live from las vegas, fox5 news at 10 starts now katra nestor: (sigh) my son is gone from me im going to miss him. it hurts a little more everytime i think of it everytime i speak of it. he was in the middle of his mcdonalds dinner break last night -- when he was shot to death in north las vegas... and now police are trying to find the murderer. a deadly weekend on lake mead. a scuba dive taken out the water... but it was too late. we'll tell you what we know about the victims. and it's not the safest place to cross the road. a man dies in the middle of i-15... after trying to walk through traffic. tonight we have an update on what happened to the driver. we start fox five news at ten with breaking news. i'm adam herbets. we are hearing reports of heavy police activity at

into a deadly shooting...and the family says its because he didnt hold open the door for a woman leaving the restaurant. fox5's abby theodros joins us live outside umc where 31 year old mohammad duncan died this morning. its a really disturbing this tragedy ended at umc but started when 31 year old mohammad duncan was on his dinner break at the mcdonalds near pecos and las vegas blvd. now his mom girlfriend and children are left to pick up the pieces. katra nestor, mother: (crying) i just want to do right by him because he was a good kid, well mannered respectful of all. its a group no mother wants to be apart of - but one katra nestor

katra nestor, mother: this isnt the first one im losing. one i lost to cancer, one i lost to a car accident...ran over him..and now i lost one to gunshots this time...it was her youngest son mohammad. police say he was shot outside of the mcdonalds near n las vegas blvd and pecos after an argument with the shooter. nats nestor says her son's friend was there - and told her what happened nestor: it was a stupid, stupid ridiculous reason. from what i know of the shooting.. he was coming into mcdonalds and some female was going out. katra nestor, mother: the door closed before she could get out. and what happened is she said a few choice words to him nestor says thats when the womans boyfriend went looking for mohammad. an argument took place and he was shot. mohammad later died at the hospital. girlfriend: im lost. it doesnt seem real. its like he went to work and im just waiting for him to come home. mohammad's

mother of his kids didnt want to go on camera out of fear of retaliation but told fox5 mohammad was the type of person to shy away from conflict. girlfriend: mohammad was always the type of person to walk away from problems - even when we would fight he would just walk away. because he wasnt the type of person to argue. (crying) until police find the person or people responsible - mohmmads mom has this message... katra nestor: i forgive you because god said forgive. but you...if you're not caught...you will have to live with that for the rest of your life. katra nestor, mother: she walked out the door and then her boy friend came in, went in to the toilet, came out, asked the gentleman mohommad was with where is your friend and they said i dont know and the next thing he knew is the man shot him three times. katra nestor, mother: three bullets. i heard it. i was at the swap meet because i stay werent able to give us an a answer. we also asked for a suspect description but they say its too early. if you

if you know anything about what happened -- you're asked to please call crime stoppers at 702- 385-55-55 a tampa police officer is dead after scuba diving at lake mead. officials with the lake mead communication center say it happened yesterday afternoon at the submerged b-29 bomber site. first they received aep about a diver who was floating in the water unconscious... and not long after that, 48- year-old fred arnold was pronounced dead. the incident is still under investigation. and then this happened -- what looks like a second drowning this afternoon on lake mead. this time -- a woman is dead after a snorkeling incident. lake officials say they received a report just before 2 p-m of the woman coming up from the water unconscious. they say crews tried to perform c-p-r but it was

at 2-30. that incident is also under investigation. police say a man is dead after trying to walk across i-15 near the strip. it happened just before 8 a-m near the flamingo exit. neveada highway patrol says the man was hit by a toyota camry in the southbound lanes. the driver was taken to sunrise hospital with minor injuries but the pedestrian was pronounced dead where the crash happened. southbound lanes were closed off during the investigation this morning... backing up traffic for a man is recovering in the hospital after being shot on the strip early this morning. police say two men got into an argument near the entrance of the miracle mile shops. then they say the fight got worse... when one of the men pulled out a handgun and opened fire. the victim is expected to be okay. police say their suspect is still on the run. looks like those triple digits are coming back to hit us hard again. sam is here with his first look at weather.

degrees in las vegas on sunday, temperatures are climbing back into the triple digits for the start of your workweek. skies stay clear overnight with low temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. for the first day of school on monday, temperatures will be in the upper 70s and 80s as students head to the bus stop. the forecast high temperature tops out at 103 degrees during the afternoon. coming up we'll talk about how high temperatures climb this week and when some more moisture creeps back into the area. a warehouse full of school supplies is destroyed in a fire.

they had to use pepper spray on an 84-year-old woman... while arresting her son. as eddie randle reports, police have released a body cam video of the incident. natsot: "turn around and face that way now or i'll spray you!" an 84-year-old woman pepper- sprayed by a muskogee police officer is what has many people around town talking. police say this all started while they searched for the woman's son. police say he ran a stop sign then refused to stop - then darted into this home. police say after asking him to come out, but the man refused. so they went in. natsot: kicks in door you can hear police yell for the man to come towards them - before they tase him. natsot: "come here! i'm gonna tase you. do it now." then taser shot. then out comes his 84-year-old mother, geneva smith (name

confirmed), who police command to turn around. we counted and about 40 seconds after the command, they pepper-spray her and then she goes down. we talked to her last week and on friday we reviewed the video with assistant city attorney and sat down with the chief of police rex eskridge, who says the department is working to resolve the situation. (chief rex eskridge, muskogee police): "this is a very important issue, there is a lot of misinformation out there, there is a lot of prejudgment going on, there is a lot of concern." for that reason he tells me they released the video - to be transparent by buildin positive relationship he says police have with the community. (reporter/question) : "do you think videos show everything?" (chief rex eskridge, muskogee police): "videos can't give you the full sense of what happened, but at the same time they do either validate or expose any warts that you might have." the elderly woman says she was taken to jail after the incident, where she had a panic attack.

against the police department. police say they still need to interview two more officers, before the police chief can decide what to do next. family and friends are mourning the loss of nykea (ni- kee-uh) aldridge -- the cousin of n-b-a superstar dwyane wade. loved ones held a vigil this afternoon in downtown chicago to honor aldridge. she was shot in the head and arm while pushing a baby stroller in chicago's south side on friday. police say she was caught in the crossfire... not the intended rg loved ones at today's service described her as a "fashionista" who was caring and loving with everyone. she was 32 years old... and had four children. aldridge says: ""i miss her. our life is gone. she can't come back. i love her. this is my baby girl". police charged two brothers -- twenty-two year old derren

old darwin sorrells junior -- with first degree murder. investigators say video evidence shows both men at the scene -- but they haven't been able to recover the weapon. they're now trying to figure out if the shooting was an attempted robbery... possibly involving a driver from a ride- sharing company. firefighters are continuing to battle flames at yellowstone park the fire has burned for a nearly a month... and is blocking the jackson, wyoming entrance to the park. now emergency workers are focusing on opening the highway and protecting the campgrounds and buildings inside. another priority is making sure that none of the burnt trees could fall and hurt somebody. the park also has entrances in montana and cody, wyoming, that are still open for business. now fox5 weather 24/7 after a high

supply drive today... to replace the items lost in a warehouse fire last week. the fire happened thursday near polaris and harmon... it torched thousands of pounds of school supplies collected by the donation. today's goal was to fill up a trailer with school supplies for students in special education classrooms. the peoples autsim foundation says they're impressed with the community's help coming together. control tower is finally up and running at mccarran international airport... about 14 monthseh schedule. the 99 million dollar project was delayed by two government shutdowns... before crews eventually found a major construction error. air-traffic controllers are now going through training before moving into the new tower. the 30-year-old current tower had to be replaced because there were too many blindspots as the airport got bigger. the town of gerlach (grr- lock) has been getting ready for the "burning man festival." but not everyone in the small nevada town is excited for the event.
