police say the pair hit was crossing snyder elementary and they were not in a cross walk. breaking news tonight. burglary led to gunfire... and a suspect killed. it happened on victory road - near boulder highway and twain. that's where fox five's miguel martinez-valle is live. miguel, you just got new information from police on scene. the shot was fired just a few hours ago and as you can see the scene is still very much active... police say the shooting was a result of an

burglary, they say property owners of one of the homes in this neighborhood found a man who didnt belong there inside the house... they then got into some sort of confrontation which resulted in the property owners shooting the intruder. he was then taken to sunrise hospital where he died... neighbors of the area say they aren't surprised by the situation. " ive been here about two years, and this neighborhood has really gone down hill. my lease is up next month and im moving" according to some of the neighbors i spoke to they have had things stolen from their homes themselves... other neighbors tell me the house in question was empty, and had a squatter problem. they say they have seen homeless

terrified because her daughter was robbed on her way home from school. she says the young girl's smart phone was stolen. that may be why she was targeted. fox5's abby theodros joins us live from the newsroom... with the story. i spoke to the family today and they are understanably upset. makayla the high school junior that was robbed says she was so scared she didnt even go to school. makayla: i was feeling really terrified and scared and i really didn't know what to do. sierra vista high school junior makayla was walking home alone from school when two men came from behind and cornered her. she had no where to go. makayla: one got in front of me. one stayed behind me. the one behind me

the brake marks start only about 10 feet before that circle - the driver seemed to have seen her at the last second. the supreme court nomination. that's the word from nevada governor brian sandoval. a few months ago when we asked about the possibility of him running as vice president... he said no because in his words... he loves being governor of nevada. in a statement, he says quote "earlier today, i notified the white house that i do not wish to be considered at this time for possible nomination to the supreme court of the united states." he said the notion of being considered is beyond humbling and that he's grateful to have been mentioned. while sandoval is moderate for being a republican... he was not on the list of names hillary clinton had in mind before hearing his announcement today. now there's been some talk that the president would maybe nominate the republican governor of nevada.
