live from las vegas it's time for fox5 news at 11. closed captioning will resume shortly and a proposal still in the works for an n-f-l stadium in las vegas... and much discussion surrounds the 750-million dollars of public funding. we'll tell you how much of a hike hotels on the strip could see. this is fox5 news at 11. local las vegas. for a second day -- classes were canceled at walter johnson junior high school... as hazmat crews work to decontaminate the school from a mercury exposure. class is also canceled tomorrow. this is video from last night... as hundreds of parents wait for their kids -- who were kept inside the school for several hours. you can see some parents sleeping on the floor... sitting on chairs...

billion dollar project. most of the discussion focused on the public funding. they're not budging on their request for 750- million dollars in hotel tax dollars... and don't want to return any profits to the public. developers say locals do not have to worry... because the money would be financed through a hotel room tax. financial analyst jeremy aguero says visitors would see a small hike for hotels on the strip... and even smaller hike for hotels within 25 miles of the stadium... and no tax for hotels outside that radius. a local labor union says they're excited about the project creating jobs. we want to be part of it. excited to be part of new era of las vegs moving to stadium for whole team and stuff like that." "lets build it were ready for it. ya know." no decision was made today... but the committee could finalize a recommendation for the legislature next week.

a woman is arrested after police found her boyfriend's body near an apartment complex. 26-year-old "lahtijera howard" now faces one count of open murder. police say her boyfriend's body was found yesterday afternoon near bonanza and pecos. his injuries were suspicious. investigators found out the victim's car had been in a collision... and that it was registered to howard. she lived with her boyfriend in the complex... and was taken into custody. police have not said how the victim died. we've heard stories about the samsung galaxy note sevens exploding. now -- one man claims the smartphone destroyed his car. accounts. california and federal regulators fined the bank 185- million dollars. they say employees created phony pin numbers and fake email addresses to enroll customers in online banking services. the accounts earned the bank unwarranted fees... and allowed wells fargos employees to boost their sales. wells fargo says they'll compensate customers who had to pay fees or charge for the accounts. the federal aviation administration warns travelers about using samsung galaxy planes. the f-a-a urges passengers to not turn on these devices or charge them while on a flight. this comes a week after samsung issued a recall about their galaxy note seven. the smartphones went on sale three weeks ago. the f-a-a says the note seven should not be placed in checked baggage either. the device is being recalled for having batteries at risk of catching fire and exploding. more than 35 incidents have been reported... including a florida man who claims his jeep was engulfed
