a man was killed - during a fire this morning. it happened just before 7 a-m....on dori avenue - near washington and eastern. firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from a very small room in the back of a single story house - that appeared to be converted to a small apartment. most of the fire was out - and a man was found on the floor - near smoldering items - with burns on the body. he was declared dead at the hospital. the fire has been ruled accidental, we believe the fire was electrical in origin. the room had many many extension cords. "it probably smoldered a while, caught the mattress on fire there was no smoke alarm in that room. if there was a smoke alarm it probably would have bought him enough time to get out of that room. " most of the flames were actually put out by neighbors - who used a garden

"when we smelled it, our roomates and i came out, we saw the fire, we could see it perfectly from my backyard, "what was going through my mind was i didn't want that house so close burning.i thought everyone was gone to work or on vacation. i didn't know anyone was in the house" people who live in the house say the man that stayed in the room was a homeless person. they allowed him to stay in the room in exchange for doing handy work and yard clean up around the house. in a happier story - henderson firefighters - rescued a pet dog from a house fire today. they found t dog unresponsive - near the front door - while responding to the fire at a home near lake mead parkway and warm springs around 11 a-m. as you can see in this video from facebook - they were able to resuscitate the dog - with a specialized oxygen mask. he was taken to a vet by animal control for further evaluation. no one else was hurt - although three people are without a place to live - due to th fire. fox 5 is continuing their investigation into the restaurant at the silver nugget casino.

" it still smelled of

can tell that they did clean up whatever mess was going on there. " she said the restaurant was packed dispite the bed bug rumors...and she overheard people talking about it... saying they had never seen anything like it. she also asked her server about the facebook post and said he didn't want to talk about it. eventually... management and security asked her if she was with the news... so she left pretty quickly after that... but says... it looks like everything meets standard code now. we once again reached out to the silver nugget for comment... and once again we have not heard from them. at this point... we are gong to keep pressing the health district to go over their inspection procedures with us... so we can get a more clear picture of what is inspected. reporting live...kathleen jacob... fox 5 news... local. las vegas. hillary clinton was supposed to be making a campaign appearance in north las vegas today. but those plans changed - when the democratic presidential nominee suffered a medical episode over the weekend. clinton was seen stumbling out of a nine-eleven memorial event in new york sunday. her campaign later said she was
