at the time we heard about it, the clark county school district called it... not a big deal. they said it was just a tiny bit of mercury... and classes were supposed to let out on time. yeah... that didn't happen. we just waited for 12 hours. it was a long time. i expected it to be pretty sunny but then i was like oh yeah, it's been 12 hours. it's like pi somewhere along the line... the story seemed to change... from a tiny amount of mercury, the size of an old school thermometer... to this. this is the largest decontamination incident ever in the history of our department. initially when we made that statement, because i actually made it... that was our initial thought. once we started to get readings throughout the school, that raised the level of concern. ccsd police captain ken young says it all started because a couple of kids were just

similar rumors. they had mercury in a plastic bag and these boys were playing around in the locker room and i think it broke everywhere police saynine students and three administrators were exposed... and they're supposed to be just fine. the damage to their sleeping schedule is worse than the mercury. it was horrible because we were sitting there for like 16 hours. it's like i'm mad inside and tired at the same time and angry. still -- police aren't sure how much of it was scattered through campus... which is why they had to screen almost 1300 people... one by one... some of them more than once. mercury just bounces like little beads and it gets on your foot and you could track it everywhere which is why we were very cautious about sending people home when it was potentially on their shoes i just want to commend the school. they did an excellent job. i was there most of the time. the spirit of the kids was great. they weren't depressed or anything like that. it almost seemed like it was

able to take their kids home. today i talked with one mom who went to pick up her daughter at noon -- but she wasn't let out of school until after midnight. the mom told me in the 12 hours she waited outside of johnson middle school all she got from the school district was recorded phone messages. "you gotta understand why parents were getting upset, why they were getting mad, on social media people were saying oh well you cant be upset that they're checking your kids, thats not what parents were mad about, they were mad they werent getting any in today, ccsd admitted communication between the school and the hundreds of waiting parents could o have been better ccsd police captain ken young said many parents were skeptical of information coming out he said if this happens again they would focus on who was giving the information to concerned parents.

live near flamingo and swenson where an oversight committee talked all things money. we heard a lot of back and forth today between developers and the committee- mostly about the publics $750 million dollar contribution to the stadium. developers say locals have nothing to worry about - this money will be financed by tourists through a hotel room tax. financial analyst jeremy aguero went into detail about this today. he says visitors would see a point 88 percent hike for hotels on the strip, point 5 percent hike for hoteks within 25 miles of the stadium and no tax for hotels outside of that radius. we also heard from a local labor union thats excited about this project and the opportunities it
