8-14 chris billman, sat next to monkey owner: next thing i know he says 'i have something really cool here' he said 'i got a monkey' and he lit it up with a flash light and showed it to us. a 7 inch service monkey tucked away under its owner's shirt. chris billman sat next to the pair - he says the flight crew had no idea. chris billman: it was about half way through the flight that they pulled him aside and talked to him about it. the stewardesses kind of caught on that it was there because he had a bulge in his shirt and you could kind of smell it fox5 reached out to frontier - they say service animals are welcome on flights but this passenger broke policy when he brought his monkey on board without letting anyone know. they also say he refused to show the necessary documentation nats over at pet kingdom - this marmoset...is similar in size and weight to the monkey in question. its care taker says interest in buying a monkey - whether its service related or not - has skyrocketed over the years... 57-1:01 lu lu valencia: they want it for a birthday present, to cuddle with the monkey to play with the monkey.. but valencia says they dont sell monkeys anymore. valencia: they dont take care of the monkeys the way they're supposed to.

people say hes in a cage but we take them out every day when there arent people. he has all the care nats flight fox 5 also reached out to t-s-a about the ordeal...they say the monkey went through a screening and was cleared...its up to the airline to check the passengers bags before boarding. i reached out to metro today about any possible repercussions for the passenger..they told me no because there was nothing criminal because the passenger eventually provided the proper documentation. how did the airline noti there was a monkey on board> the animal must be harnessed during the flight. a frontier spokesperson tells us a flight frontier spokesperson tells us a flight attendant noticed the monkey under the passenger's shirt. a preschool is shut down after a child was found unresponsive and dehydrated in the

workers at kidz kidz kidz in the southern highlands forgot about the child and left him outside in triple digit temperatures. fox5s eric hilt read through the report on the incident and has more on why the preschools lost its license there have been employees here at kidz kidz kidz today but as you can see the doors are locked and those workers told me they are not talking about the incident or having their license revoked... but we got a copy of the investigation report from the nevada department of public and behavioral health incident, where a 20 month old was left outside alone in temperatures higher than 100 degrees the hold was found unresponsive, dehydrated and with burns on his feet. the child is okay now, but kidz kidz kidz preschool had its license suspended and revoked... there's no word on when or if it will reopen or if the school will appeal the decision. to find out if your child's childcare facility has a history of violations you can

public and behavioral health according to the report - workers waited 16 minutes to call 911... and nearly 45 minutes to call the child's parents police are trying to find a suspect... involved in at least eight slot machine burglaries - since may. it's happening at convenience stores in the northwest valley - and north las vegas. metro says in several incidents - the suspect is seen prying off the front panel of the machine using a crow bar. box and runs off to a dark colored four door sedan - possibly a toyota corolla - which is missing the front right hubcap. in other events - the person - is seen driving a 4- door sedan similar to a dodge intrepid. if you have information call police or crimestoppers - at 702-385-55-55. a person is dead - after a scooter crashed into a restaurant. it happened around 9-30 last night. police say the scooter was going north on rancho - just past washington when

road - onto a sidewalk - hitting the building for "chicago dogs". the driver was thrown to the ground. the 53-year-old was then taken to u-m-c and declared dead. no word on what caused the driver to lose control. an apology in court today... from a man guilty of killing his own father. "i just wanted to say, i'm sorry for what i did and i'm going to use my time in prison to become a better person, a better son. " eugene tshiyombo was sentenced to 10-to-25 years in prison. he'll be eligible for parole after 10 years he was arrested in december - after his 68 year old father was found shot to death at a family home in henderson. police say the two got into an argument the night before. a burglary suspect breaks into a house in henderson - and is shot by the homeowner. that's according to police - who say it happened in the guard-gated "hillsboro heights" community - near valle verde and windmill. the home's security alarm was triggered

night. the homeowner fired one shot.. grazing the intruder's head.. the suspect was able to run away.. before police took the person into custody a short time later. locked up and empty. that's how students at a local gaming school found the place when they went in for classes this week. students say they were given no warning that gold star gaming on spring mountain near torrey pines was about to close. they arrived to find the furniture moved out... and several of them say they paid money that they haven't gotten back. a paper posted on the front door says to call the nevada commission on post secondary education. we called them twice and left messages... but no word yet. espite a major effort by nearly two-thousand firefighters... a southern california wildfire is continuing to threaten thousands of homes tonight. at this point, the fire has burned nearly eight- thousand acres east of los angeles. and - mother nature is not expected to help the firefight any time soon. hot temperatures are in the forecast...along with strong, 10 to

predicted up to 30 miles an hour. jonathan hunt has the latest from los angeles. working to snuff out and contain fierce, wind-fueled flames... from above: a fleet of aircraft... and, on the ground: an army of more than seventeen- hundred firefighters. their combined efforts resulting in major progress wednesday... against a wildfire burning at least twelve square miles in southern california's san bernardino about an hour east of los angeles. by mid-day wednesday fire crews had the fire sixty-four percent contained. however, despite the progress.... the fire - burning since sunday - still remains a threat to some fifty-three- hundred homes in the area. bribiescas says: "it is a wind-driven fire - the fuel component that we have is very...what we call flashy. and by flashy, means that it is prone to ignition very, very quickly." damm says: "the smoke is horrible. it's really hard to breathe. it's

asthma." meantime, farther north - the golden state's 20-day old wildfire - burning near big sur - has now grown to more than 107 square miles. but, thousands of firefighters are on scene working that fire...which is now fifty percent contained. and, at this point a number of evacuation orders in that area are being lifted... allowing hundreds of residents to return home - including some displaced for weeks. snow says: "they dropped the mandatory evacuation down to a warning and so the minute they did that we moved back home." a spectacle today... in new york city... as a man uses suction cups - to scale the exterior of trump tower. the climber had a backpack and used a harness and rope to help fasten himself to the side of the 58- story manhattan skyscraper. police blocked his path by breaking out windows and putting a window-washing

grabbed the climber and pulled him inside. no word yet on his motives. an airbag was set up below - in case he fell. baltimore's police department has been in the spotlight since the death of freddie gray, the african-american man fatally injured in police custody last year. that death prompted a department of justice review of the entire department--and the report outlines what the doj calls a pattern of violating the constitution and anti-discrimination laws. emily schmidt has more on the findings. there is no mention of freddie gray or his death in the department of justice's 163-page baltimore police review... in fact, the doj says problems didn't happen overnight. these violations have deeply eroded the mutual trust between bpd and the community it served. the doj found baltimore police routinely used excessive force, retaliated against people engaging in

protected expression, and made unconstitutional stops, searches, and arrests--especially of african americans. one man was stopped 30 times in less than 4 years with none of the stops resulting in a citation or a criminal charge. the review looked at six years of data and conversations with groups all across baltimore, finding deficiencies in police training...policies... supervision and accountability. we know that our citiziens are outraged. baltimore's police commissioner says there's no tolerance for officers who are racist, sexist, discriminatory or biased...and promis baltimore's mayor estimates it could cost 5 to ten million dollars a year. the findings are challenging to hear, but let me be clear, i never sugar-coat our problems. the doj will be talking with the community and law enforcement about potential reforms... looking to rebuild a trust it says baltimore police broke. i'm emily schmidt, reporting.

were originally charged after freddie gray died--three of six were acquitted in a trial, and then baltimore prosecutors dropped all charges against the three remaining officers. we're now learning that a ten-year-old boy was decapitated - when he was killed on a water slide in kanas. that's according to the associated press - who spoke to a person familiar with the investigation. caleb schwab - the son of a kansas lawmaker - was in a raft with two adults when he was killed on the 168-foot tall ride. it's billed as the tallest in the world. the other two passenger were treated for head injuries. the water slide is now closed for the rest of the season - but the park was back open today - in a limited capacity. some guests said they had reservations about coming today. "yeah, definiely. i was just kind of nervous about coming at all or which rides we'd go on just .. i don't know, being a littl hesitant i guess. " "some people take it

come because of the event." the water slide is named "verruckt" - which is german for insane. at least two people who rode it in the past say shoulder straps snapped or popped off during the time they rode it. no one was injured when a small plane flipped on a runway at san diego area airport. the pilot walked away unscathed. the aircraft he was flying in flipped over at the montgomery field in san diego. according to witnesses... the pilot was trying to land when the the pilot received no medical attention and was able to get out of the cessna without help from emergency crews. police to the west are now using drones to fight crime. three officers in modesto, california are behind the operations of a pilot program that's put these crime fighting vehicles in the sky. in black and white paint, the department's logo covers this unmanned aerial vehicle or uav.... that was launched in april. it's already being used to check out crime scenes and even chase after

mullins says: 'if i was a criminal in the city of modesto, i would not want these flying above me while im running from the police or committing crime.' there are some limitations to the uavs. for instance they will not fly higher than 400 feet and can only go up for about 25 minutes at a time. the more successful the program, the more likely they will be to add to the drone's fleet. there's new evidence the first americans migrated south from alaska via the pacific coast - rather than a route hundreds along the rocky mountains. the colonization of the americas began after people arrived from siberia - crossing an ancient land bridge into alaska. huge ice sheets largely blocked the way south. but a gap in western canada was long thought to provide an ice- free corridor for migration into the continent. however - other research suggested that pathway appeared too late to account for early american settlements. that left the pacific coast route - as an alernative with

international have teamed to give one teen the trip of lifetime. to reveal the trip - they threw her a the royal surprise party in front of 16 thousand people. all there for a make-a-wish event at the sands expo center. jordyn preston was diagnosed with liver cancer last year in june. jordyn is obsessed with everything british so make-a-wish is sending her to london! her surprise party came with a sparkler cake... queens guards and tons of british flags. she says she had hunch about what was going on. "about two week ago i was like 'i wonder!' i mean i'm not expecting it but i'm just like kind of wondering if that might happen and my mom couldn't really even look at me. she's like 'no, that's not going to happen' so i kind of had an idea but i was still really surised." jordyn's will live the tourist dream on her trip. she plans to visit big ben... the london eye and a famous coffee shop. you can help out our community... by donating
