a fast-moving fire burns through canyons near the cajon pass... which is a major freeway between las vegas and los angeles. the fire has burned 55-hundred acres of brush... and officials say it's not slowing down. here's a live look of the i-15 in the cajon pass right now. the flames are about sixty miles east of los angeles. let's go straight to fox five's miguel-martinez valle with more i'm just a few miles away from where firefighters hundreds of them are fighting the blue cut fire away from where firefighters hundreds of them are fighting the blue cut fire the fire started earlier today and it's grown to 6,500

take a look around there is now a smoke advisory that has been issued and you can see why smoke everywhere it's hard to see too far in to the distance but the sky is an eerie sight it looks like something from an apocalypse movie ... the fire is causing some major disruptions to travel as you can see i'm surrounded by cars... it forced a freight train to make an emergency stop and has closedown parts of highway 138 interstate 15 which is where i am right now is also closed near the fire in both directions heading to and from vegas and it's causing some major back ups so officials are encouraging people to stay off the highways and maybe hold off on

already facing traffic back ups. getting back to the fire... nearly 700 firefighters and other emergency workers fighting to put it out and get it under control. they're using 102 engines, 15 crews 8 hellicopters, 8 air tankers, and have about 750 more people on the way so far we know two firefighters received minor injuries, according to the u.s. forest service but they were treated at the hospital and are back fighting the flames. officials say this wild fire shows no sign of slowing down. ... a lot of people have been evacuated especially from wrightwood and around lytle creek canyon as well as the west cajun valley area schools in wrightwood closed down early and evacuated children! for those evacuated the red cross is providing shelters one is set up at the jessie turner community center in fontana. another sultana high school, in hesperia. officials with the san bernardino national forest say five years of drought mixed with dry, hot weather have turned the entire area extremely flammable here's a look at the closures from the fire at cajon pass. the highway patrol says there are alternature routes you should take. we have those on the right of your screen. from the valley to
