donald trump wins the nevada republican caucus... landing nearly half of the votes. i'm john huck. i'm christine maddela. crowds went wild tonight at his headquarters, when the news was announced just after nine. according to the nevada g-o-p, donald trump got 46 percent of the vote tonight. he told crowds the win is something he'll be celebrating for a long time. here's a look at how the top three candidates did here in nevada. marco rubio came in second place, with a little more than 24 percent of the vote. and ted cruz right behind him with about 19 percent. we have team coverage for you tonight on nevada's caucus: our crews are at each of the major camps. we'll also tell you about some of the problems caucus-goers experienced tonight. but first, we're checking in with fox5's elizabeth watts live at treasure island... where trump gave his victory speech about an hour ago.

headquarters supporters came in around eight nine o'clock he was projected the winner and right before ten he came out for a quick victory speech and they went wild nats of celebration this is trumps third straight win after new hampshire and south carolina giving him even more momentum heading into super tuesday a week from tonight... and he told his audience of supporters that this country will be made great again trump had a commanding lead with 45 percent of the vote it looks like about 20 percentage points ahead of rubio followed by cruz and a lot of analysts were saying when candidates drop out those votes would go to cruz or rubio trump says tonight there's evidence that's not happening if they could just take the other candidates and add

take a look at some of the pictures from fox5 viewers on social media: one person said the people repeatedly yelled "take our country back". one sign reads "president trump put up that wall". another reads "trump 2016, make america great again". people on both sides of the aisle took offense to the display. no word on who the people are or where they came from. caucus organizers are meticulously counting ballots tonight. but how was the experience for caucus goers? fox 5 abby theodros was at a couple of locations today and tells us how the experiences varied. it depends on where you caucused. weve heard of complaints about long lines and ballot shortages but some went smoothly also. durango high school had mostly satisfied attendees. doors opened promptly at 5 and people largely were able to caucus in thirty minutes. one caucus goer at durango high said

from years past- is the turn out. take a listen to what he had to say. we caucused last time in 2012 and there was maybe 30 people and today is just crazy its such a huge difference. vo: we've mentioned some of the complaints at other caucus locations. one lady at palo verde said no one bothered to check her is before handing her a ballot. meanwhile other sites completely ran out. but officials with the states republican party say that speaks to the high volume of attendees. party organizers say about 42 thousand people registered for this caucus. despite getting low numbers in nevada's caucus... doctor ben carson says he's staying in the presidential race. i know the pundits and the political

surveillance video shows three men who broke into and ransacked a home on the valley's northeast side. tonight police are hoping you can help find the burglars on tape. fox5's les krifaton joins us live from our newroom with the story and a request from metro for anyone who falls victim to a burglary. surveillance camera video has been a great tool to help police solve crime but it needs to be used in the right context according to metro. our cops want you to know when it comes to surveillance camera video give it to them first before putting it on social media. sometimes social media helps out allot and sometimes it doesn't no question this video of a burglary

valley is going to make great evidence when these perps are arrested. in this case as you can see from this video these guys took their time looking for stuff to steal. the thieves are pretty brazen. they go inside, they begin to ransack the home looking under couch cushions and drawers they ended up finding and taking both jewelry and and undisclosed amount of cash. the suspects thought they would get away with it after stealing the camera. but police say what they didn't know... the camera was connected to either a hard drive or a cloud. the last image... a close up of one of the suspects posing in front of the camera. metro pio michael rodriguez says this footage is a great tool for detectives obviously we can get great video or at least still photos of suspects and it works great for evidence. but there is a caveat to home surveillance footage. rodriguez says putting it out there on the internet on social media is all about timing and all about doing it after

and used the video as part of their investigation-- first. crime fighting doesn't take place on the internet. it takes place with our detectives with our officers who do old fashioned police work and use social media as a tool often guys like these three target homes in the same neighborhood. putting video on social media before cops can use it could scare away the suspects making them harder to catch. police know that a burglary is a violation of your personal space. they want to make sure that the evidence a home security camera gives them is used properly. lets show the faces of these three to see if we can find them. one suspect is a black male mid 20's about 150 pounds wearing his hair is shoulder-lengh dreadlocks the second suspect is a black male early 20's about 6 foot 1 also about 150 pounds and wears his hair in short twists. the third suspect also in his early 20's is about 5'8 weighs well over 200 pounds and was last seen

a woman was alone, when three people broke in her home. now, police are looking for justice. "this is not acceptable in our community. we have people forcibly busting into houses in evening hours, early morning hours, terrorizing innocent citizens, this is not acceptable." this happened around ten-30 last night, at a home nellis. luckily, police arrived at the home while the suspects were there and they say the to call 9-1-1 during police tracked rescue her. a man was shot this afternoon... and metro says he wasn't alone when "i think our best information is going to come from the other person in sure if there's involved, and if he's going to be forthcoming with information. just before three-thirty. witnesses told police they heard gunshots, and saw a man and woman run away from the car. metro says the other person in the car hasn't given a lot of information about what happened to the victim. the coroner will release the man's name. metro is investigating another homicide that happened around two-30, near nellis and craig. police say the victim got in a fight with several people in the parking lot of nellis suites... possibly over drugs. one of those people shot the victim, and he later died at u-m-c. police say the victim does know the suspect... 21- year-old colton brantano. he was last seen driving a black volkswagen jetta with gold rims and an arizona license plate. police would also like to talk to jared busch and sherri esquibel, who they consider people of interest. if you have information on any of these crimes, call crime stoppers at 702- 385-55-55. a woman fell 15 stories through a laundry chute

morning. and now, police say her death was a tragic accident. kalli medina- brown's friends say the 26-year- old was visiting las vegas from california. she was celebrating her birthday with her husband at the d- hotel. police haven't said how medina-brown ended up in the chute, and the case was first investigated as a homicide. her friends say the legal secretary was responsible and mature, and they're horrified to hear what happened. "worell: "i just ask god that she didnt hurt that she wasn't scared or she didnt feel alone or helpless" " waiting on results to determine how medina-brown died. lawyers based out of las vegas and they are investigating the case on their own, and determining what the family wants to do next. now fox5 weather 24..7. with chief meteorologist ted pretty we'll get a little warmer on

woman was able to escape from the people who kidnapped her last week. and now, we're getting a look at the suspects.

gilbert, and sherman leemuis in connection to friday's crime. police say the victim was held against her will at a home near cheyenne and fort apache. the suspects led investigators on a chase that lasted several hours, and went across the valley. the f-b-i put 11 religious leaders behind bars... in a huge move against the fundamentalist church of jesus christ of latter day saints. raids were conducted in hildale utah, and colorado city, arizona. the f-l-d-s members were arrested on food stamp fraud charges... and also conspiracy to commit money laundering. court documents show the group stamp proceeds from people who needed them, to leaders. one of those jeffs, brother to warren jeffs... the man the church lyle jeffs has been running the church, while warren serves a life sentence for sexually abusing underage girls. hildale has seen its share of struggles in the last year. this is the town where a devastating flash flood rushed through a road

sweeping away two cars full of people. 13 women and children were killed; three young boys were rescued. it was a tragedy that brought attention to the isolation hildale is in, over its polygamist community. a performer in the cirque du soleil show "love" is recovering, after a stage accident during a rehearsal. a fox5 viewer tells us the performer fell through an opening in the stage, but cirque has not confirmed the circumstances of the accident. the injured performer was taken to u-m-c and is stable. "love" is revamping its show, and its set to debut this thursday. employees protested outside the hotel today... hoping to get donald trump's attention while he's in town. dozens of workers held signs saying "no contract, no peace." these workers want to join the culinary union... saying it will give them fair wages and benefits. they told us they are confident trump will help them get negotiations started. it's world spay day! the animal foundation is giving us a reminder about how vital this is for all our furry friends. "it's really important to note that spaying or neutering is the key to preventing unnecessary deaths in animal shelters and preventing unwanted liters from coming here to the animal shelter in the first place" the spay party was a success. the animal foundation performed four hundred free spay nueter surgeries today. their goal is to save all treatable animals by the end of the year 20-20. for a spay or nueter service at the animal foundation... cats start at thirty
