history... and what's in store for the future. tonights implosion of the monte caro wing comes two months after the monaco tower came tumbling down. the riviera is a historic landmark... and has been for the vegas community for 60 years. another one... bites the dust. nats the riviera opened in 1955 as the first high rise on the strip...and quickly became a staple for hollywood hits.. including the original oceasn eleven... the hangover.. and most recenelty jason bourne. nats come tuesday morning... the riviera hotel and casino will be a thing of the past. in june the las vegas convention and visitors authority began the process of tearing it down.... the monaco tower was the first to go... now the monte carlo wing... and iconic

in louisiana... historic flooding has left people dead. thousands of homes that have never flooded are underwater. rescue crews and volunteers people. so far -- more than 20-thousand people have been rescued from their homes. more than 20 inches of rain fell in and around baton rouge. some places were drenched with more than two feet of rain. the president has declared a major disaster in the state. more than eleven-thousand people are staying in shelters. a volunteer from the american red cross in las vegas will deploy to louisiana tomorrow morning. she will work with nurses to help flood victims.
