a "prom contract" outlining the dress code.
