officers are now trying to make sure everything is safe before they leave. we are monitoring this situation and will have updates for you throughout this newscast. a child was rushed to the hospital - after reports of a near drowning at his own home. we're still waiting to hear on the child's condition from police. fox five's vince sapienza is live by the home - near twain and rainbow - after talking with neighbors today. john, cyndi. the details as to what happened here today are few and far between. what is a near drowning was called into authorities around 10:30 this morning earlier neighbors told me they heard from police the child was doing ok but that has not been confirmed. they also tell me they are in disbelief that these things continue to happen despite all the safety education out there "people just always assume, oh it's never going to happen to me, i don't need to put a gate around my pool, it's never going to happen. kids are unpredictable, i'm

" now earlier today i spoke with hospital staff who say they are seeing a rise in drowning and near drowning cases when comparing to last summer as far as today's incident well bring you and and all updates as they come. in central las vegas fox 5 news local las vegas hospital staff also say that often times in a drowning incident you won't hear the splash. so always keep an eye on children near any bodies of water an arrest is made in a stabbing that ended in a man's death over the weekend. juan rubio was taken into custody.

charge in the death of 31-year- old michael omalia, who was rushed to umc sunday. he died from his injuries a short time later. investigators believe the two were arguing, then the confrontation turned physical. metro arrested a man they say lured teenagers into prostitution... through craigslist. you're looking at 63-year-old "david coil". detectives started investigating him back in may... but say he has been involved in human trafficking since at least october. he's now facing several charges, including sex trafficking, and engaging in child prostitution. metro believes there may be more victims, including children. if you have information, call crimestoppers at 702-385-55-55. both families and lawmakers are coming down hard on a drug company - that has jacked the price of an allergy medication. kim dawes, patient: $650 dollars is just not ok. every year for something you may or may not use. but then again its something that is not negotiable. allergy sufferers like this

the problem for years -- especially when it comes to what their teachers are doing online. every time we ask, we always seem to get the same answer... they don't have a social media policy, but they're working on it. right now the children have absolutely free range. this mother says -- maybe she's just old school -- but she thinks it's embarrassing. rosemarie macklin/ we're paying taxes to make sure these teachers are being policed. they know what they're doing. they all have background checks and at the same time our children need to be protected at all times. i think as a nosy parent you know if it's legitimate or not. jodi martinson -- whose daughter already graduated from high school -- said she sees where the school district is coming from. j odi martinson/ it would be hard to make a policy. i could agree with that, but it's such a gray area. she thinks, in some cases, there might be good reasons to talk a teacher online... and that's why parents need to be the ones keeping their kids in check. it always falls on mom and dad. always. that's where it starts. that's where the kids learn what they learn. not at all. no facebook. no twitter. no instagram. teachers have to know their place, and it's in the classroom. not to be socializing with them. the school

doesn't seem too terrible... too much cheese! and now, the government is going to do something about it. cheese surplus is at at a 30 year high... due to higher milk production and sluggish demand. americans would have to eat three pounds each to get the cheese back under control. the government now says it will buy 20 million dollars worth of excess cheese from private inventories. it will give that cheese to food banks and pantries around the country. ch year isn't improving any time soon. federal regulators say several policies in chipotle's employee handbook violate labor laws... and they have to change. officials say chipotle can no longer ban workers from criticizing the company on social media. the restaurant also cannot prohibit employees from talking about religion and politics. this all started after an employee was fired after posting critical tweets about chipotle, and starting a petition for better- enforced breaks.
