stabbed 5 times with a machete. it happened during a 9 hour long stand off last week. fox 5's ophelia young is outside of metro's south central area command where she got to see nicky for the first time since the incident. nicky seemed like he was ready to get back to work today - but hes still waiting for his many stitches to come out - this a picture him immediately after the surgery - nicky was sent into an apartment last thursday after a barricaded suspect refused to come out. witnesses had called in that suspect tolavius timmons after hearing gunshots and yelling from his apartment. police first tried sening in a 5 thousand dollar robot weighing 600 pounds - which they say timmons knocked over and broke. after a night of negotiation, metro' send in nicky.. metro believes timmons stabbed nicky with a machete 5 times - they didnt hear one sound from nicky. "in fact he was trying to go back in

by the collar i was taking him out to get him out of the way of the swat guys and i looked down i had blood all over my hands and is that from the suspect or you and i looked down and he was bleeding all over the place." nicky was taken to a nearby animal hospital and underwent surgery immediately. fortunately the cuts- according to nicky's handler - are not deep enough to cause any permanent damage. the suspect timmons was supposed to make his first court appearance today but he refused to come. he is demanded by the judge to appear tomorrow at 8. reporting live. in the time being timmons faces 3 felonies including mistreatment of a police dog - a crime punishable up to 4 years in prison. the first in the west caucus for the democrats is saturday. fox 5's abby theodros spoke with bernie sanders today who is making his plea to nevadans. in a new cnn poll - 48 percent of likely caucus

burglars ransack her henderson home.. i'm john huck. i'm christine maddela. police say this happened early this morning to a 72-year old woman in sun city anthem. here's a look at where this crime took place.. it was at a home on garden city avenue just off sun city anthem boulevard. henderson police say this morning two men broke into her home at 2:15 ... once inside they found the woman .. tied her up .. and ransacked her home. at some point, police say one of the men also showed a firearm and was demanding valuables from the woman. the men ran and are still on the loose ... the woman did receive minor injuries. police say she did not get a good look at the men and could not give a good description. when we spoke with police, they had a message for everyone. michelle french / henderson police department "one thing henderson police would like to remind residents is to take steps to protect their home and loved ones. make sure your doors are locked, make sure that you've secured your windows using wooden dowels to protect your sliding glass doors
