and love was in the air this valentine's day.. how many people were tying the knot this weekend... and how scorned lovers marked the holiday too. this is fox5 news at 10. local. las vegas. the first in the west caucuses are coming right around the corner.. the democrats caucus first-- and both candidates were here stumping in las vegas today.. i'm elizabeth watts. thanks for joining us. fox5's abby theodros was at bernie sanders event this afternoon and joins us live in the newsroom with the details. nevada's caucus is coming up on saturday so many candidates are making their rounds to the silver state - explaining why they would make the best choice for president. today bernie sanders stayed true to his platform: bringing wealth back to the middle class. bernie sanders: we are going to create a government that works for all of us. not just the the one percent. thank you all very much! staying true to his anti-wall street, pro-middle class

police say he was behind the wheel of a white windowless van that struck and killed two-year- old evelyn green in a neighborhood. officers arrested garcia-martinez on friday. he's currently at the las vegas detention center... his first court date is not yet set. a gunman is still on the loose after a shooting outside an adult entertainment business. it happened around 12-30 this morning at "deja vu adult emporium" near tropicana and arville. police say two men were fighting outside the business when one of them fired a gun. the victim was taken to u-m-c. his injuries do not appear life- threatening police say no one has been arrested at this time. anyone with information about this incident can call police or crimestoppers 7- 0-2-3-8-5-55-55. love was in the air today... and so were the clouds... there was an overcast start to valentines day... les is here with his first look at weather. clouds moved into

"when i hear elvis i think vegas and how many people can say they got married by elvis from legends in concert so i think that's pretty neat " the knot or renewed their vows received a photo with elvis... tickets to the high chance to win a romantic vacation. it was a busy weekend for love in the "wedding world" this year. couples said "i do" all across the valley. valentine's day is one of the most popular dates for wedding. the clark county marriage license bureau issued more than 12- hundred licenses over the weekend. every hundreth couple was given a rose with their certificate. "vegas weddings" performed more than forty ceremonies today... whether it's those who use fast lane drive- thru or a wedding of up to 100 guests. the day of love isn't the only popular day for newlyweds. many couples also love the allure of "specialty dates" like leap day. more than thirty ceremonies are already booked for that day. "noah's animal house" helps pets of domestic violence victims. we're told they received more than 14-hundred dollars in donations since saturday. it will help restock the dog food stolen from their food shed. more than a thousand pounds of dry food including a special diet food for an animal with special needs was taken. noah's animal house is a home for pets of clients from the shade tree. the shelter says they're humbled by the community's

two north las vegas police k-nine officers will receive bulletproof vests. the dogs were in the running for the "20-16 national k-nine photo contest". it's to raise awareness for law enforcement needs. k-nine officer boris reached sixth place to win a k-nine storm patrol swat kevlar vest. the three-year- old pup is the newest rookie to the department. k-nine bobby will also get his own vest thanks to a donation. he's been with the department since 2009. the bulletproof vests cost around 25-hundred dollars. how low can you gas prices slowly here in the valley paying two dollars or more. now one gas station is helping drivers save some money at the pump! u-s gas near west tropicana and jones set their gas prices to one dollar and 69 cents a gallon. the special ran from noon to four p-m. "gas buddy" showed the average price at several gas stations around

candidates stopping through. fox5's abby theodros was at bernie sanders event this afternoon and joins us live in the newsroom with the details. senator sanders spent an hour talking to an animated crowd of supporters today at bonanza high school. he talked about his plans for reform if he were to become commander in chief. outlined his plans to reform the criminal justice system and close the wage gap by raising the minimum wage to $15 dollars an hour. sanders also touched on making college tuition free and lowering interst on student loans. its a idea that caught the attention of mom to be: erica greison. who says her husband hasn't even started his program for nursing school and is already facing serious student loans. erica greison: "he is trying to go to school to become a nurse and its incredibly hard because its incredibly expensive hes not even done with his prerec and he is already almost 10,000 in debt really here for the bit about free college."
