that womans dad... he says their family is in shock. shock describes it best. jose sanchez tells me he liked and approved of the very man that put his daughter in this life threatening position. jose sanchez: i didnt know what to say or what to think all i was praying for my daughter. jose sanchez's daughter - jessica is on life support. 0-4 js: they told us there isnt anything we can do. the family praying she'll hold on. they also have questions for her boyfriend. 17-19 js: it was dumb..what he was doing. police believe 19 year old raul espinoza was driving drunk. jessica was sitting in the passenger seat. jose sanchez: i can tell you i was upset and angry. just waiting for something to happen. sanchez says the couple was driving to a cousin's house. espinoza was seen weaving in and out of traffic at a high speed when he hit a car near charleston and eastern, took off, then hit another car near maryland parkway. espinoza eventually

traffic pole. he walked away with out any serious injuries. nat sanchez says he trusted and liked espinoza because he helped jessica during a difficult time. sanchez: she was depressed for a while and when she met him she was happy again. they looked really happy. espinoza was booked at the clark county detention center for d-u-i .... jessica is holding on for her life. none of the he people involved have serious injuries thankfully. still a lot of questions tonight...we asked sanchez if jessica was also drinking but he didnt know. raul was obviously drinking underage. but jessicas family says theyre just praying she makes a speedy recovery. and if you'd like to donate to their gofund me page and help with medical expenses we have a link on our website at fox5vegas dot com. espinoza is due in court next

bail hasnt been set. police need your help finding a murder suspect--- accused of shooting a person to death during an argument. it happened friday morning at an apartment complex -- near desert inn and maryland parkway. police are looking for 22- year-old asa brown. he's considered armed and dangerous-- and should not be approached. police ask anyone with information about this case to come forward. you leave an anonymous tip by calling crime stoppers. that number is 702-385-55-55. the latest now on the mercury screening at hnson junior high school. more than 7- hundred backpacks...shoes.. and other items have been cleared by the e-p-a. parents can still pick up belongings at the front of the school... from 8 a-m until 9 p-m tomorrow. the e-p-a says all of the school's buses have been cleared. we're also told e-p-a staff visited

night of prizes and high speed action. it was back to school night at the bullring. all students and staff from las vegas schools got in for free. the night included giveaways... raffles... and tons of race track action featuring nascar drivers "justin johnson" and "scott gafforini" even a few las vegas students got behind the wheel to race with the pros. las vegas is known as hawaii's ninth island-- so it's a natural place to hold a festival celebrating the culture. this year... "the pacific island" festival's theme is "be the change". the event features entertainment... crafts... a petting zoo... and of course-- delicious hawaiian food. the event is happening at the henderson plaza. festival-goers say it's a great way to catch up with the many native hawaiians living in town. charleston last night fox5s abby theodros talked with her dad today...he says her boyfriend was behind the wheel. abby? jose sanchez is still trying to figure out what happened last night his daughter is on life support with two broken legs and severe brain damage after her 19 year old boyfriend raul espinosa -crashed their car on the way to a cousin's house. police say he was drunk at the time. we talked to jessica's dad about the situation. hes' at a loss for words. jose sanchez: " : i didnt know what to say or what to think all i was praying for my daughter.i can tell you i was upset and angry. just waiting for something to happen. the city of north las vegas passed a resolution... declaring the second saturday of every septemember... to be military and veteran appreciation day. cyclists are in the middle of riding fifteen straight hours... to honor the 9- eleven anniversary. local nonprofit defending freedom... is hosting it's fourth annual freedom ride. the goal? to feed local homeless veterans. participants are riding spin bikes from about 3 o'clock this afternoon... to just before morning. they're spinning away at the e-o-s fitness gym on durango. defending freedom is partnering with u-s vets to provide hot meals for vegas veterans. an ohio man made a patriotic display... to honor the lives lost 15 years ago. a sea of red, white and blue covers bill sabin's front yard. with the help of his father -- sabin put out 2- thousand 977 american flags. that doubles his display from past

just remembering the lives lost -- he's thanking local first responders, too. with the community's help... he bought food for firefighters and police officers... in four northeast ohio towns. sabin says: "this is just a small gesture with 9/11 right around the corner." sabin says: "we need to quit trying to ignore our history because it's what makes us who we are today." sabin hopes these american flags and firefighter helmets get people talking about september 11th ... and inspire them and women whose mission is to protect and serve. here at home... a healing field is dedicated to the victims lost in that tragedy. this is at the palm northwest mortuary and cemetery. anyone can come and see the flags... and take one home for a donation. the proceeds will benefit the southern nevada fire fighters burn foundation. the cemetary will also hold a memorial service at it's chapel tomorrow at noon.

gone to the dogs. literally! the city pool turned into an aquatic dog park today. dog lovers brought their best friends to celebrate the city's second annual "pool party." it's an "end of season celebration" doggie parents couldn't resist. boulder city animal control and pool staff helped monitor the event... and offered outreach and education on animal related items. "this is a great event the city puts on, we were here last year, our dog loves to swim...he enjoys it, he likes socializing with the dogs, he likes swimming and greeting everyone and i think it's great for the pool to do this." the boulder city public pool will now be drained and cleaned. the main pool will reopen on september 26th with an enclosure for the colder months. a young boy is hugging his mom extra close tonight.
