also involved locations in las vegas and henderson. i'm john huck. i'm christine maddela. this morning, the fbi's public corruption squad, the irs and the department of interior's office of inspector general's office simultaneously converged on three local targets. an office building on sunset near durango.... a home in henderson off college and us- 95... and the department of interior's bureau of reclamation office in boulder city. we have team coverage with fox5's les krifaton and ophelia young... to explain the connection between the three locations-- and the reason why investigators were there. we begin with les in henderson. this is the home of the financial management director of the bureau of reclamation. law enforcement including the fbi and the internal revenue service raided this home looking for evidence into what may relate to an audit involving the

this was the scene thursday morning outside the home of fredrick leavitt, the financial management director of the bureau of reclamation. he also holds titles as the accountant for the department besides the one here. we spoke with people inside those homes. one person we talked to around the corner from this home said they are renters, a person at the of the home said leavitt no longer owns the property. and while we connected at least one person --rick leavitt-- to all three locations... it's not clear how many people were seized documents

spoke with decline an on camera interview out of fear of retaliation. but the consistent response from people in the area is that whoever did this was trying to send a message. this home or what's left of it is now the center of two fire investigations. first - an arson - in november - that became the scene of a grizzly murder. mario jimenez was found dead inside the home. other family members narrowly survived including the man who was seen in front of the house bound and bleeding. inside two women burned and bound and a child left all alone. today - the clark county coroner's office confirmed that one of those victims - angelica jimenez - died from her injuries. while fox5 was near the home - a friend of jimenez drove by - and said even she didnt feel safe passing by the home. nats that could be because of a new investigation officials have opened a new case - before they could close the first one.. tim szymanski, lvfr pio: we went to the same house again last night just a little after 11. heavy flames and smoke showing on

last night the same house caught fire again. las vegas fire and rescue is investigating and they say its too early to determine a cause or link to two fires but nats door knock neighbors are telling a different story. people in the area said they've seen lots of cars near that home. multiple neighbors under the impression that the family was linked to the mexican drug cartel. while metro police would not confirm that information - word from neighbors was consistent: this home was a target. heavy flames and smoke showing on arrival. house was boarded up. empty tim szymanski, lvfr pio: neighbors say that there were people going in and investigation. las vegas fire and rescue is also investigating both fires. reporting live in the studio abby theodros fox5 news local las vegas. no one was hurt in last night's fire according to investigators. the man accused of attacking a metro police k-9 with a machete... faced a judge for the first time since the incident.

"he was barricaded overnight, the amount of resources that were spent trying to get somebody out of this apartment, if there were in there with the defendent were astronomical, he went so far as to kick over the very expensive robot metro uses, and low and behold he then ends up stabbing a k-9 officer" the suspect is tolavius timmons.. the judge ended up increasing his bail from 50 to 75- thousand dollars. police arrested him one week ago - after police say he barricading himself from officers during a nine hour standoff.. only to then attack k-9 officer nicky with a machete. nicky is now recovering and his handler hopes to have him return to work soon. auto theft is on the rise in the northeast valley. metro police say the area is not a bad or unsafe are to live in ... but more people have been stealing vehicles. in fact, people who live in the northeast have reported 130 auto thefts in five weeks beginning at the new year. police say many of

with less than two days until the democratic caucus .. the candidates are in the valley. and senator bernie sanders made a surprise stop a few minutes ago. this was at a culinary and bartenders union protest in front of sunrise hospital. both sanders and hillary clinton have been fighting for union votes and endorsements. the culinary union has said it will not be endorsing a candidate until after the caucus. local g-o-p supporters are also working to get people out to their caucus night next tuesday. we caught up with a group of senator ted cruz volunteers hitting the streets in support of their choice for president. their goal is to get as many supporters of their candidate as possible to the caucus and sway some of the undecided voters. "we're covering the houses, we're handing out brochures, we're talking to people.

will resume shortly let's get back to the story we brought you at the top of the newscast. three federal raids today involving an accounting office, a henderson home, and the bureau of reclamation. fox5's ophelia young tells us more about the link between all three... a las vegas cpa named frederick leavitt... who was part of a firm hired to conduct an audit of a contract involving the hoover dam. "i saw metro cars outside the building i saw officers making their way inside." other than police bringing in some backpacks and suitcase into this office building off west sunset near durango things were business as usual on the first and 2nd floors. it was the 3rd floor fbi, irs and metro were interested in - ll bradford, cpas. there is one person that connects ll bradford to a henderson home and a bureau of reclamation office in boulder city - both also raided the same day... a man named

an accountant with the us department of interior... leavitt is also a director of ll bradford cpas... we've found out - he is also the director of vestin, a realty mortgage company and board member of vestin groups - that company is located on the second floor of the same building. "do you know if the companies on the second and 3rd floor are connected i believe its goign on on the 3rd floor i dont know what the relation would be to anything on the second floor so you dont think theres anything on the 2nd floor all the commotion is on the 3rd. as far as i know yes." fox 5 also walked into vestin's office on the 2nd floor - the receptionist had no knowledge of a raid as of early afternoon.... but in calls to the office another worker told us they had no comment. a terrifying scene unfolded in front of tourists today in hawaii near the u-s-s arizona memorial at pearl harbor. at least three out

he home of a brother of one of the san bernardino shooters. f-b-i officials were seen today at the corona, california, home of syed raheel farook. an f-b-i spokesperson says agents executed a search warrant as part of its investigation, but did not elaborate. no one was arrested. it appears las vegas sands chairman and ceo sheldon adelson will be back in court for several days next week. a judge today said adelson can be to 49 hours by lawyers for a former macau casino executive who claims he was wrongly fired in 2010. las vegas sands says it will appeal barker's ruling to the nevada supreme court, which has already decided 11 pretrial issues in the case. attorneys for adelson, las vegas sands and sands china limited have been questioning former sands china chief jacobs for days. scheduled to
